  1. I think Edwards proven marking and goal kicking ability would be welcomed at Melbourne. Think along the lines of Brad Green although not as good as him in his prime...definately better than Green circa 2011/12. Any senior player with the body to compete and to fill a glaring hole would be a welcome addition in my book.
  2. I like Rivers...although it seems that we've already replaced him in the backline with McDonald. Rivers played forward for a large chunk of the year and whoever we target during Trade week/FA to assist Clark will be the replacement for RIvers up front. Would i like to see him leave....No Would him leaving leave a massive hole....No Would the loss of experience be a problem....Depends on who we can attract to MFC Maybe now Junior has retired from GWS we could potentially welcome back some of our much needed leadership in some kind of coaching position?
  3. Re-assess after trade week and FA....may look very different.
  4. You obvously like the sound of the table tennis table at the old melbourne....i like the sound of the weights room at the new Melbourne.
  5. Why join Melbourne.... Join Melbourne because we are serious about becoming an elite club. The standards being set at Melbourne mirror the standards required to succeed. Come to Melbourne and get the best out of your god given talents because no longer does mediocrity live here. We have Neeld, Craig, Mission etc they know what an elite program looks like. At the moment everyone is crying because Melbourne is going through a hard prune. Our old flowers (and some young buds) have or will be cut. But guess what, after a hard prune the whole plant grows back bigger and stronger. The action starts now...and in my eyes it would be alot easier to convince players to come and buy into the new pro-active Melbourne than the old wait and see Melbourne. The Melbourne FC will no longer be the club where near enough is good enough...only players with the desire to give there all will be retained and recruited....i like the sound of the new Melbourne. Thats why i believe that players will want to come to Melbourne.
  6. just think of all the dollars we have to buy in some positive culture! No point paying people good money who don't want to play for the MFC. I like the harsh new world of the MFC, the last 6 years have sucked, we can't fall down the ladder much lower....it's only up from here, bring on the change!
  7. The following in my opinion are gone. Green Jurrah Moloney Bate Bartram (Depending on injury) Bennell Davis Morton Petterd The following will depend on trades, although i could see leaving the club. (ie. have trade value or need someone to come into the club to replace their role, therein being delisted) I don't believe all from the below list will leave...but not all will stay either. Cook Gysberts Martin Dunn Jetta MacDonald Davey Rivers So there you go...i don't think we'll get rid off all these players....but there's 17 potential changes that i could see happening.
  8. I like Moloney...but he hasn't performed this year. Bring in a midfielder with a bit of pace and diversity....i'm sick of of our 3rd world one paced midfield.
  9. I agree, and i believe that this is why we've seen a decrease in posessions and awful set shots from Trengove where he can't make the distance from 35m. He's just too stuffed from all his defensive efforts to run 100% both ways. At the moment he's 100% defensive and 40% attacking. It has been reported that internally Trengove is right up there in defensive efforts etc.
  10. I would have liked him in the team. It just goes to show the new melbourne, on the front foot trying to get players to improve our team. Rather than the last 5 years where it was the draft or bust.
  11. Reported in the HUN that we have offered him $2mill over 4 years. Apparently, it's going to be rejected though. Mackay to spurn $2m offer to leave Crows
  12. You guys are taking this moneyball thing too seriously...Don't waste your time on stats. The talk about moneyball players clearly means find and recruit undervalued players that will fill a roll for our team. For example, Sydney:- Josh Kennedy Ben McGlynn Rhys Shaw Marty Mattiner Shane Mumford Ted Richards etc. This doesn't mean x amount of tackels per game or picking players because of their stats. Just recruit players that will improve our team. I'm pretty sure StKilda did the same thing by aquiring Dempster and Schnieder and gave up very little.
  13. With this i agree with you with Carlton at least. At melbourne, we need to get rid of players like Bate who are inbetweeners and bring in pure midfielders. Oh and another genuine KPF would also be handy.
  14. Criteria...i've said nothing of criteria. I think keeping Magner, who's showed a willingness to work for years and years just to get a chance, then make his way into an afl list and then play just about every game for the season needs to be kept. You're the one who brought up Lawrence, who struggles to play casey reserves. = chalk and cheese. So what you're saying is that if we bring in 4 mids we need to get rid of 4 mids. Our midfield is our weakness. Bring in the best mids we can and get rid of the players who don't perform, whatever position they play.
  15. Seeing as you ignored the other part of my post...i'm going to assume that you think Melbourne currently has a perfectly balanced list.
  16. Oh i'm sorry i hadn't realised that Lawrence had played every game of the season in the seniors except the last one...how silly of me. Lawrence and Magner = chalk and cheese Don't let that get in the way of your cool story
  17. Sounds like a player Melbourne would be interested in.
  18. You seem to think that if you keep posting the same crap...that eventualy it'll be correct. Teams need players like Magner. They show heart, work ethic and a willingness to succeed. This breeds a good culture, you know, the thing melbourne's been lacking for god knows how long. Your belief that if we draft 4 mids, we need to delist 4 mids is laughable. You honestly think that Melbourne's balance within our list is perfect do you? How about we get rid of the 4 worst players we can....and bring in the best 4 we can....that'd be a start! Oh and this talk about matching Moloney's offer and then trading him....i'm pretty sure that under free agency we get compensated for any player that moves to a different club under the same guide lines as when GCS and GWS came in. If we don't want to match the money for Moloney...let him walk and receive afl compo for him.
  19. Agreed...would everyone be feeling the same if we were in a final or GF and steven Milne started to rough Watts up and he just stood there and took it? I'm not asking him to fight all the time like Moloney or change the way he plays the game...just stick up for himself. Watts is totally different to Davey...if we were talking about someone the same size...maybe someone like Bennell well yes, that may be relevant. So you feel comfortable with a 4th gamer who is half the size of Watts to get stuck into him.....but on the other hand...were probably loosing it over Tapscotts late hit on Fasolo??? I agree. I love the way Watts uses the pill and how smooth he is. He'll be a great player, and i have been loving his last month or so since switching to the backline. He's no Hurley, never will be, don't expect him to be...but needs to show some toughness. At the monent i'd back Robyn Nahas to touch him up.
  20. Maybe....maybe on the other hand the flea thinks that Watts is an easy target because he doesn't stick up for himself. People are enjoying how Jones flew the flag for Grimes and the MFC...well what's wrong with wanting Watts to fly the flag for himself and show that the time is coming where the MFC are no pushovers. Last time i checked this is AFL...not netball.
  21. Fair point...but in this instance i thought it may have been well worth it...put a cocky twig playing his 4th game back in his box.
  22. I personally loved seeing Jones running in to fly the flag for one of our captains! We need more of this....alternatively, i'd like to have seen Watts at least try and rough up/jumper punch Nathan Wilson (i think it was him) I remember him having tatts. It was near the start of the match and Wilson was getting into Watts, bumping him and what not. Watts just stood there and took it. Wilson according to his Profile is 185cm and 74kg. I know this type of attention doesn't seem to affect Watts, he just goes about the game...just would have been nice to see Watts put someone back in their box...considering it was only Wilson's 4th game...
  23. I agree. Rivers has been very good (and consistant) this year. The coming of age of Sellar and the great year that Tom McDonald is having, plus Frawley, will also allow rivers to not play on the gorilla forwards of the league. Which can only be a positive.
