  1. If we can get Lynch, we'd be stupid not to try. He's a good lead up forward and leads the AFL in goal assists, while banging through 27 of his own. Not only that, he averages 20 disposals a game working up the ground. He'd immediately become one of the most productive players in our team. On work ethic alone he is worth it. Big upgrade on someone like Dawes who tries but just can't cover ground and clunk marks. Lynch would fill this role for us and setup Hogan nicely. He has a young family and therefore wants a longer contract to help secure his families future. Adelaide only prepared to offer 2 years at about 350k. We're offering 3 or 4 years 400-500k. In the grand scheme of things, we've paid for more than that for spud players. He'd be worth the investment as he'd actually give us some output for the outlay. We'd probably just on trade the pick we get for Howe leaving.
  2. I'm hoping we trade our first round pick for a quality developed AFL midfielder. If not, and having not watched TAC this year and going purely off footage, Parish looks the best of those mentioned. He seems the most well rounded, skilled and intelligent midfielder. Curnow interests me though. I couldn't find any footage of him as he has been injured I believe? He's listed as a big forward who has played stints in the midfield. At 191cm he is too small to be a key forward at AFL level. Could he be developed into a full time midfielder? It would be great to have a big midfielder in the Fyfe/Kennedy/Watson/Pendlebury mould. Anyone have more info on what Curnow is like as a player and if this is realistic?
  3. He'd be a good get. Back in 2008 we wanted to draft him with our picks in the early 30s, but Brisbane pinched him from us a few picks earlier and we wound up with Bennell It would likely cost us a second rounder or a player and I think it'd be worth it. He is a solid midfielder, good inside ball winner and tackler. We need midfield depth and he'd add to that and be a far better option than most on our list.
  4. Huge deal. 2.508 billion. I just hope the digital side gets made better. I want to be able to watch live on a computer and not have to resort to my iPhone.
  5. If Harley is committed to footy and not living like a rockstar then he is well worth whatever can be offered to him. Potential top 5-10 player in the league and is already producing very good form since returning from his mishap. He'd be a great addition to our midfield if we can lure him. We still have a bottom 4 midfield, and while we have some young promising talent, it is just that, promise. We've been down that road before. We need to get proven gun midfielders into our team asap or we'll finish bottom 4-5 again next year and lose more players to better teams.
  6. So Mcdonald and Tyson both injured at training. Final 22 to be announced later tonight.
  7. Would love to land Treloar but there's been no link to us publicly. If he is leaving GWS and coming home to Victoria then I'd hope the club has spoken to him and given him a good offer. He's a quality young midfielder who would slot into our team perfectly. He's in a good age bracket for us too, 22 years old and closing in on 100 games. He'd be at his peak in 3-4 years when hopefully we will be up the top end of the ladder challenging.
  8. It's great to see him hitting the scoreboard and contributing to the team so early in his career, but he's an inside midfielder. He's only playing up forward due to lack of fitness and to get him into the speed of the game. He'll build up strength and fitness and move into the midfield full time. We still need to find a competent small forward for when Garlett is gone or not in form. Kent might be that player, I don't think JKH is. I'm really excited by him. Got dropped, went back to the VFL and racked up 40 touches in the midfield. He's going to be a key player in our midfield for the next 10 years. It's a bonus he can take a strong grab and hit the scoreboard!
  9. All that article tells me is that there is enough momentum that they'd had to publicly acknowledge the interest and try to fan the flames. I wouldn't count us out yet.
  10. The system was changed for father son and academy picks. Have a read of this. http://www.afl.com.au/news/2015-05-21/new-bidding-system-introduced-for-fatherson-and-northern-academy-players Basically there won't be any freebies anymore. The Swans and other academy teams are going to have to come up with higher value picks to get their players. It could help us as they need high draft picks to get these elite kids in, so we could use our high pick to extract a good player from them.
  11. Good to hear he is on track. Hopefully he can get fit and become something close to what we hoped years ago. His first two years were outstanding and if he returns to his top form he is well within our best 22 running through the midfield and resting up forward with his strong overhead marking.
