Because Isaac Weetra could've kicked 5 in the same position. He did zero work for the goals and could've been replaced by anyone and the outcome wouldn't have changed. The scoreboard flattered us, this was a 10 goal loss. It came down to the midfield, as it always does.
-
Yeah he kicked 5 goals but had zero impact on the game as evidenced by the fact neither coach game him a single vote out of the 10 despite the 5 goals. Just stood there and made the most of his teammates work. He's so overrated Stringer, crumbled the second he has any pressure on him and kicks a bag in did matches when no one is near him.

Holding the ball / prior opportunity / incorrect disposal
Lord Travis replied to Bluey's Dad's topic in Melbourne Demons
The Doggies players are coached to drop their shoulder or knees, and they milk it to perfection. Lachie Hunter must play with a hung knee, as the second he touches the ball and drops a knee and raises his shoulder. He's the softest player I've ever seen take an AFL field. If they change the rules or interpret them correctly, he'd have 20 less touches a game and not be paid 4-5 free kicks. At one stage a week or two back he had more free kicks in a quarter than the whole opposition team! -
Modernized Bailey-ball. All attack off half back and we either score heavily or get done. Would prefer we don't push both halfbacks up as our defense gets sucked up the ground too in our losses. Seeing guys like N Reiwoldt just standing by himself inside 50 is just stupid.

When's blokes half his size like Ben Kennedy can kick goals from further out more consistently... You got a problem. The coaches need to address it. His set [censored] accuracy this year is less than 50% when you take into account the shots that didn't even score. That's not good enough and well below average.
-
In the last 2 weeks from sets shots he's kicked 2.5 and 4 that failed to score. 2 shots out of 11 is a horrible ratio. He needs to fix his kicking or he becomes nothing more than an average player sucking up to much salary cap.

It's pretty simple with us at the moment. If we show up and bring intensity around the contest, we win, or at least go close (North game). If we don't show up and bring intensity around the contest we get blown away in an open game. Bring intensity, hope Nathan Jones starts a fight, and enjoy the ride to victory!

Weideman is developing ahead of schedule. He's showing great ability already and is close to matching what Hogan did at VFL level in his first year. Once he adds more strength to his upper body he'll be a ripper at AFL level. Hulett is going nicely as well. He's still learning and is a bit behind, but he uses his body well and attacks the contest. He just needs to work on consistency and leading to the right spots.
-
Not watching but if he has been concussed again then the club needs to give him an extended break as that's 3-4 concussions this year and he hasn't looked like the same player.

MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 8
Lord Travis replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I don't think is a generational entitlement thing, I think it's been so long since the team was in this position that we are used to young kids being given a go if they show the slightest sign of form. The fact he is struggling to break into the team just shows how far we've come and it's still foreign to many after 10 years of rubbish. ANB will get his chance at some stage and hopefully he'll make the most of it. He's a talented and determined youngster and I love that he gets to a lot of contests and hit he scoreboard at senior level last year too. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CLAYTON OLIVER
Lord Travis replied to Freddy Fuschia's topic in Melbourne Demons
He's my favorite player and is already our best inside player. Not surprised our clearances drop off when he's not in there contested and releasing his teammates. This kid is special and we f*cking nailed this draft pick! -
I'd prefer the team just rock up and beat them. its embarrassing to have lost to an average team for 10 years straight.
-
Family friend of my fathers and he is a great negotiator, firm but fair. I said on here when we appointed him he would be great for us and provide us with solidarity off field. He's done just that and helped rebrand us too. He doesn't get talked up as much as PJ but he's doing a great job.
-
He just went home to visit family, all players get time to do this if they have family elsewhere. He wouldn't have been talking to anyone football related at all. I hadn't read anything about his father being sick until the last few days. Where did this news come from? if that's true, then he's gone and is Scott Thompson Mach 2. Here's hoping it's not true and he's still enjoying life in Melbourne.

Have we had the easiest draw? (Rds 1 - 7)
Lord Travis replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
It was already acknowledged the first half of our draw was very easy. The second half was where it gets tough. Realistically we need to beat some top 8 teams to be with a chance of finals in second half of the year. We have squandered an easy draw and realistically should be 6-1 or 5-2 at worst. Until we learn to show up every game and stop dropping games like the Essendon one we won't be a challenger. We have definitely improved but it's all about consistency now. -
What was said? What did they discuss?

Jack Viney signs huge new 4 year deal.
Lord Travis replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Never in doubt but still great news. Go Dees! -
We are a decent chance to win this as its at the G. Bulldogs won't be as good there as Etihad, so if we show up with our intensity it will be a good match.
-
He started getting used to the speed of the game in the 2nd half. He was decent last week and this week in contested situations, he stands up in tackles and gives off quick handballs to setup goals. He needs to work on his set shits as he keeps hooking then left, but it's been a decent first two games and he could develop into something special for us.
-
Was just a clash of bodies with force coming from different directions. He will be fine. Love that he took out two blokes in 30 seconds! Human wrecking ball!
-
He was great last night. He's confidence to run and fun for someone so inexperienced is impressive. He needs to work on his kicking as they're a bit up and under, but he's developing beautifully and should be on our hbf for years to come.
-
He's been super impressive. I was skeptical when we drafted him, but he has proved me wrong. He's become my favorite player! He reminds me so much of Michael Voss. Just so big and powerful, able to take the ball in a pack, have two guys hanging off him and still get his arms free and fire off a perfect handball to release a player. His strength and vision is something I can't remember seeing in a Melbourne player before. So excited by his first few games! He's hit the scoreboard in a few matches too! If he can hit the scoreboard and get a bit more ball outside when we spread and link up he'll become the best player ever!
-
Go the f*cking Dees! Rapt with that second half. Got a man crush on Oliver. He is such a beast, so solid and amazing around the stoppages. He's just like Michael Voss!
-
Trac again! Starting to gain confidence now is the kid

Petracca first goal! Well done kid!
