WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - DANIEL CROSS
Cheap Seats replied to MadAsHell's topic in Melbourne Demons
I really liked the Corss interview and I really like Daniel Cross - can't argue that he doesn't have a red hot crack every week. Which is more that can be said for others.... But I have to agree with Cudi - most of these guys are just losers - you can see it on the field -
Thanks longsuffering - WJ's report from the DA function was fantastic - their work should be applauded I can accept where the club is at and the amount of time it's going to need to turn this club around (I had hoped I made that clear) - I also don't dispute the off field team in the FD and Glenn Bartlett & Peter Jackson are the best the MFC have had in a long time. What I am trying to articulate is the job Roos has to do might be bigger then he or anyone else expected. I reckon we'll get flogged by GWS this weekend and then watch the hounds in the media circle. Things may get a lot worse before they get better..... All I really want to know is how are we going to eliminate the same mistakes I see year after year - simply mistakes like fumbling, missed tackles and lack of pressure - the 1% the MFC players haven't been able to get right for years?? I guess to summaries is - it really is worrying how hard the task of turning the Footy club around is - I've hear a lot - tons of talk but I see no change on field in over 6 years. I know were are only 2 weeks to a new regime and Roos and Co need a lot more time..... but old habits die hard and it's obvious a lot of the playing group continue to have the bad habbits and can't to th 1% which will lead to us losing badly again this weekend I wont stop supporting this great club - but I am predicting a lot more bad times this year... Do we as a club have the patience to see that the job gets done properly? We all clearly remember the Neeld disaster once the players went in to their shells I am being negative but I can see the same trends happening all over again
-
Just to add to your list - or blokes with no skill or composure Through out the past 3 rebuilds I have always had no doubt in my mind that this club will turn around under the right regime..... After our continued bad lack and poor performances to the start of this season and it looks like players have already retreated to their shells in rd 2 - I really am worried for this club We will lose this week badly again on current performance and forr years now we keep seeing the same mistakes over and over again, round in and round out.... Apologies to blokes like the Jones boys, Cross, Vince, Garlo and a handful of others but the players are either lazy or don't give a f*$% I accept a rebuild and being beaten by a better team like WCE, and make no mistake WCE are a contender this year - but to continually shirk contests, continually miss tackles not apply pressure, fumble year after year there is no excuse..... When does that stop? That's the real worry for me - that this group is fractured to the point where even Roos can't save us. I predict we'll get flogged this week and the pressure and embarrassment will only get worse from here.

I saw him say that last night as well - he didn't quite smash the rumour but it's not what you expect from Roosy. We will probably never know if it really ever happened but personally I hope it happened as I really am just disgusted now that a group of individuals can be so poor and so leaderless and fold so easily. Anyway moving on (as I hope the players do) as annoyed as I've been with our performance so far I am actually excited to see what Roos does this week.... it's sad I know but I'm living on hope as that's all I've got left haha

Roos sounding like Neeld (The Age)?
Cheap Seats replied to John Crow Batty's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yeh fair enough i hear what you're saying... and i agree the club will go no where if there isn't trust in the group Time will tell i guess how the players will respond.... Heard Roos on AFL 360 tonight and I think he is a pretty level headed bloke From my personal POV I was disgusted with Sunday and some performances I guess I wanted Roos to spray them haha -

At the end of the day will it make a difference? How much worse can they play after that spray? Surely you can't accept that performance on the weeked? I know we're starting a long way back but that performance on the weekend from a professional club can not be tolerated as the performance the MFC serves up each week. -

I really like this post you've summed up some of my thoughts really well The problem is from an outside POV it looks like some players think it's just going to happen - they'll be good one day or it's the clubs fault that they're poor players After 5 or 7 coaches or whatever figure it is over the past 5 years (including the fill ins) it is pretty clear the majority of the blame lays with the players or their ability or their attitutde toweards AFL footy IF anyone can argue that Roos isn't getting the best out of the players then the MFC is f'd and we might as well fold because we won't win games for years to come. The mistakes players made on the weekend are unacceptable at AFL level and they continually make them over and over again year after year..... dropping marks, missing kicks, fumbling, missing tackles it's a disgrace Sure they need edcuatoin and guidence but f me there has to be a line drawn and if you can't do the basics you won't play -

