  1. Some interesting decisions: PJ v Jamar Warnock v Carroll Buckley v Bode ...and Valenti to play, since he was promoted.
  2. Haha. He certainly was something. That's correct. However, they don't necessarily write a brutally honest report on the MFC website... That doesn't necessarily apply to Lovell's comments re: it being Messen's best game, but most of Lovell's player reviews are fairly sugar-coated.
  3. In one sense you're right. However, the obvious flipside is that their stronger lists means it's tougher for someone to break into the team than it is at most other Clubs.
  4. :D Major sponsor is tipped to be NQR.
  5. I don't know about you guys - and gals - but things are sounding good. Just a quick question though: ignoring the 'lets tap into a growing area' slant, is there any reason we would want a dedicated summer training base separate to our 'in-season' home?
  6. You're right on this - I recall CAC saying the same thing. I agree in some respects, although it's possible you're reading too much into it. People have outlined Foley's weaknesses, but Read had plenty of them himself (and less potential).
  7. From the little of Essendon I've seen, Stanton seems okay. Not sure about his disposal though, but seems to have a willingess to 'break the lines'. I can't see the value in picking up McPhee.
  8. Again? He took a week for striking a while ago. That's disappointing. I thought he had a decent impact on the weekend, but saw he didn't get much game time.
  9. Huh? The excerpt you've quoted suggests that the coaching department - ie. Daniher - over-ruled the recruiting department - ie. Cameron - when it came to picking up Read instead of Foley. However, you then go on to state that electing to pick up Read instead of Foley is one of Cameron's biggest blunders.
  10. We do indeed, but this isn't something new. I think Giafagna(sic?) and Buckley were probably rookie-listed because they are quite pacey. Same goes for Bode. Davey's been played up the ground in an effort to inject some pace, and Ward played more games than he perhaps should have because we needed his run.
  11. I thought I read that.
  12. Props for posting an explanation here.
  13. I imagine the last thing he wanted to do was get in an argument with some fan at a pub. Humouring someone can be the easy way out.
  14. I'm with you on this one. It could be optional - check the box if you don't want a gift, or whatever. I agree.
  15. He played for Sandringham yesterday (Sun 11th).
  16. Forget about this 'star' business.
  17. The lack of accountability and endeavour was the reason I was happy to see Buckley demoted, and it's disappointing to hear there was no accountability in his game v Williamstown.
  18. I travelled to Geelong with another Dees fan, but didn't watch him closely. I've read that the Club is working on fixing ruck technique issues he has. Regardess, he's still young. PS. Why do you use center alignment on your posts?
  19. When were the flags given out/players outside the gates? I was outside the relevant gates (3+5) ~1:30 and didn't see anything except two guys on stilts. I also went to the MFC shop before the game to buy a footy from the Club's own shop, and read that CJ and PJ were in attendance from 1:15-1:45 - did anyone see them? If they were there until 1:45, I must have just missed them.
  20. That's interesting.
  21. Interesting. I don't know if this is right, but taking your word for it, what does Box Hill gain? Why do they bend over backwards for Hawthorn? How does the Box Hill/Hawthorn affiliation compare to other affiliations, and is there something to indicate that Casey will be anything like Box Hill (or at least, better than what we have)? I agree, but I doubt it'll happen. One of the late-night shows on SEN was talking about the old grounds disappearing, and floated the idea of a boutique stadium at Casey Fields. Having our own team would be good. It'd also mean two VFL games p/wk in Casey, which would sate the AFL's appetite for matches every week in the big 'growth corridors'
  22. Only three 'outs'? Five would be the minimum, and I imagine there'll be more than that. I imagine these comments are offensive to other country members.
  23. I said we've seemed to do alright. Anyway, in what aspects do you think it compare poorly with most other Clubs' affiliations?
  24. Coming into the Freo game, I imagine we had been performing as poorly as the worst teams of the past 10 years. *shrug PS. His name is Barrett.
