  1. When he kicks through the ball he slots them. When he tries to chip/guide it through its anyone's guess.
  2. Doesn't matter what was said pregame. The actual game showed we had the ability to win, and didn't. I'm generally not one to be a perennial critic but it's time for the excuses to stop. The strong clubs do not keep making excuses for losses. You can have reasons, sure. But the reasons don't stack up when we clearly had the ability to win and flat out choked. If this were a one off I wouldn't be so annoyed. But it's happened so often it feels like it's inherent in the nature of the club that these losses will keep happening. As supporters we need to hold the club to account, continually excusing these performances doesn't work. It's not the loss, it was the inevitability of the loss/Crows comeback once we got out to a decent lead. How many long time Melbourne supporters were genuinely comfortable at half time thinking "we've got this"?
  3. Omac out Tmac in defense Preuss up forward
  4. And the worst administered.
  5. This is what we should be pushing for. The MCG is our home, we were born out of the ground. The MCC needs to come to the party on this, we no longer have reserves and under 19s playing every weekend, the field is immaculate and can handle a couple of training runs a week. Then it's just a matter of sorting out indoor facilities which shouldn't be hard to accommodate. Stuff being near the G, we should be AT the G.
  6. It's part and parcel of the game, the sport runs on the passion of the people. Part of that is everyone has an opinion on it and if you don't perform you'll be criticised. Don't like it? Go get a 9-5er like every other Joe schmo out there and live in anonymity.
  7. We need a sports psychologist. Not sure if we have one but if not it is every bit as crucial to our success as Missons replacement.
  8. Omac out Tmac to defense Preuss in
  9. We play better everywhere other than the MCG.
  10. Nah sorry bing that's garbage. That game was ours and we lost it. We had enough players out there to win, we had enough of the footy to win, we had enough scoring shots to win. We choked. Again. Not good enough.
  11. Oh please, there were multiple reasons we lost. Set shot kicking is one. Oscars terrible performance was another. Do you think he is a player we should continue persisting with? I have seen him take fresh airs at spoils at least 3 times this year. He is useless, zero intensity, zero footy nous, zero skills. What exactly is he good at besides being relatively tall?
  12. He's been on the list for like 5 or 6 years. Spud. Delist.
  13. If we got a free in front of goal we'd miss anyway Sloane went off injured before half time, who did we lose?
  14. because tmac has runs on the board and supporters are hoping he'll work through a terrible form slump or is still impacted by his foot/toe injury. Omac has played a handful of decent games in his career and has been utterly useless for the rest - also plays with zero intensity
  15. He never should've let Jenkins get goalside of him. And once he did he never should have let Jenkins get a kick off when he had him in a full body tackle. Weak as pisswater
  16. I've been telling myself this too But if it doesn't happen I'll be baying for blood
  17. Off the top of my head the Saints game at Docklands, both Cats games last year, tonight - we almost did the same against the Subs a few weeks back. I know there's more but I'm not going back into the memory bank of pain, those are just the ones I can remember without even trying.
  18. Supporting this club is such hard work. Is there any other that comes close? Maybe Saints or Freo. Every Melbourne supporter knew the crows would get back into the game. We've seen it dozens (more?) of times over the years. There was a sense of inevitability about it. How is it you change the players, coaches, gameplan, ground whatever - and the MFC still manages still throw games away in heartbreaking fashion. My dad said he stopped watching at half time, couldn't enjoy the lead we had because he knew it would get eroded and too stressful to watch the 2nd half. My wife (Geelong supporter) said she can't watch Melbourne games anymore, she was getting more upset than I was.
  19. He can take JKH and Wagner with him too.
  20. https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/10178925 Some things never change 1) Melbourne loses to the easybeats and wins the games you least expect 2) Umpires hate Melbourne
  21. I have to say the silence on this issue from the club since last year has been nothing short of disheartening. I haven't given this issue much thrift previously other than to thinj it would be good for the players to have better facilities. However I am now firmly of the view that the lack of a proper home is THE major issue facing us. Footy clubs are community hubs (not as in local community but for the players, coaches and admin). They provide the sense of history and identity for the players to feel connected and inspired by the past. I've been listening to the Kick To Kick podcast which is a must listen for anyone who loves the history of the game. The 3 guys are going through each VFL/AFL season since 1897 and currently up to 1927. The main thing that has stood out for me is the identities of successful clubs, the fact they are actual "clubs" and not just teams of players. This is something Smith fostered for us in the 50s and I assume something he inherited from Checker in the 30s. Most clubs these days have not just modern training facilities and home bases, but club museums proudly displaying their heritage. Where is ours? In the MCC? How accessible is this to our players (nevermind the supporters)? It is an indictment this has been allowed to go on for so long, the members need to agitate the board about this to make sure it is their number 1 priority. The longer we stand still the further back we go.
  22. Or we kick it in high to midgets like Spargo, Garlett, Lockhart, Hunt who are outnumbered 3 to 1. The delivery from the mids has been shocking but our forward setup is also dysfunctional.
  23. None of the kids in that article were even born last time we played off in a Grand Final.
  24. Someone that can kick with a bit of pace would be nice.