  12. Prestia would be the best fit for us. One of the elite young midfield talents in the competition. To bring in a 22 year old who would immediately become our best midfielder and ball winner alongside Nathan Jones would be a huge plus. We'd have to give up a first round pick to get him. He was a pick 9 in 2010 who has proven to be worth that and more, with only Heppell from the top end of that draft being as good or better. We should go hard for him if there's even a tiny chance of getting him. As for Motlop, doubt he'll come to us. We'd have to give up a first round pick and I feel our pick 4+5 is too high. Second round pick and a player wouldn't cut it. We'd need to get another first round pick via a trade to get him and I don't think it's worth it. We should trade Howe for a first or second round pick IMO. He's inconsistent, doesn't have impact on games despite his physical attributes, therefore he's of limited value to us. We need to build a midfield for the future. Games are won and lost in the midfield and unfortunately ours is still bottom 4. Bringing in Petracca and Prestia if possibly immediately improves it in both the short term and long term. We need quality young mids!
  13. Here's Prestia's stats compared to Nathan Jones the pas 2-3 seasons. They are pretty much on par. And Prestia was 20 at the time those stats were taken. Before his injury this year he had surprassed Jones statistically even though he's only 22. Kid is a certified gun midfielder.
  14. Fixed that for you. If he wants to leave and nominates us as his preferred club, then the trade will get done. Easy trade, we give them our first pick. If they play hard ball we throw in Howe and take their second round pick or something along those lines. Prestia is a certified gun and IMO would be our best player within 12 months. He's already on par with Nathan Jones the last 2 seasons!
  15. I think we'd fit them in fine. It would free up guys like Vince and Tyson to do a bit more damage on the outside as both can kick long goals. It would make us less reliant on Jones and Vince to do all the work and shift the tag around a bit also. Prestia is serious quality and if there is even the slightest chance we can get him we should throw everything at him. Anyone who leads the league in clearances and averages 27 touches a game and 5-6 tackles a game would be huge for our midfield.
  16. Hopefully these Dion Prestia rumors come to fruition. Yes we have a decent number of in and under mids, but he would walk into our club and just about be our best player. Statistically his last 2 seasons have been pretty much on par with Nathan Jones. Second only to Ablett in their best and fairest. He'd be a great pick up by the club and definitely help our future midfield prospects. Well worth our first pick and a decent amount of coin!
  17. Absolutely stunned by the win today. I had to work and turned the AFL app on during the 3rd quarter. What I saw was the boys showing a heap of fight that didn't let up. Our old heads like Dunn, Jones, Vince, Lumumba etc were finally all standing up together. The youngsters like Viney, Brayshaw, Stretch were all giving it their all. Seeing Brayshaw smashing into anything wearing navy and white that moved was a deelight. Seeing Viney just work Selwood over and win clearances was a deelight. Seeing Bernie racking up ball and set up/score goals was a deelight. I never thought we had a hope of winning down there today. Years of conditioning will do that to you. I'm so happy and proud of the win. This is definitely one the team can reflect on and build into something great. GO YOU MIGHT DEES!!!
  18. He's obviously doing some good work behind the scenes for us. It's great to see us developing players better now. Hopefully McCartney can get the youngsters to fulfil their talent unlike the last 7-8 years!
  19. 6. Vince 5. Toumpas 4. Hogan 3. Watts 2. Cross 1. Viney No votes for Jones today. Poor leadership again and he is really not having a great year. His numbers might look ok, but he is playing selfish football. He's not going in for the hard ball as much and is calling for cheap handball receives. Really hoping he starts breaking these tags and having more of an impact on games as we are missing him firing recently. Would also be great to get guys like Tyson and Dunn firing again!
  20. He's had a solid month of footy now. He's showed this kind of form before, his game in his first year against Geelong in the wet was an eye opener. Hopefully he can continue to show form like he did today and prove all the critics wrong. Good onya Dimitri!
  21. Hello bottom 4 Those are the games we need to win. We have not improved this year. We are still bottom 4. What a horrible effort that last quarter was. How can you not defend and lock the ball up for 40 seconds? 40 f*cking seconds!?!
  22. So f*cking disappointing. It's unbelievable a team can lose like that. How long until this crap changes!?!
  23. To the people saying drop Toumpas, yes he made a few poor decisions, but overall he actually had a decent game. He had 21 disposals, 8 contested, 80% efficiency, 5 score involvements, 4 clearances, 3 rebound 50s and 4 tackles. They're decent stats, and he was far from our worst today. We need to let him gain more confidence and build on these games. He's already showing a bit this year. Dropping him would be yet another poor selection decision. I'm sick of him being a scape goat on this site.
  24. Looks like this never happened. Maybe he got scared off after the belting on the weekend
  25. Would be an amazing pick up for our midfield, but would cost a lot. Gold Coast would want at least a first round pick plus a player. He's young and already producing. He'll take over from Ablett as their captain too if he stays. Superb footballer. He'd cost us a lot to trade for but if he is able to be swayed then he'd be worth paying overs for.
