More necessity then design I think. TMacs injury really screwed our structures in the early rounds
-
It seemed early in the game Weed was playing deep forward, Hogan roaming half forward, TMac wing and Gawn ruck. That was when we were smashing the I50s for little reward. Once TMac went deep forward it straightened us up. Not sure where Weed went to but he didn't have much impact. I want him to succeed but at the moment you'd have to think he is only in the seniors by the skin of his teeth.

Im pretty sure same thing has happened last 2 week as well, has an opportunity in F50 but instead of having a snap handballs it off to a player in a worse position. They're not gimme goals but they're worth having a crack at for an AFL forward. Hopefully once he does get the confidence to back himself we see why the coaches persist ala Oscar in defence.
-
Agreed, our run up to round 17 us actually pretty good we get Dogsx2, Sunsx2, Saints again. After round 18 it heats up Cats in Geelong, Crows in Adelaide, WCE in Perth, Swans, GWS - tough run home. Edit - just checked, our return match vs Suns is in that home stretch.
-
We seem to be dropping defenders further back since the Hawks game (mainly OMac but also Hibberd and Jetta) so hopefully that will help prevent teams get out the back so easily.
-
Jones was a better candidate
-
Wouldn't have made a difference, GWS just would've thrown the money at Dusty instead of Scully and he would have gone north. Sheedy was on a mission to take our number 1 pick, didn't matter who it was.
-
Win this week and we should be 6th after all games are played (Geel/Pies one will lose, Hawks should best Swans, Tigers should beat North and WCE should best GWS).
-
Meanwhile Rance ducks/flops every other game and he's a hero. Oliver coos a fine for a tummy tap, Jetta gets punched in the face and not even mentioned What the [censored] is going on here?
-
Saints player kept his eyes on the ball so no free kick
-
There were actually 2 actions from Carlisle, first the chest bump then a jab to the chest/throat/neck (hard to determine from camera angle) which he got the free for. Not sure if this was picked up because on first viewing it looked like a delayed dive from the chest bump but there was clearly a second action from Carlisle.
-
It's not about rating us, the entire commentary today was from the viewpoint of what the Saints did or didn't do, what they needed to do etc Completely unprofessional
-
I literally did not even realise he played today til you just mentioned him and I checked the AFL app.
-
I thought he was bloody terrible today, I'd drop him for Viney on that effort and bring Salem in for ANB.
-
(and 22%) Gawn kicks that goal and we're 5th and Cats are 11th. Sliding doors
-
It wasn't just FA, just out of contract. Although they had Shiel on the list who doesn't come out of contract til 2019. Classic Herald Sun.

Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 7
Dr. Gonzo replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
That was the one where Weideman handballs to Jones, should've had a ping -
Are people seriously still arguing OMac is no good?
-
Oscar had a strong second half of last season and has followed it up with a very good start to 2018. Wrapt for him as he has copped plenty since debuting but is now showing why the FD has shown the faith. He is extremely solid down back and has built some confidence which is helping immensely. Great to see and I have faith now that he'll get the job done when the ball heads down there.
-
He definitely had a bit of a hobble going on before leaving the ground with the ankle, in fact the commentators made mention of it and he went to the bench and got some attention from the physio.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHARLIE SPARGO
Dr. Gonzo replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Oh really? Love this kid, we've found one here. His intent is fantastic and he is NOT a skinny runt like I was expecting. Loves to get his hands dirty and doesn't mind getting stuck in, I love him. Great pick again JT -
Harmes needs to give it off when having a set shot from 40-50 on an angle. He took his shot last week and today and both were poor efforts. He is not a great kick and needs to work to his strengths.
-
He definitely was, was favouring his left leg (knee was strapped) before rolling the right ankle. Love Spargo, we found something with this kid. Great debut game. OMac continues his solid start to the season, hope there's some prepared to eat humble pie.
