2018 Player Reviews: # 20 Corey Maynard
I was thinking the same thing Mono, with 55 years on the clock and minimal AFL under my belt there is still hope that I could become a 100 gamer?

Yes, you make a great point MD but the thing that is interesting at this time of year is that we are looking at 80 of the top young players in the ND but also the largely also rans with DFAs (with some exceptions no doubt)

Nice work TPF39, thanks!!

AS an observation, DFAs represent the 430-500th best players on AFL lists. I base that on the fact that they must sit outside each of their team's top 24 (24 x 18 =432) From that basis they all must have deficiencies of some sort or another making selecting any of them a bit of a lottery. Interesting to see how many of them really work out. There is probably a thread that could be put together just for that: Most games played at a second club by DFAs. My mate was rapt that Norf picked up Hartung last year..nuff said

We would go from having a surplus of Jacks to having a surplus of Jakes

Even then ( I had to stand behind him in the Holiday Hub reception while he extremely politely dealt with an issue relating to his camp site. I remember thinking "this guy with a funny voice sure has a cute girlfriend"!)

Random MFC encounters
Interestingly, I shared several waves with Jacko at Pambula Beach in January 1981. He rode a longboard.

Great outcome for the club; some really good deals done when looked at them all together.

2019 best 22 and depth chart
Very true DJ but it is of course how soccer teams have played for years and I can see a real benefit to it when the list is strong enough. We will see...

Farewell Jesse Hogan
I feel like Jesse (as much as I loved having him on the team) was the last of our wantaway players on the list. It seems like they all want to be there pulling in the same direction. Go Dees! End of an era and beginning of a new one

2019 best 22 and depth chart
We are entering the era of Squad footy I reckon. I strongly believe that with our depth and spread of talent each week will bring a different best 22. In the case of opponents like the Weagles we will inevitably play tall utilizing the likes of Preuss and Frost whilst other weeks against shorter pacier teams we will be using the likes of Fritch and Hannan as well as Spargo. It gives us the opportunity to play as necessary as well as keeping list rotation a reality allowing for greater freshness at the business end of the season. Exciting times

Recruiting a 3rd tall forward to find another 50 goals?
my Kangas fan mate reckons we have the steal of the trade period with Preuss. His words:"better than Max in 2 years" which I strongly doubt but even as good would be huge for us.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Considering we finished 4th, 23 is not so far off what would have been our first round pick.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
looks like there will be lots of cross demonlanders based on this rumour. I am with Beelzebub on this one, if we get the end result that leads to September success I could not give two hoots about the minutae of the deal. It is not a pissing contest.

Calling all MCC Members
Ha! At first glance the interests that you list in your profile along with where you live all look like top end of town pursuits to me: "Inner Melbourne Interests:diving with big sharks, racing windsurfers, contemporary art, consuming fine wines & watching the Dees" I am sure that you would argue otherwise and I am certainly not going to fall into the trap of applying stereotypes to you either. I can confirm that I only share one of those pursuits and that is following the Dees. I am a 40 year member of the MCC and also an MFC member since I have been back in Australia (20Years). I have some coin for which I have worked unashamedly hard for. Why would you set out to exclude such a major part of the fan base when together it makes us one of the powerhouses of the league. Seriously!
