2018 Membership Thread
Hey LDC, definitely get onto them, I have had a bit of a mess around this year for various reasons but in a nutshell if it has not been sent and they have to re-send to you, they are trying to get them out before round 1. When they re-sent mine it took a good 3 weeks! They mean well but it has been a bit of a schamozzel TBH

2018 Membership Thread
Hi All, I just renewed my son's and my membership for next year and was talking with the guy about our current tally. He said that as of today we are sitting on "about" 25,000 putting us 1500 ahead of where we were last year at this time. Apparently they started a bit later this year hence the slow start. He also said I should have my membership before Christmas. Good news all round!!

Thank You Paul Roos and Peter Jackson
I disagree about it being only at our club; after all the term was coined in modern parlance by Hawthorn against Essendrug all those years ago. It just seems more exclusively ours because we have had so many lines in the sand before. This does seem different this time. I should add that I am and always will be a hopeless optimist

Only time will tell but my feeling is that it my have proved to be the "line in the sand" for this group. The feeling is that we won't stand for that carp any more. Apart from the first quarter against Norf we have delivered

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CLAYTON OLIVER
I am an MCC member but also get the MFC membership to support the footy club. The way I see it the club needs my membership and I give the MCC membership a flogging during the summer. Big Bash, test match and ODIs for me and the young fellow add up to a heap of attendance.

Of course I do Curry; but sometimes watching a thread devolve into a case of school yard "he said - he said" point scoring and finger pointing does not really add much to the experience. This just seems like point scoring and hairsplitting for the sake of it. But you give it your best shot; I am sure that you don't need my permission. He certainly speaks candidly; I guess most of us can relate to a moment in life when we find ourselves thinking "wow this is actually happening to me". He told of if very clearly. Love the references to his family. Thy appear to be the double generation blended family. V 21st Century!

The No T$ No B$ Thread
I have had an extremely productive weekend. We are putting on a new room to the rear of the house and I have had a fantastic clean out of builder's waste as well as hanging the back doors and shingling the bay windows. My wife's quote today was "you haven't left anything for the builder to do!" My reply.."erm...we are paying him by the hour......" deathly silence after that. 1 week to lock up and 4 weeks to moving in...a fast reno is a good reno leaving me free to concentrate on the Dees next year!!!

A mate of mine did the art-work (the wall not the bodies) in a new film clip by Gotye called "Somebody that I used to know" . It is a fantastic song but now I can't get it out of my head. The same thing happened when I heard Paul Kelly sing How to make gravy. I love the song but it is driving me nuts!!

Movies/DVD's
I refer you to the Wake in Fright thread, you could do a lot worse than get along to see this great film. Also I would recommend Not Quite Hollywood as a great introduction to the Australian Film industry. I realise that I am starting to sound like a Aussie Film zealot but they are great films in their own right.
