I'd wager we're after him or Archie Perkins, who is a lively mid/half forward with good burst of pace, good agility, good leap and hits the scoreboard. If we get pick 14, one of them might make it to our pick and would be gold.

Far more. In fact TMacs best year rates 4th between the pair. We all long for TMac to return to his 2018 form, but even that was a level below what Brown produced for years. If you rate their seasons when they played as forwards: 1. Brown 2019 - 64 goals 2. Brown 2017 - 63 goals 3. Brown 2018 - 61 goals 4. Tmac 2018 - 53 goals 5. Brown 2016 - 41 goals 6. Brown 2015 - 32 goals 7. TMac 2017 - 23 goals 8. TIE Brown 2014 - 18 goals & TMac 2019 - 18 goals Neither played enough in 2020 to bother commenting due to injury. Brown for a second round pick would be one of the biggest trading coups in recent memory. If he gets to even half his best, he'll win our goal kicking and help our forward structure immensely. Get it done Dees!

Dawson is the good kick and future gun IMO. He's not up for grabs and if he was, we'd be going hard. Hewitt is more a lockdown mid who wins inside ball sometimes. I'd pass as he doesn't fill a need for us.

Hind is a below average player. Can't see why we'd bother chasing him and offering 3 years. He plays like a ****ter version of Hannan, but without the leap. Kicks a goal every second game. He's behind Kent and about 15 others for the Saints. If this is the kind of player we're chasing and offering 3 year contracts too, then we're going nowhere fast. St Kilda stock up on proven talent like Jones, Hill, Ryder, Butler, Crouch, Higgins etc. while we take their discards. So frustrating.

Disappointing he's nominated the Saints. Strange choice too for someone who "just wants to play footy", as Saints have an abundance of half forward-mids in Billings, Butler, Gresham, Lonie, Sinclair, Kent, Hind etc. Saints cleaning up with some decent players traded in last year and this year. We're dropping further behind the 8-ball!

That's exactly why they extended it - to keep AFL in the media spotlight for longer into the off-season. The irony is, by dragging it out, they make it more dull and kill the interest. For me personally, I was hyped for off-season, but with free agency running for a while and now trade week, I've already stopped tuning in and will just check here next week for news and opinions. Same thing goes for draft night. Having it split across two nights is ridiculous. These are kids that 99% of people have never even heard of. This isn't a US sport like NBA where college sports are popular and the kids are older etc. It's just stupid. I think I read they were changing it back to one night this year? If so, good. I've not heard much inside goss since before off-season this year. All I know is we are trying to get up the draft order a bit this year and want TMac off the books.

According to Geelong list manager on Trade Radio, the Cats are interested in keeping lively midfielder Quinton Narkle, but it will be dependent on list sizes. We'll take him off your hands for a cheap price...

I agree and was vocal on here this year about poor selections that were clearly based on favouritism or reputation rather than actual output. All comes down to culture. Gotta love the c word!

They should reduced free agency period and trade week period to just be a week. Stop drawing the [censored] out and just get it done. If they want to drive excitement, then that's how to do it. When it's dragged out, we all tune out.

The contract wasn't a huge mistake, it just hasn't worked out due to injury. Tom was very very good in second half of 2017 and 2018. He kicked over 70 goals through this period and was standing up amongst the best key forwards in the comp. He was coming into free agency. We signed him for 4 years. That wasn't a huge mistake. What's happened since is a player who's been plagued by ongoing foot injury issues. It's been unfortunate for both the club and Tom. It's unlucky. He's worked his [censored] off, his work ethic can't be questioned. His talent hasn't just disappeared. His body has let him down. It didn't help matter that the clubs fitness team got him to add muscle bulk to his upper body, which exasperated his foot issues. The club is now stuck with him contracted for another 2 years on a high amount (circa 700k). It's a big price to pay for someone struggling for both fitness and form. Unless another club has heaps of cap space cleared up (Essendon?), he won't be going anywhere. If he does stay, hopefully he can drop weight and find form again, most likely down back IMO.

This will be a token trade to help out the player. We won't be getting much value for him. He was a pick 46 in 2017, we'll probably get a pick in the 50s back for him. Will always remember that running goal against the Cats in finals!

Saints loading up for a flag tilt. Fair play to them for attracting and securing established talent. Would gladly take every player they’ve traded in over the past 12 months. Let’s see if it pays off in the next few years or if they crash and need another rebuild. They’ve definitely gone past us now.

Why would they not match it if that’s all they’re getting? They probably could’ve got more by trading him. Odd decision.

Traded to GWS for pick 54. Ouch! We cashed out at the right time. He likely won't be on an AFL list in two years time. What a massive fall from grace.

Good write up Lucifer. Won't be first rounder for Brown. Few picks and players discussed. Treloar sounded very unlikely. Philips not sure, as Josh keeps spriuking the internal candidates to fill the wing role line. He also mentioned during discussion of future first trade with North for Pickett that we would like to move our first pick of 25 higher if possible. Always wanting to get a higher position in the draft.

Hard pass. Would prefer to bring Dean Turlich out of retirement than bother with a broken Jack Steven.

Tmac has ongoing foot and ankle problems. He will have to manage them for the remainder of his career, and they've clearly effected his ability to perform. He's less agile than my grandmother at this point! I have no doubts over is work ethic though. He's always been a strong trainer and high endurance athlete. He's also had to deal with having his first baby and then moving into a hub this year etc. His days as a KPF are done IMO. His form has been poor for two years, and with Brown coming in, Weid and Jackson both surpassed him this year too. I think he needs to move to the backline again. He'd have May and Lever as talls there with him now, unlike his time there in the past where he was the number 1 defender. He'd also be able to pass the ball off to Salem, Rivers, Hibberd etc as runners to rebound. It's worth a shot if he wants to save his career and if we want to get something for the giant contract we're stuck with if we can't move him on.

Haven't heard that, but reckon it's a great move. With Jetta on his last legs, getting another small defender in on the cheap would be smart.
