It's weird treating somebody like an end of year delisting certainty when he's got a year left on his contract. I doubt Laurie will ever going to be a star, but it's harsh that he's only had one quarter out of 80 to prove himself in a dud season.

I'm into having a senior assistant to a first time coach, but can we put two people under the cap while still paying Goodwin next year? Maybe they could reshuffle a couple of other FD roles to make room for it.

No pressure on the new CEO, but the five month wait between hiring and starting (taking in almost the entire season) will leave people expecting that he's got some amazing super moves up his sleeve to make the wait worthwhile.

I agree on Petty not being a forward, but based on the Carlton game if Jefferson tried to scratch his head he'd poke himself in the eye.

I may be the stupidest person in Australia intending to go this game, but for anyone else who has problems finding the barcode to unlock tickets it's nowhere (that I can find) in the mobile app. The website says the barcode can be found under the page for that event, but there is no page because it's a Marvel home game. Eventually I got it by logging into the web version of the MyDemons page and absolutely hate myself for going to this much effort for what may be the sloppiest slopfest in the history of slop.

Surprised we're so far in the positive when spending most the game aimlessly chasing opponents and not making contests in the forward 50.

I still only rank this #2. The circumstances were horrific but the game meant nothing - just having to beat a lowly Collingwood to make finals for the first time in 10 years then going five goals down after barely laying a tackle in the first quarter deserves more scorn.

If that clip is to be believed, how is he only being offered a two year deal? I'm not saying he should get some Pickett-esque lifetime deal, but three years seems more reasonable for somebody whose career was trending way up at the end of last year.

I know footy players had a lot less to do back in the day, but by modern standards it's insane that he was elected to Parliament while still playing and did double duty as MP/coach of North for two years. Not sure if a fun fact is appropriate under the circumstances, but in 1967 he was re-elected as member for St Kilda and played in a win over St Kilda on the same day.

He wasn't great against Port but kicked a couple of goals (including a great set shot, which set him apart from everyone else) so I can't understand why he was dropped instead of trying to give him some continuity after an encouraging performance.

The novelty would wear off the first time Victoria had to play anyone other than South Australia. But if they can pick an All-Australian team that never plays a game they should have 'official' state teams. If nothing else it's a way to recognise all the non-midfielders who will never get a chance to win the Brownlow again.

Lever hasn't been great since he came back but it's not really playing to his strengths letting teams rocket the ball from one end to the other at warp speed. Remember when teams would get the ball at half back and have NFI what to do next? Now they may as well have runway lighting guiding them to spare players inside 50.

The missed shots (and dud forward entries) wouldn't look as bad if we went back to stopping the ball from immediately rocketing down the other end at warp speed. Having the worst conversion in the league is a bad thing, but keeping the ball at our end and the opposition under pressure would be nice too.

Spoiler alert - the whole article is based on expected score which is a lame way of judging something like this. Whatever we were meant to score the 2022 QF against Sydney was the big miss. We were in front, May thrashed Franklin, and a win there off the back of thumping Brisbane the previous week would've sent us to a prelim on a high. Bah.

I hated him as a forward last year (and it's not his fault that they kept playing him there when it obviously wasn't working) but this season I've started to think if we had a decent full forward he'd be a handy part of the attack. He gets the ball up the ground and is our best chance of intercept possessions at that end, we just can't rely on him to kick bulk goals. Problem is we can't rely on anyone to do that either.

The goalkicking is pox, but other than Pickett we also lack players who can pluck goals out of thin air, and I'd be surprised if we weren't in the bottom few sides for set shots from within 15 metres. Edit - I usually don't take expected score seriously, but this has our set shots as the four easiest in the competition so there (seemingly) goes that theory.

By default I know Ben Beams started on the bench because he might not have ever come off it. I'd like to follow on from this contestant's work and do the Bailey/Neeld years as a subject. SBS has shown a lot of sad, depressing shows over the years but they'll have to put a warning up before this one.

Without looking the 2006 draw was against Geelong. As for the Grand Final all I remember is Neitz having the first shot and thinking we might have a chance. I'll say 10 for Riley as a guess. We won two in a row, then had that putrid loss to Richmond before Daniher quit when they asked him to reapply for his job. Edit - Just watched segment, he did well but I'm surprised there weren't more stitch-up questions about obscure players.
