I don't mind the idea of Miller deep. I also think Bate may be able to play that role at times - in an interview last year, I think he said he wouldn't mind playing close to goal.
-
Sure it would. Firstly, it's terrible. Secondly, it created a clash (from where I was at TD, anyway).

Current players were not invited to the heroes dinner

No problem. I think this is pretty clear: "McNamee admitted he was "mortified" when he learned six weeks ago that the current players were not invited to the dinner. Having addressed that oversight, he was hopeful the players could listen and learn from their predecessors' camaraderie and achievements, and forge their own history." Perhaps you were mistakenly thinking that your ticket would guarantee a current player on your table, as opposed to a 'hero'? It seems that current players weren't invited back in round 3. -
He's played that role for the majority of his time. He seems to get lost a fair bit though.

Once you're on the list you take up as much space as anyone else, and I imagine the coaching staff pick players on merit. You make a valid point regarding fans though - Sylvia's got far more praise than he's deserved through deeds on the field.

I agree - most are boring. However, there's a massive market for footy, especially in Victoria.

How'd McLean break his nose?

Indeed. If you lived in NSW and someone asked you which AFL team you supported, it's a fair bet you'd say Sydney. It doesn't mean you're a huge footy fan, and will contribute to the Club in a meaningful way (by attending games, buying merchandise, memberships, etc). PS. I seem to remember hearing reports of a similar study in a previous year, with some similar 'trivia' - something about Dees fans not using shopping docket coupons or something.

Hope for a fine day. If it's miserable weather, the turnout will be terrible. I'm also not sure how convenient it is for people who drive to games and park at the 'G...although there's CBD parking near Fed Square, and towards the 'G, it is a reasonable walk and some won't be keen on it. Hopefully some kids get excited about it, and it might be a good opportunity for some families to get to a game, as it won't clash with local sport. Yeah, I agree. It's also rather early - 11:30?!? Some people (ahem) aren't even up by then, let alone in the city 2 :|

You've lost faith in Bell now, Jaded? What do you get for a second round pick? Not sure it'd be much better than what you see in Bell now. We tried to trade Carroll last year, so I'm not sure that'll be too successful. If Jamar's only an 'insurance policy', and you're delisting White, who rucks for us next year? To a large extent, I tend to agree with you re: Green. However, I don't think it's idiotic to talk of trading Green, given that he's one of the most likely to get us a decent pick - we don't have much else to offer. That said, I'd be very surprised if we trade him. While originally about Bell, this applies to [virtually] every single player on our list. End of the day, I don't think we'll trade away too many players for high picks because we won't get offered what we think they're worth to us.
-
Yeah, we'll be able to have both Grimes and Valenti playing.
-
Like you, I voted silver. The jumper v St. Kilda was a disgrace, and was probably more of a clash than we'd have had otherwise - certainly more of a clash than if we'd worn dark shorts and St. Kilda the white shorts. Frustrating. Anything interesting with the new survey? I didn't get one this time.
-
That's an interesting POV. I was chatting to a Dees supporter last night, and we agreed that it was better to bottom out now, rather than in a few years. With the impending draft concessions for the new team/s, if you're on the decline now you might hit bottom at a pretty unfortunate time.

Then read the quotes attributed to our CEO on our site. -
It's been rumoured that Stynes would take over for quite a while now. Stynes hinted at that fact on a post-match radio conversation a couple of weeks ago.

We were vastly over-rated after the '06 season. I made a thread at the time, suggesting that we wouldn't be in contention for a few years. Plenty of people seemed to think our premiership window was upon us. That was brilliant.

monoccular, perhaps Holland's injured? Seems harsh. Wouldn't be surprising.

Jack Watts - Confirmed #1 Pick in 2008 Draft - Booyah!!!

I agree. If they did, I'd take it. -
There are plenty of seats available. You can get walk-up seats on level three on match day (assuming they don't sell out in the meantime, which I think is unlikely).
-
AFL members are often 'crammed in' that end because many of the bays on level 2 seem to be reserved for people that don't show. Often the way on level 1 IIRC, too, but probably not on that flank towards the Ponsford. It is frustrating for gen adm. though, yes.

...except Valenti was already in the side - it's not that he wasn't selected, it was that he's dropped. If you want to argue that it's team balance, you need to argue that we were unbalanced last week. If so, mono would probably be of the opinion that since St. Kilda's relatively slow in the midfield, Valenti probably matches up as well as, if not better than, against other teams.

I'm pretty surprised that people would turn off because of the 'Caro stunt' - it was typical Newman, he's always the same character. Virtually every epiosde of 'Street Talk' that I've seen has featured worse ridicule. Your other obligations are likely to be balanced out by someone else now being able to watch the show because they don't have other obligations etc.

I was thinking that, considering they're not too quick. Probably good for Morton to have a rest - I'd prefer it this game rather than next!
