Sounds like he knows where the goals are .....
-
Lucky they weren't playing at Geelong yesterday because they could have been our midfield...
-
We play em at the G and lose about $70k. They play us at the Cattery and make $500k. That in a nutshell is why the AFL has stuffed this comp.
-
For all the Cale lovers Its round 16 west coast have been decimated by injury and he has just made it into their team. What does that say? And BTW while we are at it Gysberts hasn't played a senior game yet either. oh yeah we did the wrong thing.... sheesh...
-
Well I would prefer we didn't let him go for nothing but its line ball with me. The ideal scenario is to swap Col to a club like Geelong and maybe get one of their 23/24yo players with 85-100 games experience. I believe we will go nowhere with Col on our list. There are clubs he would be ideally suited to but they aren't Melbourne. (And yes I do realise he can walk for nothing). And BTW writing in bigger caps doesn't make your point any better

The problem is he is one our most senior players. He should be leading by example - and he doesn't. 150 games on potential and the odd cameo. When we have failed to develop players in the past what effect do you think players like Sylvia have? When a senior player doesn't run and spread, give 2nd or 3rd efforts, tackles weakly or commit 100% what do you think a young player does?? When a senior player doesn't doesn't do those things it is quite probable a young player says 'why should I bother?' The young player would have come to the club full of enthusiasm and effort but after making 20 chases probably thinks 'why am I the only one doing this?' Players like Col do terrible things to our list. Ditto Davey and Jamar. These are the guys that have escaped the proper scrutiny at our club because they are the supposed leaders. When we are being pole-axed week in week out in stats like uncontested possession (we were over 100 in deficit on average - almost twice the next worst) do you know what that actually means?? It means that players aren't running. They aren't spreading from a contest and they aren't giving the kicker an option. And guess what happens after that? We turn the ball over because the opposition pressure is too great. Its a vicious circle and it starts because we have players like Sylvia and Jamar and Davey that are content to be on an AFL list and turn up every week. And we as a club should demand more of our senior players. And posters on these boards should stop waiting for Col to have a breakout year. FFS its his 10th year. It ain't gonna happen. He should be turfed from this club and replaced with someone that can lead. Col offers no hope just frustration. Give me 22 players that try their guts out every week.

Good to see Col Sylvia stepped up for his 150th. Big song and dance all week and them....(drum roll).....nada.
-
Because he has a life. And probably because he had it booked before he joined us. There is a world outside football you know......
-
What a joke. 10 of our players had 50% or worse efficiency. Watts - 1 kick? What was he doing most of the day?
-
Aaron davey 14% disposal efficiency?? How did that other champion Sylvia go in his 150th?? Nathan Jones take a bow, You are a champion.
-
i50s 20 to 1 in the third quarter, Bad.
-
Unless he has a had a heart transplant I can't see him playing more than a few games....
-
He often gets 3 possessions in a short chain. That racks up numbers and does little damage. Overall is a very good player and he denies the opposition ball, spreads well, and actually has very good delivery when he has time. If oppositions can keep him to the little chips and short handballs then he is much less effective.
-
I doubt it. Nothing to be gained...
-
Well done Chook for the early mail.despite the crap from some posters! Your form has been good..
-
I don't think we have had a game in the past 6 years that I can recall when we have had our 'best 22' on the park. Let me know when we do..... So the arguments about Fitz are ridiculous. He is showing some form in a couple of games. Persevere -he may continue to improve. There's a thought
-
Wow a real discussion thread - there's a novelty.... Keep it up.....
-
And then there is hunger for the contest......
-
Yep Just waiting for him to get a good pre-season. He'll tear it up next year for sure...... Gee he might even get in the top 10 in the B&F...
-
Am hearing that the AFL are having trouble finding the right credentialled board members and President. Stockdale is a no for Pres. Freeman is a no for Pres. There ain't a long line up..... Can't vouch for the source but it came through an Ess contact who knows PJ apparently.....
-
I always thought it was spelt "Miw-yion-air" Silly me....
-
I know both Will Fowles and Stephen Smith. They are both good people. Mephis - you have a self esteem issue!
-
One kick in the first 6 rounds. I reckon I could do better than that.
-
These 'novelty' bets are all about PR. The reality is they have maybe a $20 or $50 bet limit. It wouldn't take much to wind the odds right in. Maybe a few hundred. Its a good story - it got in all the papers. Mission accomplished. Its the cheapest advertising you can get.

Good post Deemon. There are plenty of circumstantial cases. Lance was never caught with drugs in his system. The evidence was never tested. Its all circumstantial. WADA aren't particularly interested in the impact on the AFL. CHeck out what they have done to baseball. In fact the bigger the code the harder they go. They want scalps. Because big scalps deter others.
