  1. and also he hardly missed a game for 4 years, meaning he was never dropped for form until 2014 thanks for all the replies but I am not sure we have unravelled much of this mystery yet! my main question remains: why only us and the bombers interested, it doesn't quite fit
  2. anyone know when the next open session at Gosch's is? (MFC site is not forthcoming)
  3. come on man that's a weak throwaway line that makes no sense. Malthouse has been senior coach of 4 AFL clubs over 28 consecutive years for 3 premierships. If there was some problem with his relationship with players he obviously would have crashed and burned long ago
  4. I am hoping someone can help me clarify what the situation is with this player, as it doesn't seem to add up, and I wonder why he seems to have been completely forgotten by the AFL community. So we got him for pick 61, which seems to be an absolute bargain, given the player has demonstrated four consecutive, consistent seasons as an effective small forward, and at 25, is just entering his football prime. Here are his career games/goals. 2014 Carlton 9 12 2013 Carlton 22 43 2012 Carlton 22 29 2011 Carlton 24 48 2010 Carlton 20 39 2009 Carlton 10 12 Career 107 183 What happened in 2014? I read somewhere he had a shoulder injury - can anyone confirm this? In any case it does not seem to be some sort of chronic injury that would reduce his value in the market - furthermore he certainly does not have a history of injury issues, hardly missing a game for four seasons in a row prior. Can anyone comment on him having a big drop-off in form in 2014? If this was the case, why, at 24, would a player suddenly lose his form? Is it all being put down to off-field issues? Apparently he played 12 games in the VFL (for only 7 goals) which would mean a total of 21 games for the year and therefore practically no issues with injury at all. Again, I wonder what caused such a huge drop-off in form? http://sportingpulse.com/nfnn/team_info.cgi?action=PSTATS&pID=194532036&client=1-118-10464-294689-20320225 Now, can anybody speculate on what the consequences might be with his legal troubles - should we assume there is no outcome unforseen by the MFC and therefore no reason to suggest he won't be available to play? http://www.theage.com.au/victoria/trio-who-bashed-afl-footballers-jeff-garlett-and-mitch-robinson-spared-jail-20150107-12jn1b.html "Liep Kuel, Abram Hothnyang and Emmanuel Golong were on Wednesday issued with convictions and community corrections orders for their part in the fight on August 3 last year, which left the then Carlton players with head injuries." "Mr Garlett was also charged along with his brother, Gerald, and another friend. They are due to appear in court in March." Now, are we being told that this incident is the sole reason for him being kicked out of Carlton? To me something doesn't add up - there should have been more clubs other than us and Essendon who were keen on him - why did the other 15 clubs stay away? Is this a 'no dheads' policy, that the MFC are prepared to risk? "The Blues made it clear they wanted to trade the 25-year-old at the end of the season after he failed to tell the club he was involved in an altercation outside a Melbourne nightclub." Moving forward, we have a 25 year old player with no injury history and a proven record of quality. Why the drop-off in form? How impotant are his off-field issues? Why did we get him so cheap with so few clubs interested?
  5. Yeah he has a somewhat slight build, but he just always seems to have the bad luck (or is it something else, like poor judgement?) to be in the wrong spot for a flying knee or a shirtfront or whatever.. I just seem to recall him pulling himself up off the grass looking very rough on a number of occasions!
  6. Dutch hockey player Ellen Hoog scrumdiddlyumptious
  7. I reckon Kent is going to go well - I've watched about 10 of the replays over the off season and the kid can be freakish at times.. thus far he has an issue with getting his hands on it but when he does he generally uses it very well. He could well become a full-time midfielder in the upcoming seasons IMO
  8. he qualified his opinion by watching a whole session, not a 2 minute video, understand the difference?
  9. obviously not, can you please justify your absurd, idiotic comment so that all of us poor readers can understand where you are coming from, thanks.
  10. according to Clint he is an absolute hack based on the 2 mins of training footage he doesnt even appear in
  11. what a bizarre comment - have you got on the gas early or something? so you watch 2 minutes of footy (footage that just shows a bunch of blokes running around reveals absolutely nothing BTW) and your conclusion is that we have 43 rubbish players on the list seriously dude wtf
  12. if any supporters have earned the right to a good ole whinge, it's us
  13. Probably a fair comparison to look at all those players' second years Roughead - 20 games 12 goals Brown - 25 games 38 goals Carey - 21 games 38 goals Riewoldt - 21 games 22 goals in which case you are correct, 40 goals would be quite a feat in a side that will finish about 10th IMO
  14. so their plan is to grab the best players in the comp and win flags we should have a plan like that, it is not bad
  15. It's a very safe bet though - it's not like he's a 17 year old who has only played junior footy... we've already seen how good he is in the VFL, last year's NAB cup and he's blistering on the training track. There's very little chance that for some reason he won't work out as an AFL player.. injury is about the only thing that can screw him.
  16. It's only January but here is the early 'worst post of the year' contender
  17. I was all over it too, but in hindsight - the talk at the time very strongly indicated that we were looking to nab a big name (Dangerfield/J.Kennedy) by throwing that pick 23 along with pick 3 AND the pick received by trading Trengove (12?).. so it's quite possible by JT failing that medical, we missed a big name but ended up with Brayshaw, Trengove, Frost, ANB and O-Mac ALL instead of that one marquee player. I think in the current climate, the HUGE name players like Dangerfield are 'going for' a huge amount of $$$ and huge compensation in terms of players/picks you give up and IMO it is unlikely to work out to be worth the investment. However, if you are talking FA you don't have to worry about the giving up of picks/players, of course.
  18. More brilliant stuff from the AFL with their fiddling with the game - now as another awful side-effect of FA we have club leadership decisions being affected.
  19. you are without a doubt the biggest pedant I have ever encountered on a footy site the way you just move from one thing to another in the face of being PROVEN wrong is truly pathetic you just go 'well he's obviously got me there, let's pick some other thing and argue semantics over that to buy some time' you must have some monster unresolved conflicts in your personal life I hate you
