Give it a week

Nah we kicked the first 3 and thought "another easy day at the office". Then completely switched off until it was too late, same story every year.

Pathetic

If his entrance is as remarkable as Kane's was I'll forgive him. Perhaps he will make his debut at the MCG one week after the GF during the Undertaker/Triple H match?

Demons Grand Plan for Yarra Park Training HQ

That's an extremely tenuous argument -
I wish the ex-board members, coteries etc would support instead of undermine. A key reason we've been a shambles for 5 decades. I have no issue with the pies getting rid of Pert, did anyone really think Eddie would commission a review that called for his removal? Something had to give and it wasn't Eddie or Bucks. Similarly with the Malthouse/Bucks succession did Pert mishandle it or was he given a poison chalice to manage by Eddie? Not saying Pert hasn't had his flaws or even that he was the right choice but those two factors don't worry me.

It comes down to the players. The coach can only do so much, it is up to the players to drive that culture change. The coach, CEO, president, Board, FD, supporters can create the environment but the players are ultimately responsible.

But those games were against middling to bottom teams

A Port supporter on BF said it best, we're not soft we just lack composure. Once we settle a bit and start to think our way through things instead of bashing the ball forward and making life hard for our forwards we will be very difficult to beat.

Trees aren't an issue particularly if they're not native. The only tree that would be an issue is the scar trees https://www.google.com/url?q=http://www.mcg.org.au/~/media/files/mcg/general/yarra-park-tree-strategy-2013.pdf%3Fla%3Den&sa=U&ved=0ahUKEwjW2uW-i_HbAhUCF5QKHcVOCWEQFggQMAI&usg=AOvVaw1PjJg-0zczRGxejlrjyzbA -

Pretty sure they took it down and kicked a goal

It should be a talking point. WCE were completely outplayed by the bombers yet still won the freekick count 33-17! How the [censored] is that possible??? Wingard gets a non-mark results in a goal. Melksham gets a rubbish free against him, results in a goal taken off us, 50 the other way which ended up in a goal. That's 3 goals right there in a 10 point game. Many more examples as well but just those 2 instances umpired correctly and we win.

Sometimes you lose games, doesn't mean the team is cooked, club has no heart etc I was filthy last night because it was a game we should've won. We didn't take advantage of our opportunities/ dominance and made some stupid decisions/lacked composure. Once the pain if the loss subsides though I'm actually proud of the fight the team showed, especially in the last when it felt like our players were going down left and right, the umpires were giving us nothing and Port had 40k supporters willing them over the line. That's the second game this year we "should've" won but lost. We'll be 6th after this round at 8-5. We really should be 2nd (=1st) at 10-3. It's frustrating but it's not the end of the world/season. We'll make finals and get that much needed September experience/belief that we can actually do it. We get a chance to make amends in Adelaide in a month or so.

That 50 against Oscar was ludicrous, can't blame him for competing there.
-
Viney was fantastic last night, tried to drag the team over the line through pure will. Give it a rest.
-
Useless. Zero awareness, too slow, disposal questionable. Went missing for huge chunks of the game. Back to Casey next week.
-
Harsh. I thought he came into the game with the right mindset, tried to take the game on but his touch was a bit off. He was better than prior weeks. He went missing after half time but he also copped a knock or tweaked something before that as he was limping a bit in the 2nd.
-
How many of their i50 marks came from fast breaks in to open space?
-
The umpiring was criminal, I'm usually fairly level headed about the umps but tonight they were pathetic. The Melksham one was a momentum shifter, 2 goal turnaround. Not just the ones Port got either but the ones we didn't get were horrible bordering on biased. How many times would they take on a tackler and drop the footy only for play on to be called? How many times were our players scragged before taking possession but nothing, Oliver does it once to Wines and Wines gets a free. Wingard paid a non mark. 50m penalty against Oscar when he was in the air to contest the footy inllat the same moment the Port player is marking it. Utterly disgraceful, they want to know what's wrong the game, it's the abhorrent standard of officiating with no consistency or accountability

Absolute rubbish, don't talk [censored] mate

Wasn't even going for marks tonight. Have a look at Dermie breaking down his game at half time on Fox, he continually ran past the drop of the ball to get front and centre. He's a key forward FFS not a crumber/flanker. Not sure what went on in his head tonight, I would have out him in the middle to get him around the footy and left him there. It's as though he didn't want to get in TMacs way.
