Over at the Doggies supporter forum . . .
Dr. Gonzo replied to Queanbeyan Demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
I won't be content til I see us atop the premiership ladder so 4 flags minimum. -
He will if he doesn't have a choice a la Jack Watts.

Jeff Farmer vs Collingwood: Round 14, 2000
Dr. Gonzo replied to The Mighty Demons's topic in Melbourne Demons
Fixed this for you. He was kicking them from everywhere in 2000, I remember games at Docklands against WCE and Freo where he kicked 7 or 8 each including one off the ground from about 35-40 out near the boundary. -
I think he's fixed this somewhat he's kicked goals from 50 recently. But any issue would be because he doesn't get full extension of the leg (ie his knee is bent)

Who have Richmond and West Coast beaten?

I never had this one thanks for sharing! I've watched Demon Attack 94 and Dynamic Demons 2000 a tonne of times though

What’s really changed since our last loss?
Dr. Gonzo replied to The team we love's topic in Melbourne Demons
We do still handball a lot ofmut if congestion but the speed with which we're doing it now is crazy. The ball pings from one player to another to another in a split second getting that player free to put the ball into space before the opposition really know what's happened. And we're not handballing to a guy 1m away it's more like 5m which allows us to spread quicker rather than the receiving player getting tackled before he's got the footy -
The thing I love most is that we seem to have finally developed a killer instinct like a shark that's got the scent of blood in the nostrils. I think it was Healy on On The Couch who said the mantra at the club is to step on the necks of the opposition. That's a ruthlessness I've never seen at the Demons in my time. We have developed a hard edge but have talent on every line to really dismantle sides and not just grind out wins. All this positive press makes me uneasy and I want to see us do it over a long period but bloody hell it feels exciting like we could be on the cusp of something really special.

Obviously Pyke couldn't bear to give Lever a vote ?

Clarry "one of the best to emerge in last 20 years"

Obviously it's not the same. I was only using it as a comparison but he doesn't handball in the traditional sense - still legal though -
Clarry "one of the best to emerge in last 20 years"

It wouldn't surprise me to see the AFL change the rules to combat his handball technique. It's the most unconventional technique since the old flick pass -
Love his pressure, never stops chasing

UP THE MIGHTY DEMONS!!!
-
Meh, it's a man's game who gives a stuff. I hope they do get preoccupied with Lever, then the rest of our side can run all over them.
-
I reckon it was getting g fined for not tanking. AFL would've looked stupid and had lots of club kick back if they then handed us a PP.
-
Surely the AFL wouldn't award a priority pick to a club who clearly tanked?

Listening to the age podcast this week Caro stated MFC would like to get out of selling games but because we are beholden to the AFL they won't allow us to move (or MFC are unwilling to for fear of repercussions from head office). Similar issue Saints have with being shunted to China next year. The sooner we have our finances in order and can tell the AFL to get stuffed the better.

Daniel Chick did it with his finger, surely a toe is easier to get along without.

Don't you mean relax ?

He's pulled up sore every game since returning I don't think is a new thing. Listening to him on the MFC podcast after his return he delayed getting treatment earlier in the year thinking it was just a small thing so obviously now the second he doesn't feel comfortable he's going to notify the docs and get it checked out. He may or may not play on Sunday but I don't think you can fault the club for having him train, he has to train in some capacity if he is expecting to play.

MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 10
Dr. Gonzo replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Last year we seemed to cop teams at the worst possible time, this year we've had a decent run which continues this week against the Crows with their current injury problems. If we're fair dinkum this is 5 on the trot. -
Our crowd numbers actually stack up pretty well
-
Tyson and Vince would clear up a little space you'd think
-
I could've told you that! Seriously I don't put any stock in anything these new breed journos say, more likely to source info off here than anyone connected in the footy world.
