  1. But if the players have the option of playing for Collingwood, Richmond, Carlton hell even Saints, Bulldogs North and Essendon and there relatively central training bases why would they have to "get used to it"?
  2. Out in the boondocks? No thanks
  3. This is one example https://alignedleisure.com.au/about-us/ The fact is the MFC decided to turn away millions because it was "the right thing to do". That's fine if they can replace that revenue but they haven't and members will rightly ask the question about how they plan to compensate for the shortfall in revenue. Can't keep re-evaluating the land they own every season.
  4. So nothing of any interest at all? Nothing about any additional revenue streams to cover the lost pokies revenue? What we will do if there are caps on crowds this season and how that will impact the bottom line (particularly early in the year with the Anzac eve game)? Clearly no updates on the home base (what exactly did Bartlett say to flick responsibility to the State gov?) I have to say Bartlett, Pert et al are starting to lose me too. Results matter and if they're not happening onfield then they need to at least be hitting their off field targets. How are we tracking to hit our goal of 75k members? What repercussions are there for the club failing to hit their goals at the first hurdle missing finals in 2020? This is the type of thing people get annoyed at and why they feel as though the club treats members with contempt. The club doesn't engage it's members it just fobs them off with platitudes.
  5. And AFL will eventually use it to force North south.
  6. Do you remember a couple of years back when there was 5 or 6 goals from 50m penalties in the Rich/Carl season opener for players encroaching on the protected area? Common sense ?
  7. I don't think you will be allowed a teammate within 5m of the mark unless they are the man on the mark. It will be a 50m for encroaching the protected zone. Typical morons at AFL create another rule to try and fix the ****show the sport has become under their governance when the easiest thing to do to reduce congestion is reduce the number of players on the ground. So simple yet something they seem to refuse to even contemplate.
  8. The fact Smith is 3rd on the list proves your point.
  9. Is he actually injury prone? I thought he largely missed time due to his broken pelvis/hip after jumping from the bridge. Does he have a history of other injuries that kept him out of footy?
  10. There was a game last year where he looked quite good getting to contests etc can't remember who it was against possibly Essendon? Eddie was commentating and was talking him up the whole game.
  11. Well I WAS gonna go - slim chance now
  12. https://www.un.org/en/genocideprevention/genocide.shtml Definition Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide Article II In the present Convention, genocide means any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such: Killing members of the group; Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group; Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part; Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group; Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.
  13. What were his thoughts on Kurds and Palestinians?
  14. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whataboutism
  15. His 2020 stats stack up pretty well with other key forwards.
  16. Exactly my thoughts too, is going to be a very interesting chapter in CFC's history. I posted on BigFooty the closest comparison I could think of was John Elliott at Carlton but he had nowhere near the media exposure Ed will continue to have. Is going to be a tough ask for the next President living in Ed's large and ever present shadow.
  17. He's not a scapegoat, he's a boofhead who refused to ever accept responsibility or offer a meal culpa for anything. The way he acted in last week's presser was the final straw, a PR debacle. I don't think the findings of the report itself were enough for ed to need to step down, I don't think he's racist and I think he is genuine with some of the work he does supporting some of the marginalised in the community. But he's also an "alpha" personality and acted like a bully on many occasions. He also refused to address issues within the club (not just linked to casual/systemic racism but other player behaviours too) and was on the defense to protect the CFC brand at all times even to its and his own detriment. His lack of awareness and lack of insight into his own behaviour and comments was ultimately his downfall and it was a miracle he lasted that long when he should've been shown the door after the Goodes incident 8 years ago.
  18. Its pretty well known that footy players don't fill out those "player profiles". Not saying Lumumba didn't complete this one but few footy players do this, its usually other players on their behalf or media departments from memory.
  19. Or he participated in it and is trying to downplay it
  20. So what do you expect should happen? Of course as a public figure he will be open to more scrutiny. These aren't park footballers, they're celebrities like it or not.
  21. As athletes they should be preparing their bodies to be in peak physical condition. I don't really think smoking the odd joint or doing a few lines of coke every once in a while is a massive issue but if you've got a Ben Cousins situation or a drug impacting game day performance (either positively or negatively) then you have a problem. It's not even in the same ballpark as musicians and artists.
  22. A lot of the suburban grounds were like that I think. Windy Hill and Moorabbin wouldn't have been much better. In the early days of the VFL Carlton and North supporters were notorious for their behaviour including multiple incidents of throwing rocks at umpires and opposition players.
  23. Amazing that only Collingwood Legends Members and above are allowed to vote in their board elections. No wonder Eddie has been able to rule unimpeded for over two decades! For a club that proclaims blue collar roots it is extremely elitist to disenfranchise the "riff raff" lower ranked members. Source: multiple Collingwood posters on BigFooty
  24. Just listening to this now and I think they've undersold us a bit but I get it, if you bet on us to miss finals each year for the last 56 years you'd have made a decent quid.
