  1. Bartlett's programme is on in the mornings (not afternoon radio). Why would he come back to talk about MFC issues? If the claims that Bartlett discussed an injury to Grimes on air were true, you would think, the news would have spread but, except for here, it hasn't. Subsequently, there have been no reports anywhere that indicate Grimes has any injury worries at all. Nothing on the club site or anywhere else. Like Mick, I smell some rats around here.
  2. I think that's going a bit too far. I could have sworn we delisted Saddam Hussein last year!
  3. It's official according to melbournefc.com.au - Dees' new clash guernsey unveiled
  4. The information is reliable. It comes from the tea lady's brother-in-law.
  5. What happens to players who miss out on selection next week? Do they get a practice match with Casey or anything like that?
  6. Send him back home in Dick Pratt's private jet!
  7. Well if it's Coke maybe they won't be very PROUD to be involved with the Brisbane Lions after today and perhaps they should throw their lot in with Richmond where we know that at least on player favours Coke. For my part, I'll be drinking Pepsi tonight with my dinner.
  8. Great article WJ. If Liam plays at FF he takes on Rutten or Bock first up. That's a tough ask!
  9. It's true that, based on 2008 form, our forwardline struggles but 2009 could be very different. Add a fit and motivated Newton, an exciting x factor in Jurrah, two extremely fit livewires in Davey and Wona and a stronger midfield with improved disposal skills and ability and you might get a substantially improved attack on what we saw last year.
  10. I'm interested in which players are training the house down at the moment.
  11. I didn't say they weren't doing a good job or that they weren't under pressure. It's been 6 months and there's been no business plan and no sponsor. It's not a case of "spitting bile" either. We are however, entitled to some answers, surely?
  12. At what point can we say that the honeymoon is over for Jimmy and his Board? Six months? They did a good job with the debt demolition, they seem to have done well with the AFL & the MCC and they've made some good appointments like Schwabby for CEO. But no major sponsor and looking down the barrell during a deep financial downturn and the pressure is on. I'd like to at least hear from the club as to the sponsorship situation in light of today's Mission Food news and I think we fans are entitled to know the precise state of play with a business plan going forward. The honeymoon won't last forever and fans are getting edgy.
  13. Not deceiving at all. In fact it tells us that he is much more comfortable on Planet Carlton where greed is good and the individual comes first. Dean Bailey sacrificed a season and a few players this year to make the point that you play for the team and that everbody must earn their opportunity to wear the jumper and take advantage of the benefits (financial or otherwise) that come with this through hard work and effort. Want an easy kick? Go to Planet Carlton.
  14. Does he work for WCE?
  15. HEALEY A DEMON
  16. Nice
  17. Thanks Oracle. A mighty good read.
  18. It's all been sorted out. I just sent an email to Tennis Australia and they're cancelling the final of the Australian Open to avoid the clash and the inconvenience to commuters. Very gentlemanly of them too!
  19. Something wrong with this quote. Healey's a kpp from Bendigo.
  20. Which one applies to Nathan Carroll? I wonder!
  21. Yep. He does seem to have been packaged into a Warnock deal. The two of them are off to Caaarlton!
  22. I have a conspracy theory about all this. After we lost out on Chris Judd at the end of last year, we decided to get even with Carlton by planting Mark Riley there as an assistant coach. He managed to convince them to go after Matthew Warnock and offer him a massive contract - $400k a year for 4 years for a bloke whose played 21 games in the last 3 is massive. Then they went after CJ - 2 years for a 5 year 31 gamer is just about unheard of isn't it? Even the HUN joined in the conspiracy by writing up today's article giving Johnson the same prominence it would normally reserve for one of the game's stars instead of a bloke who managed only half of the maximum games possible in a season with the bottom side. Among the 400 wasted words in the article was this absolute pearler of a line that just about sums up CJ's value as a footbaler - "The Blues made a play for the son of former Demons star Alan in the trade period, offering a late pick above 100 in a bargain-basement bid." And have we all noticed that Carlton now has an obsession with players who have the initials CJ? Courtney Johns and Corey Jones are the next targets. Mark my words!
  23. Do you reckon Carroll hasn't breached the contract? Of course he has. The question is not whether he breached the contract but whether the breaches he has committed are sufficiently serious as to enable the aggrieved party (i.e. the MFC) to terminate the agreement. There is an arguable case that they are and that the club would win a court battle but the AFLPA is supporting Carroll. The argy bargy taking place at the moment is happening so that the parties can arrive at an agreement that would avoid them having to pay for expensive lawyers to prove their respective cases.
  24. Good one, it'll be a case of the G or the Jihad. Also, couldn't help raise a chuckle about the fact that the AFL and Ian Collins are having a bit of a stoush about fees on beverage sales at the Jihad. I wonder if the sponsors approve of the consumption of all that alcohol on the premises?
