  1. Ok, so everyone can put 2 & 2 together and see that we are recruiting taller and heavier midfielders to complement our smaller Jones' and Viney's. New to the club are as follows: Viv Michie - 185cm 85kg Dom Tyson - 186cm 80kg Bernie Vince - 185cm 86kg Daniel Cross - 187cm 86kg All this is nothing new, but here's the question that I want to ask...Can the forgotten midfielder in Rory Taggert be added to the list? He's 188cm & 85kg and after overcoming his back injuries was pushing for selection at the end of the year. I can see Taggert playing Sylvia's role rotating between HHF and midfield...he could be our forgotten recruit??
  2. I forgot how good some of his games were in the back half of the year. It's encouraging the depth that we are creating with our talls and to have someone like Fitzy to cover Clark and Dawes is fantastic for our club.
  3. Video clip up on the Dee's website with 2013 highlights. Didn't realise Bernie had such a nice kick on him...I knew it was good, but some of those kicks were Davey like...pleasant surprise! http://www.melbournefc.com.au/video/2013-10-22/bernie-vince-highlights
  4. When our team couldn't even get our hands on the ball, and Viney out for half a season with his foot injury, it still baffles me that Magner wasn't getting a game when he was getting leather poisoning in the 2's. I know our uncontested possessions were poor and we needed outside runners, but it would have also been nice to win some clearances too.
  5. I'd like to see him promoted. He adds midfield depth, and in a weak draft I'd prefer to have a ready to go Magner running around rather that using a late draft pick on a kid. Magner started 2012 with a bang and is a contested ball machine, as he tired through the season and for other team reasons he was used as a defensive half forward, which didn't really suit him. Put him back in the guts where he belongs.
  6. I think out of all of these probable available players mentioned for pick 9, for me at least, highlights how well we've done in trading pick 2. Dom Tyson would still be right up there in this draft if he was on the open market. For us to still be able to grab a quality player at pick 9 in a draft where the order of players after Tom Boyd is still basically unknown and the players are so even, is in my eyes a big tick to the Melbourne recruiting staff. With our midfield taking shape, I wouldn't be surprised if we take a big leap forward nest year. The KPP's are always the hard ones to replace, and we have a pretty good spine. I'll be intrigued to see if our instant midfield gels and hope that we all see the results that we have been craving for the last 7 years.
  7. I'm thinking Tyson will keep #29 If you watch the videos he wore 29 during the tac cup and also for GWS....we have #29 free at the moment...so why not keep him in 29.
  8. Like Mahoney said on Friday...there's a few players that we were looking at for pick 2 and our recruiting team are confidant that there'll be one at pick 9. If it's Freeman, then good. If it's Lenon, Crouch, Kolo, Taylor....then good. If other people are like me and don't really watch any under age footy...but then start to like the sound of Freeman purely based on other uneducated footy people like me saying that Freeman's a jet, then it's the blind leading the blind. If Viney and Taylor think one of there preferred picks will be there at 9...then relax and enjoy the ride. Don't stress about maybe loosing Freeman.
  9. I'd prefer to hold onto pick 9 in the draft for one of the many mids proposed to go at that pick....but for the reason bolded above I wouldn't be upset to trade 9 for say Danny Myers.
  10. Emma Quale I believe said the other day that we were into Kade Kolodjashnij....he would be one player in line for pick 9
  11. I like the fact we got pick 9 back too.... we could either take it to the draft or even trade it for someone like Myers....which I wouldn't mind either
  12. Gilbert Gardiner Dees will be heavily involved over the next few days, room to move and have a couple likely types Blease, Tapscott on the table 1:07 PM I posted this in another thread, but thought it deserved its own topic... What do people think we could get for them?
  13. Gilbert Gardiner Dees will be heavily involved over the next few days, room to move and have a couple likely types Blease, Tapscott on the table 1:07 PM Apparently we have both Blease and Tapscott on the table.....wonder what we could get for them?????
  14. Hawks big winners out of this....McEvoy is a great ruckman and will do very well out of this
  15. Denham's been on the money recently....I for one don't see this at all far fetched. Brisbane - Leuenberger (may grab jamar as insurance) GWS - Mumford, Giles (don't need Jamar unless Giles leaves) Syd - Pyke (may grab jamar as insurance) WB - AA Minson (may grab jamar as insurance) Carlton - Kreuser, Warnok (don't need Jamar) GC - Have plenty of ruckmen
  16. PJ did his shoulder against Sydney putting his body on the line....he wasn't a pansy....he was just an ordinary flanker in a ruckmans body who couldn't take an overhead mark to save himself. Oh yeah...I saw you there, that was right after you delivered a set of twins via caesarean using a pocket knife, whilst also putting 3 Essendon players under a citizens arrest because you saw them dealing drugs. You were also eating a sandwich.
  17. Look at the positives...now we have an extra 500-600k? To throw at a true midfielder...not a hhf like Sylvia
  18. Anyone hearing that Sam Reid is on his way to Freo???? Maybe our pick 2 could facilitate a trade between freo and Sydney...with a couple of players coming our way?
  19. I'm happy to hear this...hopefully he can be our josh kennedy type?!
  20. I like him as a player...good endurance, puts his body on the line etc. If he'd had more continuity of games I think he'd show what talent he has. Although as others have said, would another head injury worth it?
  21. Watts doesn't have the body or temperament to play as an inside mid like Kennedy... He'll be more like Daniel Wells/Nick Dal Santo with a silky boot IMO Agree
  22. We have been in a development stage for the last 7 years...we are now in a 'need results now stage'. Cross will improve our team...he's in.
  23. http://www.afl.com.au/news/2013-09-17/boyd-buoyed-by-final Zak Jones put in a starring performance in last week's comeback win over Calder Cannons, with 28 disposals, 10 tackles and 10 clearances. The hardened half-back has moved into a midfield role and is also pushing up the draft order after a stellar season. "He's become an elite player at this level," Yeats said. "He's tough, runs straight, competes, and would eat a footy. He's a little bit mad, so we give him very simple instructions about his role and we let him go." Slow down Zak!!!
