  1. i was much too young to go to the meeting at DBH, concerning the merger. My dad has told me every time it has been brought up between us, that they only asked those who opposed the merger, if they wanted to change their vote.
  2. That we are [censored] deplorable.
  3. If we get to halfway through the year without a FOJ sponsor, i have no doubt that the board simply not renew CS contract. Simple Looking at the video on the MFC website discussing the FOJ sponsor, CS still hopes to get it done by the start of the H&A season. He also states that it won't have a huge influence on $ coming in. This leads me to believe that the sponsorship won't be anywhere near EW, but in future, will amount to something big.
  4. Exactly rhaz. I'd much rather thrive than survive
  5. Totally agree with your post/tweet to the club Hardtack. I have long held the view that the club doesn't treat its members with the amount of respect i would expect of a club aspiring to become 'elite'. If there is any news about the MFC, melbournefc.com.au is just about the last source to inform people, abhorrent. On top of this, injury updates continually seem to be wildly inaccurate. We are not a big club, and we are getting smaller it seems (with our membership numbers seriously staggering), yet the club seems to want to test the loyalty of many of its supporters. I understand the club wants to keep sponsorship dealings hush hush until they are signed off on, but given that we have been given the same response from the club for near on 7 months about our next joint-major sponsor, members are well in their rights to ask questions of the club. I don't give a stuff if the Chinese take longer to come to terms, what i care about is the financial security of our club, and those who are in charge of it. It is now 2 consecutive vacant sponsorship times that within 2 weeks of the season start, we still haven't sorted out our sponsorship dealings. Only one word can describe this, amateurish. I don't care if Schwab comes out tomorrow announcing a $2m+ per year sponsor, because the questions will still remain over our ability to land sponsors. It was in a recent post where i read that lapsed members from last year had not even received a renewal notice for the upcoming season. True supporters don't need a reminder to sign up, but that is irrelevant. The question must be asked, how competent is our membership department? It was reported by the club that we still had roughly 10-15,000 members yet to renew from last year, and yet renewal notices hadn't been sent to some, if not many of these people. Pathetic. This club seems to want to achieve 'elite' status. Might i suggest that the MFC start treating its most valuable commodity in a manner that is befitting of an 'elite' organisation.
  6. Our re-build will very much come in the form of this years trade/draft period, in which we will use our CP's (one would think). Players also not up to MN's standards will be traded or delisted. Given this draft is meant to be a fairly deep one, hopefully we'll pick up some gems and not need to do a full re-build for some time to come.
  7. Yeah it's getting a bit frustrating. If anyone had a clue about PR at the club, they'd realise the sooner we announce it, the better. Given our recent hiding from the dorks, the Alice Springs controversy, and now the McGuire interview, we need to get some good press out for the club. Not only for our image, but if we want to continue to get members on board, the past week is not the way to go about it.
  8. Not that we ever needed permission from McChins, but i'd say this latest scandal involving McGuire surely must result in us pinching the filths recruiting assistant.
  9. Excuse my ignorance, but where is the Chinese connection with Starwood? As it seems like it's an American enterprise.
  10. If you really want to do your head in, if we lost to Carlton the first time we played them in 2007, not the Kreuzer cup (they then went on to lose something like 12 games in a row), Richmond would've finished last, we'd have gotten pick 2 (and Trent Cotchin, not Morton) and to top it off, Carlton wouldn't have been able to lure Judd across.
  11. LOL, i have been going through the 2007-2011 drafts and we could have some absolute jets (of course hindsight is a wonderful thing)
  12. Compound fracture to his index finger.
  13. Huge one would think. Not as big though. As Jaded has said, we have no class in the middle, all we can rely on is the contested grunt work. Now one of the main planks in that plan has gone off with a compound fracture to his finger.
  14. the 2012 draft unfortunately.
  15. Magner off with a possible broken finger - could see bone apparently (3aw boundary rider)
  16. Jurrah in trouble, getting pumped by the Hawks, whoever is in charge at the Dees needs to recognise that the sooner we announce the sponsor the better, giving at least some good news, or else we will struggle to get close to 35,000 members this year.
  17. Mate, they could come out tomorrow announcing a $5m/year deal and i'd still feel a little low, given what has transpired in the past 2 days.
  18. 'expected to face police charges', i don't like the sound of that
  19. If every other club had the #1 pick, they all would have chosen Scully (except maybe the SA clubs). Nevertheless, what i find extremely damning, is that Prendergast didn't even talk to D. Martin. Let's just say, that i am not all that upset that he has left the club, as i don't think he earned his coin whilst being the head recruiter. During his time, we had ample high picks (1st and 2nd round) and the jury is still out on many of them. We cannot put Taggert & Tynan in the Prendergast group, as Neeld was the one who wanted to draft them, not Barry. As of right now, our kids are not the best in the league, not by a long shot. Thank Christ we have got another 3 first rounders this year (presumably), allowing Neeld to fix the train-wreck that was Bailey and Prendergast.
  20. Loved the way Neeld is going about it. If he knows where he wants to position his players, he's gonna play them there as much as possible. That is the best and quickest way to develop them, none of this play them on a flank or a wing b/s. Sure he may get some confidence with playing in another position, but he gains no experience playing as a key forward. It might be seen as throwing him to the Wolves, but Watts has to learn what it takes to become a good KPF. We used our #1 draft pick on him, and sure whilst draft pick #'s don't determine how good a player will become, when using a #1 pick on a player, you expect that player to become an integral part of your team. We drafted Watts to play as one of our key forwards, play him in that position to fast-track him becoming one. He's had 3 years and 40-odd games experience to learn the caper, it's now time to see if he wants to become the player we thought and want him to be.
  21. To cancel a game because GWS just aren't ready, is really GW$ own fault. They chose to go down the youth path, by bringing in a tonne of kids in the draft and refused to pick up any decent (or even half decent) mature players. They dug their grave, now they can lie in it. Serves them right and hopefully the club is such a shambles on the field, just like it is off it, that come 2 years time, there's a mass exodus of good young kids. I don't really like GC either, but they are showing up GWS big time in terms of professionalism.
  22. I reckon it says just as much about those who backed Bailey to the hilt when 1) He was MFC coach & 2) When they first hired him and his utopian power point presentation (i'd love to take a glance at what he put in it - as opposed to what he put into place on the field)
  23. If the weekends game was anything to go by, Bennell should be kept as far away from the backline as possible. He has a great burst on him, is agile and is capable of doing some good things in close. Give him a decent run (along with Lawrence at some point throughout the year) as playing the crumbing forward.
  24. HAHA, we won by 3 points. Brissie with a shot just on the final siren missed, a lot similar to us in the first game.
  25. quick, flood the backline, lol. Seriously!! It's only NAB cup and it's our first run against real opposition using Neeld's plan. Did you all think it was going to go off without a hitch?
