  1. I agree, and you'd think that this is what we have to do if we go there. Simply training there isn't enough - I imagine we'd need to affiliate with Casey to make it worthwhile, in terms of building some supporter base. I wonder if affiliating with Casey Scorpions would be a good football move. I don't really know anything about their Club etc, but we've seemed to do alright with Sandringham.
  2. I'm surprised he's averaging that many.
  3. Just out of interest, why do you consider leaving at 3/4 time? I can kinda understand the '27-min mark' departure to beat the 'rush' (debatable IMO, wait the extra couple of mins and walk faster to get the same result). You could miss the greatest mark/goal/quarter of the century, some individual brilliance from your favourite player, etc.
  4. Talking of Stynes, when I went outside the 'G at half-time to have a kick, who do you think I saw him a couple of metres to the side, playing with - what I assume was - his child?
  5. What was your source? Did they suggest reasons for his unhappiness? I don't think he's going to be a superstar, but it'd be disappointing to lose him (for nothing).
  6. It's still a fair way off, and who knows what will happen with injuries etc. However, Bartram's spot is shakey at the moment, and Whelan is likely to come in (assuming he really did miss because of illness).
  7. What's your source? Very nice phrase. Green wouldn't be someone I'd be super-keen to try and offload, but like anyone, you'd look at a trade to see if you could improve your return. He could be handy when we're a chance to have a tilt, but more likely than not our time will come a little too late for him. As others have said, a Green trade could be a win/win.
  8. Still pretty young, then.
  9. The second half v Geelong is one example that suggests McLean needs to learn how to beat a tag - there were many examples last year. This week shows that this is an issue for Jones too. At other Clubs these guys might not be getting a tag at their age/experience level, and while they have time to learn how to cope with a tag, TJ struggled all career. As individuals, and a team, our midfielders need to learn how to play while being tagged. Eastie Boyz was not arguing that they performed while tagging, simply replying to bjc, who said that no one else of McLean's age gets the #1 tag...
  10. I've been to many games (incl. pre-season) this year. IMHO the majority of the turnovers from a string of handballs have been as a result of a lack of targets further afield. Yes, that was a smart kick.
  11. I agree. As you point out, there are recent examples we can point to when sponsors cite our on-field problems as reason for bailing. Wheatley's got plenty of seasons left in him.
  12. Maybe the Adelaide game is too far away, but I can't say I do. I had the 'feeling' coming into the Freo game. Haha, nice That was a great play.
  13. I reckon you've seen a different Newton to me. I haven't seen many Sandy games, so maybe that has something to do with it, but I haven't seen evidence that he loves it rough, loves a big hit and or tackle, etc. I'm also not sure if labelling him 'quick' is appropriate, either. You hero.
  14. Yes, and the same goes for McLean - he's also struggled with a tag. TJ tended to struggle with a tag, and we need to ensure that our midfieldiers, individually and as a group, can learn how to deal with being tagged.
  15. Yeah, all well and good to call for players to be dropped, but you need to replace them with someone better in order to have a positive return...
  16. Not so great, even today
  17. Time and time again he launched himself into a marking contest and punched the ball away - was very good to see, considering some of our efforts near the goals earlier in the season (ie. vs Geelong).
  18. I think the Club will continue with their efforts to play Davey further up the ground.
  19. I imagine he was exhausted, physically and mentally...
  20. The Dees staged the second biggest comeback from half-time. Talking of the Ess v North game, I was there - with a North supporter - and it was pretty astounding.
  21. Yeah, I had a laugh. It was pretty random

    Love this

No. Channel 7 are always in a rush to go straight to the news.
  23. I also thought Warnock looked alright last week. Rivers was definitely a stand-out down back though, and I'm sure he made everyone's job a bit easier. I can't think of too many of late. Are you thinking of any current/recent players? PS. Stop using the center align for your posts These boards would be quite dull if players didn't post opinions on which players they thought would and would not make it etc. It'd also be pretty boring if the only opinions on the future of younger players was positive. Yeah - didn't we run into some form just before the bye last year, too?