Clearly didn't watch the game did our boy Cherny I find it amusing that anyone that watched us v WCE can give a pass mark to any more then a handfull of players I don't understand soceity these - since when is someone else responsible for someone elses effort or ability -
I reckon time has proven you correct Scoop. But in saying that I think it's naive blaiming all our woes on Neeld (not saying you are but it is used a lot). As I stated earlier the MFC has been it's own worst enemy and i don't know what reputations the players have been dreaming of that they have.... I firmly believe Roos is our man - it's pretty obvious it's not going to happen overnight (which does sadden me it's been bloody disappointing so far 2014) but I agree with you about actually having faith in the Roos direction over Neeld I liked Neeld only because I thought he'd eventually toughen up this squad - he failled and only fractured the group further. I heard Dermie say he heard Roos gave the players the biggest and most direct spray he reckons the MFC players have ever heard after the WCE game - will be interesting to see what happens Roosy has the runs on the board so if they don't take that on board we're f'd again ...
-
Agree with what you and Scoop have said Wanted to add although it had to happen rightly or wrongly (moving on Bailey and Neeld) has also set the club back a long way as development (if any) and list management was thrown out the door with the new regimes.... We are years behind the competition in terms of development and players - I believe the only way to get back on top is back in the Roos regime to the hilt. We can't keep chopping and changing and expect batter results will happen instantly That's my 2 cents anyway
-
One season? I thought he was faking the injury so he didn't have to play for the MFC at all

Very sad to hear of the passing of Dean Bailey RIP - the footy world and the world has lost a real good bloke
-
You could be right about the fitness - I have no idea - Commentator did say he tried hard - Only Roosy & Mission would know if he's fit or not I can't really comment (as I haven't seen enough of him) I see your point but, what I am trying to say is everyone copped a hard run in 2013 - let's move on to 2014 and he wasn't terrible in the first game against the Tigs - Crashed a pack or 2 which I think got a scoring opportunity... You're probably right if your judging on elite standards though - but maybe a little harsh too early?
-
The ol stats don't lie debate - My 2cents on the whole Pedo debate - average player but will be needed to fill gaps as the season goes - so hoping he can stand up. I didn't go to the game on Friday but watched it on Foxtel - Commentators said Pedo ran his guts out trying to make options for defenders down the ground all night. Can't complain about that Those stats you bring up Stuie, you failed to mention Frawley gave up a stinker goal - wonder how many Pedo set up? Stats are a [censored] way to argue IMO - they can always be manipulated to the argument and not give the whole picture. Pedo is no and will never be a superstar but bagging him after one game is f'n stupid... he could be important if our Bigs don't get on the ground

PJ is an intelligent CEO who has great football knowledge Will be very hard to replace - we might get a smooth operator as CEO but they're unlikely to have the Footy brains PJ has Agree with Stuie - forget Chip - PJ is the most important employee at the MFC

Will be a jet...... never doubted it Haha D'landers not shy to pass judgement early - Toump had zero support in yr 1, what is he 18/19 paying against men, in a team getting flogged with no real leaders on ground (apologies to Nat Jones & Garlo) not surprised he was low on confidence - hopefully as he and the team gets better we'll see the best of Toump -
Happy new year all, Just watched the vids from the AGM............ sigh I'm back on board for 2014, I've been suckered in again haha let the fun begin!!! C'mon Dees 2014!

I agree I don't think Adam will come to us PSD but it would be a massive W for us - keep an eye on this situation though. Hopefully the Pies negotiate like the Bummers and Adams goes PSD Who are our likely PSD targets? Cross Anyone else?

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/collingwood-and-gws-are-at-a-stand-off-over-the-heath-shaw-trade/story-fni5f6hd-1226742691457 Although there is a week to go in the trade period and it is highly likely that a deal will get done, I'd love to see a stalemate in the trade for Taylor Adams and Shaw stay at the Pies. It would be a dream offseason if the MFC got lucky enough to snag Adams in the PSD I realise it's only a dream at this stage - but damn it would be good. Mods - feel free to merge with rumour thread but I thought it would be good to have a laugh at the pies and ponder the PSD 2 pick and if we'll use it on Cross or someone else Cheers
-
Agree I support the club not the player - don't get me wrong love Frawley and he's a gun. THis club will remain a [censored] kicker until it gets ruthless in all aspects of it's operations

SHould change the Thread title name NO rumours here
