  1. No comments? Didn't think my suggestion of 1980s logo flags was that horrible?! 🤔 Either way, I would love to see the Demon Army grow in numbers and have more flags being waved at games.
  2. Absolutely fantastic! We are almost at 60,000! Great news! Let's get to 65,000 members! GO DEMONS!!!
  3. Congratulations on 200 games Tommy "Macca" McDonald! Fingers crossed he gets the nod to play this week against St. Kilda? "Macca" has definitely done it the "hard way" to reach 200 games. As he said himself, we were a "rabble" and we were able to turn it around. We are now reigning Premiers! I want to say a massive THANK YOU to "Macca" for his hard work and loyalty as a Demon. Hopefully he gets to play 250+ games for us by the time he retires!

Yeah, I saw that too. I think we are better off funding it ourselves. We are probably going to need $500 million for a training and home base though..that's going to take a while to save up.... 😔
  5. Firstly, this is merely a suggestion and by no means do I wish to annoy the Demon Army who do an amazing job and who volunteer huge amounts of time and effort to support the Melbourne Demons. I have a lot of admiration and respect for them. Especially as it would be a lot of hard work preparing banners and all the other things they do to support the club. As for my suggestion, I am sure a fair few of us do, being fans of Australian Rules Football in general, often watch other AFL games on TV besides our beloved Melbourne Demons. However, has anyone else noticed that quite a few of the other AFL cheersquads have large flags with the oldschool 1980s logos on them? I have definitely seen the Western Bulldogs, Essendon and Collingwood cheersquads with flags using their 1980s logos. I think they look brilliant! I am a big fan of the Melbourne Demons 1980s logo, as shown here: My question is, where did the other AFL cheersquads get their 1980s logo flags made and would it be worthwhile seeing if people are interested possibly getting them made for the Melbourne Demons cheersquad perhaps? People could possibly chip in a little bit of cash to help pay for one or two of them to be made maybe? However, that's only if the Demon Army are interested in this suggestion though? They may already have plenty of flags for the time being as I am not part of the cheersquad and don't know if they want more flags or have enough people to wave them? Anyway, I am just putting the idea out there as I would hope that with our recent Premiership success more people would like to be part of the Melbourne Demons cheersquad and have flags to wave? Especially younger supporters? Plus I think it would be great to see the Melbourne Demons 1980s logo being waved on large flags like other AFL cheersquads are doing.

I was there at the MCG on Saturday evening against the Hawks. The crowd figure was definitely 39k something. We should still be tracking well to get close to 60k MFC members signed up soon.

I also heard about this news. A $1 billion dollar upgrade of the MCG. Here is the link: https://www.triplem.com.au/story/a-1-billion-upgrade-of-the-mcg-is-on-the-table-194831 I don't know how just a 5 star hotel and an upgrade to the newly named Shane Warne Stand with an increase in the amount of seating at the MCG will cost $1 billion dollars?! Are we putting a roof on the MCG too?! Anyway, I understand that the money will belong to the MCC but you would think some of that could go towards the MFC too? We are supposed to be realigned with them afterall? In the end, I am just hopeful we can eventually get a training and administration home base built that we don't need to share with anyone else at Gosch's Paddock. If that means that we as Melbourne supporters have to chip in and pay for it ourselves then so be it. Particularly as it looks like nobody else will!
  8. Last game was the horrible GWS match in 2021 at the MCG where we should of selected Ben Brown to play but we didn't. I have seen Melbourne lose far too much over the years. It is never a fun feeling on the long train ride home. As strange as it is...we need to get used to winning now! After 57 years of pain (as Max Gawn said) we deserve a bit of joy and happiness. Long may this new successful era of the Melbourne Football Club continue!
  9. If we keep winning we should reach 60,000 soon. Fingers crossed we can reach 65,000! 🤞 I think it will take another Premiership in the near future to break the barrier of 70,000+ MFC members. In the end, we need to focus on sustained success for the next 10, 20 and even 30 years. If we can do that then our future will be very bright indeed.
  10. I always had the impression that Nathan Buckley was a fanatical Collingwood supporter and that is why he left the Brisbane Bears and went to Collingwood? Either way, I think Nathan Buckley will definitely get another senior coaching gig at an AFL Club. Whether it is at Port Adelaide, Gold Coast, GWS or even North Melbourne we shall have to wait and see. 🤔
  11. What?! More players with COVID-19 already? Far out....remember everyone! Don't panic!!! 🙃
  12. Adem Yze has been absolutely fantastic since coming back to the Melbourne Demons. He is most certainly appreciated! I hope that we can keep Adem as an assistant coach at the Melbourne Football Club as long as possible. However, I am pragmatic that he will eventually want a senior coaching role at an AFL club very soon. Let's hope that when he does take on a senior coaching role it is not until after the completion of a Melbourne Demons finals campaign .
  13. I try to forget 2012. We were awful that year...although 2013 was worse. I remember when we had all these high hopes for Mark Neeld as the new Melbourne Demons coach. Lol! 😅🤣😆
  14. I should also mention that I wish Simon Goodwin a speedy recovery! Having COVID-19 is very frustrating. I had it myself a few weeks ago and then my Parents got it as well. They have both now recuperated but it definitely took longer than expected. I still want to give Simon Goodwin a hug for helping end our 57 year Premiership drought but I will probably have to wait quite a while to be able to ever do that! 😂
  15. Hmmm....very annoying. It goes to show that it is extremely contagious. He must have gotten it from either Jake Lever or Jack Viney perhaps? Nevertheless, we all need to expect to have COVID-19 at least once. Anyway, here is an article about it: https://www.espn.com.au/afl/story/_/id/33812040/melbourne-demons-coach-simon-goodwin-covid-19-miss-round-7 Good luck to Adem Yze taking on the reigns as Melbourne Demons coach!
  16. A win is a win....🤷🏼‍♂️ After going through many years of embarrassment and ineptitude I will take winning ugly over losing pretty every time. The Demons definitely need to look at getting a specialist goal kicking coach though. Kicking 22 behinds was awful! We don't want to be inaccurate like that again. It was incredibly frustrating! Lastly, I have to say that Clayton Oliver is one of the greatest Melbourne Demons players I have ever seen in my lifetime. He is an absolute bull who is unbelievably tough and competitive and is still only 24 years old! What a gun!
  17. Definitely a welcome selection "headache" with who to choose amongst Sam Weideman, Ben Brown and Tom McDonald. I would think choosing Ben Brown and Tom McDonald is a no brainer as a more potent forward line. I am still unconvinced by Sam Weideman. But I am willing to give him a few more chances nevertheless. He just has to impact games and show more consistency! Losing Jack Viney and Jake Lever are unforeseen blows due to COVID-19. But hopefully Luke Dunstan and Adam Tomlinson (or Joel Smith) can cover them. Will certainly be curious to see how Luke Dunstan performs for the Demons. His disposal and decision-making has been poor from memory of his time at the Saints. Let's hope Mark "Choco" Williams' precision kicking magic has rubbed off on him!
  18. Nothing wrong with looking at various ideas. The problem is Eddie just wants attention as usual. 🙄 It's all about him and his ego and not what is overall good for Australian Rules Football. My recommendation is just make umpiring a full-time profession and pay them more. Have a proper school for umpires and recruit from former players. In the end the AFL needs to invest in umpiring to eventually increase the quality of decision-making by umpires.

