  1. I would like to see a top young player get the famous number 31 jumper (worn by the great Ronald Dale Barassi) for the Demons. But numbers 9 and 5 should also be highly prized. Nevertheless, there is nothing wrong with players making a NEW number (such as Liam Jurrah in 48) "famous" in their own right.
  2. In all honesty I really don't see Aaron Davey leaving the Demons. Its more likely for his brother Alwyn Davey to come to the Demons.
  3. I know about Butcher. But could we have some information about these other players? Having picks 1, 2, 11 and 18 (all in the top 20!) is a fantastic coup for the Melbourne Demons. Hawthorn had a similar scenario back in the 2004 Draft didn't they?
  4. I'm really going to miss Brock McLean. He gave his heart and soul to the Demons. And even gave us a large amount of his own money for the Debt Demolition. He was one of my favourite players....and I really thought he was going to be a future captain at the MFC. Anyways, I realise that in the long-run this decision will be the best one for both Brock McLean and the MFC. I wish Brock all the best for the future with Carlton (just not against the Demons). We'll miss you Chooka!
  5. Anybody know the final amount raised for Debt Demolition yet? Or are we still all waiting?
  6. Would Barry Prendergast honestly take our opinions seriously? I would love to be a recruiting officer for the Demons......but I don't think its that easy!
  7. I'm quite pleasantly surprised by the comments from Melbourne Mayor Robert Doyle (he is a Cats supporter I think?). If the Demons can have a PERMANENT training ground (during the Winter) that we can use at the Docklands which is the SAME size as the MCG then that would be fantastic! Here is the link to the article: http://melbourne-leader.whereilive.com.au/...docklands-home/ Personally I would just call the local community team the Dockland Demons to continue the Melbourne connection. No point calling them the Dragons!
  8. Now I know we all need another tall forward to help out Jack Watts...and we have mentioned the name John Butcher a lot. However, we need to build a strong mid-field around our team as well. Do you think the Demons should take another talented midfielder like Jack Trengove from South Australia to help out Tom Scully? That way we will have dominant midfield that will continually win the ball out of the centre for us. Or perhaps we will pick Jack Trengove INSTEAD of Tom Scully? Anyways, here is a very interesting link about all the upcoming Under 18 football talent that will be on display in about a week's time: http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/sport/afl/story/0,26576,25694935-19742,00.html ://http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/sp...-19742,00.html ://http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/sp...-19742,00.html ://http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/sp...-19742,00.html ://http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/sp...-19742,00.html Whatever young talent the Demons take in this year's National Draft we need to start getting some STAR players (when I mean STARS I'm talking about Gary Ablett Jnr, Chris Judd, Jonathan Brown etc). We also need to build a champion team (not a team of champions) that will hopefully be able to help us to win a Premiership in the future.
  9. I would prefer we create a new Demons logo. No idea what it should look like though....
  10. No we don't unfortunately. David Neitz is the only player so far. And he deserved to! Adem Yze could of.....but didn't. Hopefully Brad Green or somebody else can get to 300 games? I don't think James McDonald and Russell Robertson will make it to 300....but you never know.
  11. It was not just the mental issues facing the Demons yesterday. Collingwood "came to play" but Melbourne didn't. We just weren't switched on like Collingwood was...particularly in the first quarter. Perhaps Melbourne was too caught up in the occassion of the Queen's Birthday game and the number #1 Draft pick in Jack Watts having his debut? I really hope not...but I think it may have been a factor. I realise the 90% of football is attitude (up in the mind) and the other 10% is natural ability. But there is an issue of ability that I think we need to address... Personally, from seeing the game I think the worst part of it was our poor skills and poor decision making. We need to seriously improve in these areas. And if players continue to make these pathetic mistakes then they should be cut from the team and players who have better skills and decision making ability need to be included. Hopefully we can slowly get rid of the players who are not up to it in these areas of poor skills and poor decision making and replace them with players who actually DO have these skills. But of course, it is all easier said than done.
  12. I say, give him a go in the mid-field. His disposal and decision making skills were a lot better than most yesterday.
