  1. IMO the club should look to draft a long-term prospect with the ideal in building for the future. We don't need ready made players that will help us win now. *runs and hides*
  2. I'm still of the belief that it's not so much a lack of genuine talent, more so just a genuine urge to win. It actually seems as though some of the players don't know what it takes to play AFL footy. Every player on the list is talented in some regarded. It is the club's responsibility to ready them for the competition. Roos does this better than anyone. His team nor the one he left of Longmire was packed with stars. Just solid contributors that played a role. Now's the time to see which players have the capacity to shift from the loser mentality to the winning one. This week is as good as any. A club as a crossroad, struggling, under pressure. Give them hell. Make them earn the win. Is this team just doing to lie down again, or will it DO something?
  3. "Oh they're gonna be something. The Dees are gonna be something!" - Bruce Mcavaney
  4. He looks very good. Confidence is through the roof. Will improve with time. Hopefully he doesn't get Melbourne'd.
  5. That was a complete and utter annihilation. It was less about Melbourne keeping close, and more about GWS just feeling things out and learning how to progress in the rain. Bookmark it: they will pass GC by next year. Melbourne was, again, awful.
  6. Eh, I still love football. It's not as great as the 90s when I was a kid but I still love the game. Nothing beats a good contest that's close at the end. Doggies v Tigers yesterday had a wonderful second half. Melbourne truly is an indictment on the league and sport. They make it very difficult to justify certain timeslots and sponsorship. I love the sport and love watching it but actually hate watching Melbourne. They are terrible. Easily the worst team to watch the past two years, and probably this year. GWS and GC at least tried they were genuinely inexperienced and lacked the cattle but you could smell an upset. With this team, I now know what my dad went through in the 70s. I expect a loss every, single, week. I can't remember the last time I went into a match genuinely confident of a win. Probably 2006.
  7. Such a voice of reason has no place on these forums. BE GONE!
  8. I don't get it. It really hurts him that he lets people down so...he wants to give up so he doesn't let people down? I know the guy's in a tough place but I hope those around him push him to make the right decision. He belongs on the footy field. If it's all true, then he'll be riddled with regret if he gives up. It'll be the ultimate disappointment and let down if he throws it away and goes home. I hope this is the message given to him. Going home would be the worst thing for him. He needs to tackle these problems head on and that would include fighting the things head on, not just throwing the towel in. It seems its mental first, physical second that's keeping him away from the game. I'll be disappointed if he quits. Understanding and accepting, not angry, but disappointed.
  9. Seems to have fitted in nicely in the Hawks' defense. Has been there every time the Dockers have gone deep. Cut off a few low shots at goal. Hawks fans speak highly of him.
  10. You have misinterpreted what I have said. I did not suggest his workrate isn't up to scratch in any capacity.
  11. It really is just the same old, though. I think it's damning that it even needs to be said that players need a desire to win. They lack it completely. I know it's tough, but the reality is that this team is literally a pack of losers. They seem to accept rather than lament a big loss, and for man of the guys it's unacceptable. I am just astonishing that guys like Frawley, Jones, that these guys just seem to go through the motions. I love Jones but I feel the last 12 months he is just going through the paces. In a pack of downhill skiers, it's always a, "Someone else will do it" mentality. Being hell bent on winning is a fundamental, a requirement. Anyone that doesn't have it should be in the VFL. The game was lost on Sunday before the match even began. You can see it. It's sad.
  12. Rumour has it they trained hard. Expect a showing on Sunday. How depressing is it that the prospect of picks 1, 2 and 3 excites me so much. You'd think we'd have learnt our lesson by now.
  13. Won't work unless you sacrifice a virgin to Gary Lyon.
  14. The statistics don't lie. Melbourne is ranked 10th in marks inside 50, whereas GWS in third-last with 7.5 per game. So how are GWS averaging 14 goals per game? The Giants rank 1st in clearances with 46, Melbourne averages 30. On game day, a statistic like that is damning. It gets worse. Melbourne is LAST in center clearances, while the Giants average 5 more with 13. They also average 33 stoppage clearances per game, 11 more than Melbourne (!!!) They also average 7 more rebounds out of 50, with 38 per game. Can you imagine if those statistics remain honest on Sunday? The Giants will win by 8+ goals. The reality is that a lack of a forward line is not really the issue: it is the team's inability to chase, and its inability to work hard enough to win a ball at the stoppages. Guys like Watts in the middle only make this worse. The errors are another problem: if Melbourne makes an error forward of center, the Giants are really good at pushing it through the corridor. They did it well against the Swans, and in moments of flash against the Saints. We all saw against the Eagles the amount of errors Melbourne made in the corridor and in the forward line: on the counter-attack, the Eagles ran ran ran, while Melbourne stayed in 1st gear. They gave up. Melbourne does not need every single tall to be playing to win. It needs to win the damn ball when it matters!
  15. It's comical that Pederson seems LESS a liability at Full Back than he does at Full Forward.
