  1. This doesn't sound suss at all
  2. No I don't think it's bleak at all. I'm just saying that right now we're 2-3 injuries away from having to play potatoes lol
  3. The comments on the AFL Facebook page are unbearable...
  4. Was saying this to a mate the other day, who was over the moon that we had "selection issues". We only have those issues because our injury list is so small, and we have only maybe 2-3 players (if you include Grimes alongside Dawes and Vince) that would be in the top 22 nine times out of ten that weren't already playing. Our "depth" players with experience are: McKenzie Pederson Michie Spencer Terlich Jones Fitzy That doesn't include the likes of Stretch and Hunt who are clearly still a ways off. Now, any team, even a top team like Hawthorn, that has seven top-22 players out and needs to top up with 7 VFL (at best) players is going to struggle, but our problem is that these 7 players are decent (at best) players in a *bad* side, as we've seen the last 2-3 years. We lack depth primarily in the ruck, because Gawn and Spencer are simply not reliable enough. Terlich and Jones are massive liabilities down back, and McKenzie doesn't win the ball in a tagging role like Viney can, and even when he does win the ball, he hacks it. Put simply, we lack depth because none of our depth players would fit into the top 22 of any other team. Compare this to depth players at top teams. Ben Newton for example was a depth player that couldn't get a game, and he's now clearly in our top 22. Let's pray we don't get the injury bug because we will struggle. We need another 2-3 good years of drafting and sighing to get this team even close to a top 5 finish, irrespective of how much improvement we see in younger players like Salem, Viney, Brayshaw etc
  5. Yeah was epic. The chant itself, I hate when Collingwood does it but it's an awesome war cry of sorts to claim victory. Sounded great on Saturday.
  6. Mid-2011, a few weeks before *that* game. Heck we might even have been in the 8 at that point.
  7. On a scale of 1 to Leigh Matthews, with Leigh Matthews being the dumbest sort of comment you can make, that statement is a Leigh Matthews out of Leigh Matthews. Leigh Matthews.
  8. He looks a little slow but give the bloke a break. He's gone now and we've got a true clubman in Lumumba now. Time to move on.
  9. Lumumba - La La LUMUMBA
  10. Watts. It's amazing how much [censored] he still gets from supporters. I hear Melbourne supporters call him weak and stuff if he gets tackled or can't hold a tackle.
  11. We're still anywhere between a 4-12 win team. It depends a lot on so many different variables.
  12. Tyson won some important clearances for us every single time GC challenged. Tyson - There when needed
  13. Didn't mind the song but they need to blend it together better with the club song. Love the electronic banner around the sideline, but the pinkish red Fujitsu one really hurt my eyes.
  14. Was loud. Size wise it looked around 25k-30k, sound wise...40k.
  15. I don't think anyone ever expected Watts to be like Archer.
  16. I love our song but that is awful. Sorry Just sing it as is ffs!
  17. There's also the whole "it took 31 seconds for the club to decide between Toumpas and Wines".
  18. He's the rare sort of hot head that walks the walk. I love Vince.EDIT: I'm on my phone and quoted the wrong post. I meant Vince, obviously. Demonland needs a mobile app.
  19. Why is he even on the Demonland banner? Jetta should be there. At a crossroad and evolved dramatically.
  20. He's just been an average player in a bad, bad team. Unsurprising.
  21. Didn't last long, though. 87 - Great year 88 was good for forgettable for obvious reasons 89 - Solid year 90 - Solid year 91 - Solid year It was good, not great. I think we hold the Northy years highly because he put us into the finals for the first time in 23 years. But really that weren't all that remarkable.
  22. To be frank I fear that Roos' vision for the team and Jackson's intentions appear at odds. Roos needs money to help create the team and install the discipline and vision he wants via an expanded football department. Jackson wants money that can now only come from winning games and improving the club's selling product. Which comes first: the chicken or the egg? Winning games in 2015 is absolutely integral. Starting the season off strong is very important. Roos saying that losing round 1 isn't the end of the world appears at odds with what Jackson is trying to do. Round 1 is a must-win. If we can't beat a beaten-up Gold Coast side, which has only won twice on the MCG in its history, in the first game of the season after the "hardest pre-season ever" (according to the players), then where will the wins come from? The playing group needs to stand up now.
  23. Agreed. Could never see us winning the game last year. Suns just couldn't finish it but always stayed just ahead.
  24. I thought last year's game was more one-sided than the final score showed. They absolutely smashed us around the stoppages and had 10 more scoring shots. They led by 30+ at once stage and even when we did challenge, we always gave up 2-3 very easy goals in return which blew the lead back out again. It was never close. GC just kind of took the foot off the gas for 5-10 minute periods. We kicked the last two of the game but it was over long before that, even if we only lost by 8. GC never looked like losing that one. We will win this game if we slow down their run, and don't ourselves go through the traditional 30-minute patch of ineptness. Our NAB Cup games haven't been promising in that regard: all three games had whole quarters where we were just terrible. Give GC that much freedom and they'll kick 5-6 goals in a row. This game will be won and lost in the midfield.
