  1. Do you think that someone like Shaun McKernan would be of interest to the MFC? Hasn't been a regular this year for the crows, yet to turn 24, could be acquired for relatively little and fill a KPF/ruck role that we have had little depth in this year?? I've always liked the look of him, although he hasn't been able to constantly put it together yet. The arrival of Podsiadley has meant that there hasn't been a place in the team for him this year. This would allow us to trade off our early picks for ready made midfielders and allow time for our younger players to gain experience.
  2. Scott Lycett anyone? Apart from Gawn, we don't really have a decent ruckman for the future. Jamar is nearing the end and Spencer is depth. What would it take to get Lycett given that he's out of contract this year?
  3. I'd be keen to get Jake Best from the scorpions into the club with a late or rookie pick. He always seems to be one of the scorpions better performers and knows how to kick a goal. I was hoping we picked him up last year.
  4. Yes, i would trade him for Dangerfield...but i don't think Adelaide would.
  5. I'm pretty sure Toumpas was near the front of the running during the majority of pre-season. We all know he can kick....but as with many highly rated juniors, they are usually the play makers and accumulators of their teams...which generally means that their defensive habits need a bit of work. Paul Roos is defense personified and Toumpas is in learning mode. He's being taught defensive side and structures of modern AFL footy all the while developing his body. Will he be a star? who know, the jury's still out...but it is way too soon to write him off at this stage. I'd be very disappointed if we were to trade him.
  6. I'm not sure if he has the tank for the middle and i feel our ball winning capacity isn't too bad in the middle with Jones, Tyson, Viney, Vince, Riley, Cross etc. What we do need is some outside runners with skill. What i do worry about is having a good kick and someone with genuine pace and game breaking ability to rebound off the HBF. Kent knows how to tackle and hit a contest hard, so he can bring that to the defensive set up. Think Nevile Jetta 2.0 with pace and a long raking kick. Watts' skill set for delivering the football is fantastic...although we've seen before that when playing off the half back line he gets to choose when to go or not, and if he doesn't take the intercept mark he is a bit of a liability in the defense. I like Watts as a player for what he can offer, although he needs to be challenged to become more physical and i don't see that happening on the HBF. Thinking about it, i believe Kent has similar attributes as Wirrpanda and would be fantastic to see him setting up play from half back. The only problem is we need a forward line to kick to...and that is a different conversation all together.
  7. I wouldn't mind seeing him on the half back flank....tough, likes to tackle and will take the game on with speed. One thing's for sure...he's not winning any friends out of all this. Agree...is a long season and a couple of recent poor efforts have gone a long way to masking the very positive first half of the season. The win column doesn't have a lot in it, although i've seen a lot of positive signs that weren't there last season!
  8. It's on facebook.... All these people talking about nothing....i don't know why people bother posting that made up rubbish.
  9. Great to hear... i was getting a little worried that most of the talk was about Frawley leaving. In my opinion, Dunn has been much more impressive this year and would have been a huge loss.
  10. other forums i read often have raffles wherein items (ie demon memorabilia) is raffled off to help supplement the site running costs. I'm sure if there was a signed guernsey with raffle tickets costing $2 you'd easily be able to sell 500-1000. with these other forums, extra tickets were released and due to volume there ended up being 3 first prizes on offer. Would be a shame to see this great forum close the doors.
  11. If anyone who thinks the nickname Pedo for Cam Pederson is a little creepy don't fear there's an alternative! Cam had a fear of buttons when he was growing up...so there you go...buttons keep the good work up buttons!
  12. Not fast...but evasive. Great agility and side step. Was a nice game from him on the weekend.
  13. I just wanted to post something because i have a new avatar...
  14. Having a look at the points total against Melbourne and we've had only 483 kicked against us. This ranks us 9th in the competition & only 60 odd points away from the top rated defensive teams. I'm very impressed with this considering that Frawley has been playing forward and Garland has been injured. The team first defending has been great, pressuring the ball carrier from the center and our defensive structures have been working. Couple this with the quiet efficiency of McDonald and Georgio ect....well maybe there is life after Frawely if he chooses to leave? Now all we need to do is learn how to move the ball into the forward line and kick a few goals and we might win another game.
  15. Watts doesn't need any footy training...he needs to be trained into taking a hit. Every session watts should be training his tackling...just like forwards train for their goal kicking. Get him in the boxing ring...first against cross (4 rounds), then Viney hops into the ring for another 4 rounds (no break for Watts), then Nate Jones then against Dawes. Get Watts to go 16 rounds and fight when his back's against the wall. Teach him that he'll get hurt, but it won't last forever. He needs to learn to fight...and i don't mean as in throw a punch, but mentally when the chips are down and he's hurting, he needs to fight. Send him off to do his basic training in the army...teach him that his actions are about the net worth to the team, not about protecting his little pea heart.
  16. Watched the game with my old man and i have to agree with his comments on Watts. "Get him off the field and put someone else on that will tackle and chase"...I cannot defend his lack of endeavor anymore. I don't think he'll ever be anything more than Jog Watts. There was footage shown before the game with Cameron Ling pointing out Watts' chasing in the Gold Coast game. Chris Dawes sprinted from 15m behind Watts and chased Watts' man, didn't manage to tackle him, although put him under pressure all the while Watts just jogged along like it was never his responsibility. People are surprised that players like Dunn, M Jones, Pederson ect are improving while others with more talent aren't. The simple answer is that players willing to put the effort in and can play a roll are the type of players the fit the Roos game style. I'll be happy to see those players that think they're above the team, or in some way special and don't have to play by the team rules, moved on at years end.
  17. He looks like a nice one touch player....even in his few games he's played you see him pick the ball up in one clean swoop. Pair this with his agility and that's what will make him a dangerous small forward.
  18. I'd like to see Jetta get a run. He reminds me of Whelan a little, hard at the man and ball and loves to tackle. His style to me matches the high contested football that's played today....whether or not he'll make it is another question, although on current form he's worth a shot.
  19. I'm sorry to hear this news...here's hoping for a full and speedy recovery (and hopefully some extra zip!) On the other hand, one door closes and another opens....maybe this is the little bit of luck that Nev Jetta needs to re-ignite his career...good luck to him.
  20. Watts looks so composed in traffic & has a really nice side step. Was great to see tonight. Put a forward line in place and we'll look much better
