  1. I like that Hogan as being rested for finals, just for the clear indication that it means they intend on playing him. Obviously in the past we've seen key players get pulled. Which other players are eligible for the finals? It would be good to see Fitzpatrick, Clisby et al get the opportunity to play finals since they were strong contributors to Casey's early season form.
  2. No. As an insider he's second rate, and he doesn't help with our biggest issue which is outside run. In a year where we've been screaming out for quality mids, two coaches have turned their back on him. He was worth the shot but I wouldn't keep him.
  3. I didn't comment on the attractiveness of the MFC coaching job.
  4. There must have been a deadline, i.e. the last week you can upgrade a rookie for a LTI, so it becomes a case of "might as well". Otherwise, I'm with you lot.
  5. Anyone care about the side? Davis and Jordie are in, Gawn and Toumpas out.
  6. Certainly plausible but not probable. I wouldn't think the Essendon job would look all that attractive at the moment; you wouldn't even know if they were playing for points next year or not. I know that outcome is extreme and unlikely, but my point is that you would have no idea what you were signing up for at Essendon, and Roos doesn't strike me as the sort to gamble with his potential coaching career.
  7. Imagine how many teams he'd be coaching if he *was* interested in coaching again!
  8. A pick in the 50s which we spent on Brad Miller.
  9. Dunno. He's been around for the entire 10 years I have and he's offered me great amusement over the years, especially early on.
  10. I was 19 when I started posting here. I was 22 when my first was born, and her grinning baby face was my avatar for years before the forum software wiped it in an upgrade two years ago, and I haven't bothered to replace it. I turn 30 later this year. I think that about tells the story :-)
  11. I would have thought the last thing we needed was players who are not dependable, no matter how occasionally classy they are.
  12. It's been demonstrated on this forum time and time again to the point where I reckon it's almost scientifically accepted: footy supporters can only remember the last week of footy that was played. GWS are rubbish and will not win another game. They beat us because we're just as rubbish, and their peak in form coincided with our trough. As you said, they're most likely going to be absolutely spanked in their run home.
  13. I have four kids, and I'm more fussy about grammar than ever.
  14. It's a risk and one the club must manage, but for mine it's not one worth raising a sweat over as a supporter. If we worry over every possible scenario that could happen over the next few years, we will never sleep again.
  15. Jack Martin signs contract extension and Jesse Hogan doesn't so Hogan must be gone. Isn't the Human brain amazing in how it can make logic jumps like that? When Hogan's contract expires in two years from now he'll have a nice Melbourne local girlfriend, will be living with a couple of his best mates that he'll have been playing footy with for 3 years, and will have had a taste of the absolute worship that will come with being a star footballer. Even if he's homesick now, if he still is by late 2015 I'll be staggered.
  16. 3 out of our best 5 players are still on the list.
  17. We're crap. Is that an excuse or a reason? I can no longer tell the difference after all these years on Demonland.
  18. Hah, you might give yourself a bit more credibility if you didn't resort to wild hyperbole. He isn't even amongst the worst that took to the field yesterday. There are some seriously pox players in our side at present.
  19. Thank heavens we're in the position we're in now instead.
  20. I am absolutely bored stiff. Too much emotional fatigue to be upset about this. Take away both the emotion and excitement from sport and there is absolutely nothing left to keep me watching other than feeling like I should.
  21. You are entitled to speak for yourself only. Anyway I doubt you will read this response, because you'll subscribe to the "if the topic doesn't interest you, you won't open the thread" mantra won't you?
  22. Zero weeks where I feel like watching the football is some cruel form of torture.
  23. Haha, yeah, reckon the Dogs would be scrambling to offload their best young player.
  24. The idea of the Board reviewing its own performance is ridiculous, and shows in the executive summary. I particularly liked this bit: Jeez, thank goodness we had you guys there to manage us, since the CEO you hired and then extended couldn't. It was critical that the Board acted as a Board and let management manage in 2008, it isn't a new thing now.
  25. Why's that? I thought there was a mandatory 2 year commitment to interstate rookies?
