  1. I think you're right - post-match, one of the players said the same. I agree. With regards to your other point... I agree Firstly, I think his comment was regarding the team - note the 'we'. Anyhow, I do tend to agree - doesn't seem to move across the ground at a very rapid speed.
  2. Yeah, I agree. I think Green's 'handpass' to Robertson a little earlier may have been 'incorrect disposal', though.
  3. Indeed. For people who don't go to any/many games, I'd say a 'traditional' 11/16 membership is hard to justify. However, a cheaper m/ship may entice those who do want to give to the Club, and be a part of it.
  4. Plenty of times when some old codger in the outer yells 'kick it long' there's no target for the player to give it to, hence the handballing (which has been compounded by guys standing still calling for the ball).
  5. I agree with Nasher/bub. If true, it's great news with regards Grimes.
  6. I saw the same guy run past me, along the wing, on the 'G after the game. I also saw some kids in Fitzroy jumpers on the ground at the end of the game.
  7. I think it's enough to sway some people to go to the game, just like poor weather can turn people away.
  8. We used the TJ pick for Grimes, iirc.
  9. So all the comments, in relation to Valenti's possible selection, about him not being on the senior list are moot.
  10. That's fine, just get your ticket scanned so it's counted
  11. The combination of a lack of KPPs on our list now, and the time taken for KPP's drafted in the next couple of drafts to develop is a concern, yes. One thing with this is that the numbers don't stack up - there are far more smalls/mediums. How many talented rucks/KPPs get traded unless they have off-field issues that cause them to move on?
  12. I thought I read - on here, so grain of rice - that we could upgrade Valenti while Neitz was injured. I've been to most games, and I also watched him pretty closely in a couple of those, and his workrate is pretty poor.
  13. Did anyone else think of bb when they read this?
  14. To state that MFC supporters are the most fickle in the league is misinformed, and serves to reinforce a damaging stereotype of MFC that I feel is misinformed. Firstly, our membership is not the lowest - Brisbane and WB have fewer members than us. I'm not sure how Port work out their membership tally either. Secondly, one of the Melbourne dailies reported that we hit 25,000 members recently. Considering our form last season and now, I think 25,000 is a decent number when you take into account our membership figures in recent years. Most clubs have poor crowds (~11,000 to a Hawks vs interstate club at the 'G match in 2004) and deflated membership figures when they are performing poorly on the field. It's disappointing that we don't have more members, and don't draw bigger crowds - I can't agree more. However, it's a fallacy to label MFC supporters as the most fickle in the league.
  15. Home ground advantage for the W.A. clubs is a big one, as others have said.
  16. 'If'. Isn't QB normally pretty crowded?
  17. Sylvia's frustrated me in past seasons (and at times this season), not because of any expectations because of his draft pick, but simply because he wasn't doing enough. This season, Sylvia's done enough to secure his spot in the 22, which is something I'm happy about, considering his previous performances. That said, he needs to continue to improve. I'm not sold on the idea of him as a backman yet, and it's hard to judge as the team is performing quite poorly. Once a guy's on a list he should be judged based on his merits as a footballer, not based on which round he went in the draft (as mo has said). Leave that kind of stuff to judgements on our recruitment. I'm not sure he does read the play well - he very often got lost around the win/half-forward flank, stuck in no man's land. I think that a move to defence probably helps that side of things.
  18. It's fine to suggest that some guys should be dropped, but we need to bring in replacements. I haven't been to any Sandy games, but it sounds like some like-for-like replacements for guys 'under the pump' in the senior team aren't doing enough to justify a call-up. Buckley, Garland, and Warnock have all had a run for the MFC. Grimes is on the LTI, while Meesen and Bate - who must surely come into the team if his form at Sandy was good this weekend - have also been injured. Maric could perhaps come into the side, and Valenti may warrant a run if he's upgraded to the senior list.
  19. I suggest Buckley was dropped because he wasn't working hard enough when he didn't have the ball, not because of his disposal efficiency.
  20. I don't mind how we go this year. I thought we were vastly over-rated in '06, and our next Premiership tilt wouldn't come until the '06 youngsters were more mature and experienced. This year's been expected, although I did think/hope that we'd be more competitive (:D) than we have been.
  21. You might be right, but they'd be there for different reasons in the case of Jamar
  22. I laughed at the Kerr for Davey swap. OP, go post that on a WCE fan forum and see what they say
