This will be a loss this weekend, especially without Viney in the centre. Hopefully it's not a blow out. We need Clarry back to give us grunt and defensive pressure at the stoppages. He is already very important to us!
-
Hopefully he only gets a week, but the fact here were 3 punches doesn't make it look good. He might get 2-3 weeks if we're unlucky. We're no hope against the Hawks, especially without him there and firing. Hopefully he is back for the the game vs the Pies.

We have to give up a first rounder or a quality player. Being that we don't want to get rid of our talented youth, a first rounder it is. Prestia is obviously worth that. He's a top 10 pick who has more than proven himself being a league leading clearance player and would've won a bnf if he wasn't playing behind Gary Ablett, who was in hall of fame brownlow winning form at the time. He'd be a great get. You can never have too many quality midfielders as yesterday's game showed. Midfielders win premierships. We also need a key defender such as Hurley though...

I think he reads it ok, he's just not strong enough yet so he gets out bodied at the start of a contest and then can't get back into it. With time and strength he can fix that part of his game. The concerning thing that is hard to teach is his lack of intensity. He's like Cale Morton out there and just seems scared a lot of the time.

As we all said last week, he simply isn't ready for AFL level yet. He might be a good player for us long term, but short term he isn't ready. If we played Dunn today it would've been more of a contest. First and foremost though, the midfield needs to show up!

Will be missed around the ball this week. He's already very important to us around stoppages so hopefully he is back in next week.

MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 10
Lord Travis replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Thought we would have brought in more fresh legs after what happened a few weeks ago when we didn't. Both the ins are very solid though. Jetta especially is a welcome inclusion down back. -
Great news. He has been an insanely good pickup. Traded a late nothing pick and got a bonfire live wire goal sneak who we'll get 5-6 years out of.
-
I've said it before on here. When Jones gets into a scrap, we win. It fires the boys up and instills belief for them they can win. He did it a few times last year too, most memorably against Collingwood where he picked a fight with Pendles, and we won. Hopefully the club helps him with the fines as it means we won!

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BILLY STRETCH
Lord Travis replied to e25's topic in Melbourne Demons
I posted in here when we drafted him saying he had the talent to become our Isaac Smith/Brad Hill type. We don't have many players with speed and skill so he is very valuable to us. He's definitely getting there already if he can keep up this form, but the most impressive thing is how far his inside game has come. When we drafted him he was purely a runner and didn't really fetch his own ball, similar to Toumpas at underage level. His inside work has come a long way and he is now very clean in the packs and isn't afraid to throw his body into hard tackles. It's very impressive to see a smaller guy so hungry and clearly working hard to improve all parts of his game. He could be a beauty for us. Keep it up Billy! -
Feel for him. May explain why has he seemed a bit flat if his body was having issues like that internally. My understanding is it controls your metabolism and hormones and can greatly effect your energy levels and heart rate. Hopefully he can take an extended break to recover from it as his health is the most important thing.

Congratulations to Petracca! He's going brilliantly so far for only 4 games in. Consistently winning ball and being involved in lots of scoring chains. He could develop into something seriously special. Great to see him gaining confidence in his body too. He had a few rough landings after marks on the weekend that would've tested his knee and he held up and fine.
-
You'd be forgiven. He was sub in most of those games so realistically he probably only played about 5 full games!

AFL need to look into Rhys Mathieson!
Lord Travis replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Here's this weeks edition of 'weak ducking cheat'. These players need to be shamed as they go against the spirit of the game. I'm glad we don't have any players that resort to this kind of rubbish. Hopefully someone knocks his head off or at very least rips a chunk of that wig off. https://www.facebook.com/Timmuns/videos/10154179287164110/ -
Yeah he had time to kick more yesterday. His kicking is very good. He weights his field kicks well and is usually good going for goal even though he missed one yesterday.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHRISTIAN PETRACCA
Lord Travis replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Love that Petracca was laying hard tackles today also. He needs to build the defensive side of his game to become a well-rounded player and he's already showing signs he has worked on it the last few weeks. Love how he gets around tacklers too. If he starts nailing those shots at goal he is going to be very dangerous! -
We can't afford to carry players if we're contending for finals. In a close game he would cost us the match. I've never seen a player fumble more in 25 years. I think he has good attributes and will be solid long term, but he's not ready yet and we can't carry players anymore. Dunn or Frost takes his spot as they're both ready to go. He got outmarked by Keays 2-3 times when one on one. He is 11cms taller and 13kgs heavier yet got out-bodied. If Dunn is there, that won't happen. Simple as that.

He's up there behind Toby McLean and Lachie Hunter as a knee dropping cheat. What a weak peice of sh*t he is. Hope he gets his head ripped off. SOFT. -
He's not ready. Simple as that. I think he'll be decent long term, but right now he should be in the VFL. He fumbles under no pressure, gets out bodies by guys 10cms shorter and lighter than him and just lacks intensity. Dunn should play ahead of him every day of the week. Send him back to the VFL to gain confidence and skill and build his body up. We are finally in a position where we don't need to play kids like him until they are ready.

Good news he has extended. He is best mates with Hogan and will hopefully get us closer to Jesse extending too. Its great to see the club holding on to all this young talent. Viney, Oliver, Hunt and Harmes. Bodes well for the core we are building.

Clayton Oliver signs new 2 year deal.

Great news. He's already my favorite player! Great to see the club locking in all this young talent. We're on the up! -
Holding the ball / prior opportunity / incorrect disposal
Lord Travis replied to Bluey's Dad's topic in Melbourne Demons
I couldn't be bothered reading the last page, but earlier in the thread we were talking about the Bulldogs players being coached to drop their leg/shoulder to get free kicks for high tackles. Someone compiled this video of Toby Mclean in 2016 and it's damning. What a disgraceful footballer. He has been paid 18 free kicks in 2016, mostly for high tackles, and has 0 against. It's completely rubbish. I hope someone knocks his head off. Lachine Hunter can go with him the soft little cheating c*nt. -
Holding the ball / prior opportunity / incorrect disposal
Lord Travis replied to Bluey's Dad's topic in Melbourne Demons
I don't know it for certain, but either they are coached to do it or the whole team plays with bung knees. Hawthorn also use it to milk free kicks around contests. -
Because Isaac Weetra could've kicked 5 in the same position. He did zero work for the goals and could've been replaced by anyone and the outcome wouldn't have changed. The scoreboard flattered us, this was a 10 goal loss. It came down to the midfield, as it always does.
