  1. Dunn didn't seem strong enough in the contests when he played up forward - reminded me a bit of how Wheatley plays as a backman (which is why I prefer Wheatley playing on a wing).
  2. That wasn't the game where he kicked a goal from 50m, was it? Anyhow, certainly a better side this time around
  3. Happy with Whelan for Garland, but disappointing we were forced to make a ruck change. As a couple of people have mentioned, it helps that Hale is out. What's that mean?
  4. See you outside gate 5 this Saturday. Bring the paparazzi.
  5. So the rumours include both Robertson and Neitz? I guess if you shoot enough targets you'll hit a target eventually. I'm not sure these are on the mark though.
  6. I think you're right re: many, particularly if they're picked up as bottom age players. Not great, but not terrible. However, if you're a young gun, it'd be a cruel blow.
  7. Cool story, Hansel.
  8. Yes
  9. Very frustrating for PJ, and us supporters Jamar or an unknown - either way it promises to be, ahm, interesting.
  10. I would have been tempted by Morton, but I think it was a good choice
  11. Hardly great for those draftees - particularly the better players - which I imagine is the point.
  12. You don't get a choice in the draft.
  13. Haha.
  14. ...and in the previous two matches?
  15. I wouldn't drop CJ after one game. However, like many, I'm also not sure he'll make it. Surely Garland is the #1 in line to be demoted, notwithstanding any match-up issues. From what I've seen, Buckley's workrate when he should be presenting an option, or when we don't have the ball, simply hasn't been good enough. His pace is welcomed, and I like that he backs himself - contrary to some, I'm not too fussed about his turnovers atm - but he needs to improve his workrate to earn a senior gig.
  16. I'm with you there. PS. Nice analogy, Jaded.
  17. Fwiw, I had a look at teach team's 'best 22' AFL rucks a couple of seasons back, and not many were high draft picks - in fact, plenty came from the rookie list.

I only watched the Geel game on TV, but I've been to a few other games this season, and we've often had two rucks on the ground at once. PJ's had plenty of game time, which is good, and he's spent a fair chunk of that up forward. I disagree. That said, we lost by ~100 points, but it's all relative. Probably fair to say that Johnno's been one of the better things about the season so far.
  19. To name but one, what did Garland contribute?
  20. In DB's press conference, he mentioned the fact that they 'still lost the game' enough times to make me confident that they won't be content. There were some positives to come out of the game, but we've certainly still got a long way to go. He has to deal with a tag. With the way our midfield looks these days, he's probably going to be the one getting it for the forseeable future. I didn't think his disposal was great today.
  21. I watched the game on TV, and tbh, I didn't notice him much. However... The general opinion on this board has been - or perhaps, was - way too high. I think the general consensus these days is based more on reality, and less on the number he was selected in the draft. This is just a general observation, and not really related to comments on today's game. For anyone who went to the game, did you see much of Garland? I barely saw him [on the TV], and tend to think he's probably first in line to be dropped.
  22. The press conference was pretty boring - DB doesn't give too much away. Haha, yeah. I don't think that was Sam Lane though. Who was the guy who mentioned 'positivity' 2-3 times? o_O
  23. Bruce had a really good game today, yeah. I agree.
  24. I like Jones too, but he didn't have a great game. I think there's natural upside in a player that's only 20 years old.
