  1. I imagine that seeing as though talk of a new brand and logo didn't surface until after last season, 2015 was always going to incorporate the current look. Coming up with a brand and logo isn't just something you get Bob the intern to do in photoshop. I'm certain the club wants to distance itself from that logo because it represents one of the club's most turbulent times. I don't mind the logo but I think we need something simpler.
  2. Essendon is no Melbourne. VFL side or not, they'll turn up. Different club down there at Melbourne Airport. If fortunes were reverse Melbourne would be guaranteed to lose by 150. Essendon, I'm not so sure. They're too proud. I expect a close one tbh.
  3. There's no need for it on the logo, really.
  4. "Tyson - prolific but wasteful" I hope this isn't common for Dom. His disposal has been very poor in the first two games.
  5. I hate to be a negative nancy, but the club is in the same position now as it was in 2008 and 2010. Lots of promise of financial and internal stability, and the promise of on-field performance but ultimately, nothing. We all know what happened between those years and what came after. It all *looks* to be on the right track! but we've been here before. The club has consistently buckled at the most important KPI: consistent on-field success. We could have God himself running this club, but if you don't win and offer a watchable brand, it's all for nothing. Got to start winning games.
  6. Delivery going forward is still shocking unless we have a clearly open and free player.
  7. Do they have first-year film students directing the camera work? Or is it Bob from the canteen?
  8. What's Mitch Clark got to do with us taking Toumpas over Wines?
  9. Salems looks very good. He's a silkier Dom Tyson. Salem, Tyson, Viney, Petracca, Brayshaw, Jones Surely in 2-3 years our midfield will be among the best in the league? If only we still had Martin...
  10. That is a retro logo. There have always been a few bits of merchandise that carry that and the old VFL logo. That Demon was used in the 80s.
  11. What's this got to do with choosing Toumpas over a Wines?
  12. https://archive.today/GOvSO March 26.
  13. Last year's match against the Saints was always winnable. The difference, ultimately was Saint Nick. He won them that game. It wasn't anywhere near as bad as Port in 2013, Brisbane in 2012, Hawthorn in 2010, North in 09, or Hawthorn in 08. 2007 against the Saints was probably the worst: there was an article in The Age that week pumping us up as Victoria's only genuine chance to win the premiership. That was pretty much the beginning of the end, with the end having continued on until this very week. Holy crap, it's been almost a decade...
  14. I'm becoming increasingly skeptical about this season tbh. I'm sure there will be "improvement" with what I interpret as being a better overall squad, but I still think the squad lacks the talent and experience to be consistently good. Will this team improve more than the Lions will? Dogs? Saints? Can we finish about the Pies, Crows, Eagles, Bombers? Is GWS going to continue to improve, as they've shown to have having thumped Melbourne in the last three encounters between the two sides? The club wants to make the finals in 2016: Who do we leap frog in that time? I think 6-8 wins is passable, but 3-4 wins is still very much a possibility. I'm very confident that we'll get a few good wins this year ala Adelaide in Adelaide and the Essendon win, but ultimately, this team is still only a 6-8 win side. To be entirely honest, a pass mark for me would be a win against one of Geelong, North or the Hawks, and actually playing football in Perth rather than just being run over. Real improvement will be shown in how we compete against teams that throw us around like rag dolls and have for years, like Geelong. Nathan Jones and Dunn would have won, what, once against Geelong? Same for Hawks and North? I've just gotten to a point now where I want to see a good game of football against quality opposition. The two games against Port last year were tough losses but they were both really great games to watch. I think that realistically that's where we should be setting the standard for this squad: not being steamrolled and lying down early. Also, Round 1 is an absolute must-win. We have two away games that follow and if the club wants to build its membership and support it needs to set a promising first impression. A loss against GC at the MCG in Round 1 would be a disastrous start to the season imo. It would just set the wheels in motion for yet another tough year. We deserve more than that at this point. The fans need some hope.
  15. It wasn't great. The session itself was good but 90% of people there obviously didn't know of the 1pm start because the crowd was the same at 12pm than it was at 1pm. It's great that people volunteer their time but the sausage sizzle was a shambles. They needed to rush out to buy more sausages, and the people managing it were clueless. It was just sausages and bread: why not just pre-make them so people can grab and pay? The ladies looked at me like as if they wanted to take my intricately detailed order: yeah, I want 4 sausages, How'd you guess? On top of that, they ran out of cans of drinks, and there was no mustard or sauce left. Waited 30 minutes for dried sausages in bread. Never seen so many people have to line up for so long for a sausage! Except maybe during the Mardi Gras broadcast! As I said, the training session itself was great to watch, but no merchandise and membership stand was a bit bizarre. It seemed like a bbq run by a suburban football club, which coincidentally took place at the same time and place as an AFL team training. It was my first training session since the 2000 GF and my second overall since I started supporting in 1990 and it was strangely ameteurish. But just to reinforce, the team trained fine. But as a fan and support exercise, it was embarrassing.
  16. I enjoyed watching them train today. I live in East Melbourne though so I guess I wasn't as inconvenienced as some of you. It did seem a little unorganised and I found it bizarre that after promoting it that there wasn't any merchandise or membership drive.
