  1. I love the way how some who have attacked posters lamenting our weak defence and in fact lauded our back six now think we need to get May and Kolodjashnij. Funny.
  2. I also can't believe we would offer a 1st rounder for May....
  3. Some kind of alternate reality when you get rid of a 23yo KP forward that has proven himself for a 27yo (in Jan 19) overweight full back that doesn't like training and is leaving his club in the lurch as Captain.
  4. We should offer Mrs Hogan a job at the club :)
  5. Yes you are correct..
  6. Lachie Weller was 2 first rd picks. He is a cut above Weller.
  7. This wouldn't apply to a Hogan on a fixed contract. More like an actor, artist or musician that has variable earnings over a 2-3 year period. My real point here is that once tax etc is taken into account the difference between a Melbourne offer of say $1m pa and a Freo at say $1.2m pa is minimised significantly. Some might take the extra $100k a year others might not be swayed by that and all of the pressure it entails when they can stay and likely play finals without any greater pressure than they are under already.... Ultimately if he wants to go home he will but my undertstanding is he like living here and likes the music scene etc. He stays for mine.
  8. Are you a public servant? Welcome to the real world. People pay tax
  9. The club has to be tight lipped at this time. There is so much garbage being put out there by 'journos' that have to fill column inches. If they responded to every wacky rumour they would need more staff.
  10. When the smoke is the media vultures like McClure, Ralph and co I can ignore it quite easily. @Moonshadow is right though, we'll know soon enough....
  11. Agreed and FWIW I think It's all bunk. He stays.
  12. You miss the point. For a start he pays tax at 49% and he pays a management company min of 2.5%. No one is dangling a $5m cheque. And Melbourne will negotiate a decent offer - that may not match another offer but would minimise the difference again to, say $100k a year after tax. Then there are the intangibles.............
  13. Everyone needs to chill. He hasn't met with the club yet. It's all clickbait at this point
  14. He will not have a $5m cheque put in front of him. Don't over-egg the pudding.
  15. It's all click bait. Stop feeding it.

That strategy worked well for Port.....
  17. This is one of 2 key issues. 1. The club receiving the player loses nothing except salary cap space. 2. The club losing the player - often a bottom club - receives a compo pick if its a RFA - but that gets them another junior. Maybe they need as well extra list space to recruit an older play a la Hodge or Lewis... Heard Hocking on the radio talking about PPicks and he said they are a 'sugar hit'. Said to look at the rebuild at melbourne as to how to handle it. A 'whole of club' approach. It looks like the new blueprint...
  18. As much as I like that they have just re-signed OMac so its unlikely you would think...
  19. Could be right. I was OS last year and only saw the GF.

I reckon he has slowed a little as he has bulked up in the hips/glutes. Aaron Davey I recall one year coming back from a big pre season in the gym and was noticeably bulkier and slower.
  21. Contrast it with the Adelaide 'Power stance' for the GF. Contrived and a failure...
  22. No I have plenty to spare...
  23. This thread is stupid. Jesse loves Melbourne. And for all those saying the fwd line is functioning better without jesse you are missing the fact that we are playing differently since he has been out. Much more one on one, more composure delivering the ball into the fwd 50 (The elimination final was not a good example!) and much better pressure from everyone to keep the ball in there. Jesse is a solid 40 goal plus fwd and you don't get rid of them because an 18 gamer has a good game.
