stole my thread.. but I was just looking at i-50s and scoreboard.. also comparing us to the average.. not our differential (obviously a very closely related stat) for against diff afl ave 2013 40.0 58.0 18.0 50.6 2014 40.5 52.1 11.6 50.2 2013 MFC: 9.5 goals, 9.1 behinds, score 66 (score against = 122, margin = 56) 2013 AFL: 13.5 goals, 11.8 behinds, score 92 2014 MFC: 8.6 goals, 8.9 behinds, score 61 (score against = 89, margin = 28) 2014 AFL: 12.5 goals, 11.4 behinds, score 86 2013/2014 AFL Average: 50.4 inside-50 13.11.89 MFC 2014: 40.5 inside-50 9.7.61 2013: 18.0 less inside-50s, 56 point loss 2014: 11.6 less inside-50s, 28 point loss 2015: ? only thing I would add is that the 28 point margin b/n us and the average is basically all to do with our offense - we concede the average amount but score 4 goals less. If Hogan, Dawes and Garlett can manage 100 between them that margin will theoretically be 0.

How lucky are we to have Dom Tyson!
Curry & Beer replied to Bring-Back-Powell's topic in Melbourne Demons
based purely on the facts I don't see how anyone could be overly critical at the time - DT himself was a pick 3 and in his 15 or so games of exposed form he had quite the impressive highlights package, including this absolute doozy: http://youtu.be/q6yxP3hPW5M?t=58s -

well... the evidence suggests we did indeed try something similar for trading for an established player with pick 3 no chance we originally intended to use 2 and 3 in the draft oh well, see how it pans out -

you can go on embarrassing yourself as much you like smart guy, because none of those players have played 35 games or less as I already pointed out to the last bloke that named Jeremy Cameron. Try reading the actual posts double fail -

don't know why being good equates to being in the LG for some two completely different things -

I challenge anyone to name any player in the comp who is more effective with just 35 games to his name. The more times I replay the replays of 2014, the more I appreciate how good he is, and how good he might become. In that game against Port he was on the wing with 80 seconds to go, unfortunately Grimes missed him and put it on the full - had he not, I reckon DT would have setup a play and won us that game. I said the other day that given our disastrous history of players 'not going on with it' I am tempering my excitement - but it is a difficult thing to do. His best asset is the ability to win clearances and find the goals under extreme pressure, might finish his career inside 50 ala Yze and Green -

What's that all about.. totally missed it -
Agree 100% again As much as I love Tyson, even for him I am 'keeping my powder dry' as they say. I have seen too many players at the MFC start well and not continue to the next level, Bate is another recent one that springs to mind and you could even argue James Frawley - he certainly is not as good in year 7 as he was in year 3 when he won AA
-
Agree entirely, I considered all that to be inherent in number 4. As I keep saying, we will never know what would have become of Morton, Blease, Gysberts etc had they not been drafted in to the 'perfect storm' of developmental excrement that was the Bailey/Neeld MFC I often wonder about the effect of getting belted, playing to 35 people on a Sunday night and having the media CONSTANTLY bagging the club you are at - has o be a real drainer emotionally on young kids. Dear God will we EVER get to see big wins and big crowds and some respect from the footy world? I think if we had that, our youngsters would go up a rung straight away.
-
The difference between being hyped about a high draft pick and actually seeing a gun player for the MFC is dependent on ALL of these: 1. was our recruitment process efficient in selecting the appropriate players? 2. will their style of play that created junior dominance translate to the big league? 3. will they actually improve as players or is their 18 year old output their career plateau? 4. will the MFC do their job in developing them properly? 5. will the game change in ways that help or hinder their individual style? 6. will they struggle with injuries? ALL of these factor in... IMHO number 4 is the most critical, and also happens to be the only one that we can really do anything about moving forward

but he played 10 years, and his best results apart from that last year were 5th, 6th and 10th. Not all that great.

Perfectly illustrates how full of S all these self-proclaimed experts are. I'd like to read the equivalent one about Morton.

Melbourne Demons 2014 Highlights! (Link Inside)
Curry & Beer replied to Jasonk_27's topic in Melbourne Demons
Great work mate, thanks. My pick is either the Salem goal off one step against the Swans, or Tyson's tackle where he just took it off him, stood up, turned around and bang from outside 50 -
we should have won it mate! Free kick against Watts cost us a goal after the 3qtr time siren! Pathetic decision! Grimes under zero pressure missed Tyson alone on the wing! Kicked it on the full with 80 seconds left! Should have rolled those pr1cks on their home turf! It is exciting though. Deadset 10 wins next year I am convinced

Just watched the replay of this and had to re-live the agony spelt out above It's hard to believe we found a way to lose that We will win those ones in 2015