  13. Very disappointed to hear that Kevin Sheedy behaved that way for a coaching job interview?! I would've thought he WANTED another chance to coach a new team after nearly 30 years at Essendon. But I've always suspected that Kevin Sheedy has had a hatred for Melbourne. <_< While I won't say that Dean Bailey is no good. We do need to see more improvement and that means WINNING! I won't expect too much from this year...but next year we need to see a serious amount of improvement in the team's performances. Dean Bailey has been saying all the right things and doing well off-field but it is ON-field with the team's performances that counts. Our "competitiveness" has been slowly getting better these past few weeks. But yesterday against the SCUM (Collingwood) we certainly took about 2 steps back and both the coaching staff and the players need to take responsibility for this.
  14. LOL! I don't think I do anything! Although I WILL be at the footy tomorrow! I can't wait to see how Jack Watts goes in his debut AFL game! GO YOU DEMONS, LETS SMASH THE FILTHY PIES!!!
  15. I agree ol' "cuddles" (Chris Connolly) is doing an AWESOME job for the MFC! I love it when he gets interviewed by the media and basically makes them look like a bunch of fools when he twists their questions back onto them! :D
  16. Well I'm glad it has all been sorted out and the Demons have signed their 30 year deal with the Casey Council! Here is the link on the MFC website that confirms the deal: http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/newsart...00/default.aspx Is it just me or is Jimmy Stynes and Co. doing an absolutely FANTASTIC job so far? Let's hope they keep up the good work!
  17. I think its a GOOD thing. It has raised alot more interest in the game. I know quite a few neutral supporters that are going to possibly go to the game now just to see Jack Watts play his debut match at the MCG. As the late, great Big Kev used to say...... I'M EXCITED!!! :D
  18. I whole heartedly agree! The Bulldogs can cry me a river! What a bunch of hypocrites indeed! They shouldn't be complaining at all seeing as they got a fantastic sponsorship deal from Mission Foods and the Melbourne Demons were sponsorless during the Pre-Season competition! Luckily. we got Hankook and Kaspersky before the proper AFL season started. It's about time the Melbourne Demons started to make other clubs angry. Most of time we barely raise an eyebrow. I'd rather have other AFL supporters be angry at our club than merely laughing at us. The more (positive) news about the Melbourne Demons in the newspapers the better. Keep up the good work Jimmy and Co!!!
  19. I also got the SMS from Jim Stynes. Cheers for that Jimmy. I'm very excited about the possibility of going to the match now! :D We may even get over 80,000 to the game now at the MCG. It will be absolutely AWESOME to see Jack Watts in his first AFL match for the Demons!
  20. I have no idea. Still waiting to hear something.....???
  21. G'day Fellow Demons Supporters! Just wondering if anybody knows when the Melbourne Football Club and the Casey Council will sort out that 30 year deal down at Casey Fields? Hopefully, it will get done before the end of the season. There is a HUGE opportunity there to gain a lot of grass-roots support for the Melbourne Demons. I know that they are having the Casey Demons Support Group breakfast on during the 8th of July so maybe the 30 year deal will be announced then?
  22. This really is making a mountain out of a mole-hill in my opinion. However, I do hope that Jim Stynes and Michael Coglin arrange a meeting and sort out this misunderstanding.
  23. G'day fellow Demons Supporters, I realise it doesn't exactly say on the MFC website "officially" yet (in the membership tally on the right hand side of the website)...but apparently we have now got over 30,000 members! That is absolutely fantastic news! Although, I did find this positive article about reaching 30,000 members on the MFC website here: http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/newsart...13/default.aspx Let's hope our membership numbers continue to grow and we get to 40,000 in the next few years! :D I just wish I could sign my two younger brothers up!
  24. That sounds like an awesome idea! Just get a few of the former coaches along to tell a few stories and turn it into a MFC fundraiser! I'm sure that John Northey and Co would have quite a few interesting stories to tell. I suggest Emailing this idea and any others to the MFC here: [email protected]
  25. Fantastic initiative by Dean Bailey and those involved with the MFC. Quite a number of Melbourne players have died in both WW1 and WW2 (such as Ron Barassi Senior and "Bluey" Truscott) so it makes a lot of sense for Melbourne players to go to the shrine of rememberence and pay their respects to those Melbourne players that lost their lives in those wars along with all those many others who also did so. It's just a shame that Essendon Vs Collingwood match seem to "own" ANZAC Day and the AFL can't have a match between say Melbourne Vs Sydney (or whoever?) or something like that in the evening, which they did a few years ago.
