For those that think it doesn't matter, this is why punctuation is important......

Do you use that instead of a toilet?

Carlton being rewarded for being crap with FOUR Friday night games.......
-
Says the bloke who thinks OMac's key asset is getting to contests......

How is it that we have played once as the home side against Essendon since 2005 ? Who TF does these fixtures? Carlton hasn't played at Geelong since 2007?? Since 2008 Carlton have been the away side against melbourne twice?? Since 2009 Melbourne have been the away team against Geelong all but once Seriously, people complain about melbourne receiving equalisation money. Its a joke. We get shafted by having to play interstate sides at the G and a severe lack of games against the big pulling teams when we are at home.

Be real about what this means. This is not a handout to weak clubs. Its about the uneveness of the ground rules set by the AFL and trying to fix that monetarily. 1. Stadium deals. If you are going to make people play at 'clean' vs 'unclean' venues then this is massively unequal. Geelong, WCE, Adelaide in particular have huge revenue from corporate boxes, advertising, food and beverage, parking etc. We don't because we rent the MCG as it is. The MCC get the revenue from the extraneous stuff. What does this mean? WCE spend more than $300k a week more than Melbourne on the footy dept. That is huge in the context of providing elite training facilities, medical rehab, marketing etc 2. Fixturing. The blockbuster/derby/showdown games. Twice a year huge revenue. The myriad of BS fixturing such as gifting Essendon 11-12 Friday night, Saturday night games. Or two games against the big crowd pulling clubs generate massive reveue in gate recepits and advertising. If you are a sponsor are you going to back Collingwood with all of their TV exposure or Melbourne that has had about 2 friday night games in 5 years? Carlton haven't played at Geelong since 1998 I am told. Why not? We haven't hosted Essendon at the MCG since around 2006. Why not? We don't play the big melbourne teams twice most seasons. Why not? These all add up to ridiculous amounts of revenue and TV exposure. It also measn we have to sell home games to the NT. The playing field is far from level and like everything in the AFL it is compromised by the fixture and money. The AFL is not 'assisiting' Melbourne it is giving back a fraction of the revenue that Melbourne would otherwise earn if the fixture and TV wasn't such a basket case.

Hawthorn played in 8 GFs in the 80s and nearly merged with Melbourne in 1996 because they were skint. They were saved by a huge cash injection from ian Dicker.....
-
As if that would happen!

The club was adamant that the second injury was not related to the first. It makes sense to me but others may have a view. The plantar fascia is a pretty simple affair once he had undergone the op. Don't think there is any conspiracy aroudn this and if there was any doubt the news would be out. You can't keep that stuff quiet in melbourne for such a long period.

Motlop is a bit similar to Watts in that a lot of fans very frustrated at the consistency over 9 years. When he turns it on he is tremendous. Just don't see enough of it. Can't comment on his training habits, rehab etc but it may also frustrate the coaching staff and be a reason for his departure. They may well be the icing on the cake for Port but when the chips are down it will be interesting to see the fans reaction.

Agree sort of. Making it a contest is better than just arriving at the contest and doing nothing....
-
And BTW you are setting the bar pretty low if you think making it to a contest is his key asset. You might as well say he puts his boots on the correct feet.

Most footballers have a strength or several areas where they can dominate - pace, height, hands, strength etc. That's not unusual at all. I am surprised you find it so. I am not judging him by any one criteria but I also don't think he does anything particularly well and was interested to here what Fester thought. Feel free to pipe up.

West Coast had a waiting list for membership of 10,000+ You pay around $35 to be on the list! When you have a clean stadium you essentially get revenue from corporate boxes, reserved seating, advertising, food and beverege vendors, parking and general ticket sales. Its huge. That's why tenants of the MCG get dudded.
-
Nah, he doesn't.
-
This is a few years out of date now but break even for us was just under 20,000 at the G. In contrast Geelong with a clean stadium make around $500k on a 20000 crowd. Similar to West Coast.

TMac is one of the drivers of the work ethic for this team. He, Jonesey, Viney all drive the team standards. He lets himself down with some decision making and execution but you can't fault his endeavour and willingness to do what it takes for the team. Was dirty on missing finals and is driven to make amends for it. It's no surprise to me that Watts is out of the team as his attitude and work ethic are polar opposites to the leadership group. They had their say on the matter and are now demanding complete buy-in. Thats a good thing.

What is OMac's number 1 asset?

Garland didn't play an intelligent brand of football. Even at his best. It will be seared in my memory forever in the first 10m of a game against the Saints at the MCG where Garland left Reiwoldt to run to a contest on the members wing. He got to the contest but opted not to jump at the ball or impact the contest in any way. He stood at the back of the pack doing nothing. Needless to say Reiwoldt ran back to towards the goal and received the ball and kicked a goal - Nathan Jones tried valiantly to dive on the ball and nearly killed himself in the process. Garland jogged back to the defence after the goal. I have seen numerous times Garland doing supid things like that which are unforgiveable for a senior player. He had one good year finishing, I think 3rd, in the Bluey. Other than that he has very average.

1. What would you base that on? 2. It is always the players fault for not beng the best possible player he can be
-
I bet you are also basing this off a 5 sec clip when the camera showeed him sitting in the freezer tent. Seriously WTF has this got to do with anything?