Very disappointing news about Blake Howes' injury. He is only in his first year though. So luckily he has time on his side. Hopefully, he can still bulk up muscle in his arms and upper body while allowing his stress fracture in his foot to heal? However, I am sure Selwyn Griffith will sort out a plan for Blake Howes. I wish the young fella all the best and a speedy recovery.

Thank you for the kind words. My Dad is slowly recuperating. 😎👍
  21. I asked that too. I guess we will have to wait until we get an injury update from the club. Either way, let's hope it is nothing serious and Blake Howes will be back next week.

I was there last night by my lonesome. Unfortunately, my Dad has COVID-19 but he is recuperating. Otherwise, he would of been there. The Easter long weekend definitely was a factor too. My Dad is getting on in years and has openly stated he does prefer games on a Saturday afternoon or a Sunday afternoon. He thought the Wednesday night Round 1 season opener game which was the Grand Final rematch against the Western Bulldogs was a stupid idea and would of been better on a Friday night or just a Saturday afternoon or Saturday night game. He believes we would of had a larger crowd if we had done that. I think he is used to all the Sunday afternoon games when Melbourne were hopeless and lucky to win 4 games a year. I think the issue is we need to also be mindful and respectful of older supporters (who had to wait every one of those 57 years to end our Premiership drought) and don't like games on week nights or at night in general. It also makes it difficult for some families that wish to bring children. All I will say is that it is definitely a difficult balancing act with the fixture as there will always be someone unhappy. We also still have be mindful that we have a small (but now slowly growing!) supporter base. Not winning a Premiership since 1964 does that. We need to be patient and hopeful we can have sustained long-term success over the next 20 to 30 years to be up there with the bigger clubs like Collingwood, Essendon, Richmond, Carlton and Hawthorn. Nevertheless, I have strong faith in the Melbourne Football Club CEO Gary Pert as his experience at Collingwood has been invaluable.
  23. Not against this idea. I just think each state should have their own independent football league to grow and develop grassroots football.
  24. What's happened to Blake Howes? Is he injured?
  25. Interesting comments. It just goes to show that if you are a team like Carlton, Hawthorn, Richmond or Essendon and you achieve regular Premiership success for over 20 or 30 years that you will definitely grow your membership and supporter base massively. I will give you a few examples. Firstly from 1939 until 1964, Melbourne won 10 Premierships in 25 years. Which is a pretty amazing strike rate! I am quite confident we had a very large following during that time. Secondly, from 1968 until 1995, Carlton won 8 Premierships in 27 years. Thirdly, from 1961 until 1991, Hawthorn won 9 Premierships in 30 years. Or more significantly from 1971 until 1991, Hawthorn won 8 Premierships in 20 years. Fourthly, from 1967 until 1980, Richmond won 5 Premierships in 13 years. Lastly from 1984 until 2000, Essendon won 4 Premierships in 16 years. A Premiership drought of 57 years has definitely hindered us. That's stating the obvious. But if we can hopefully build sustained success from 2021 onward for the next 30 years we will definitely have a bright future. The most important thing is making sure we keep good people at our club and continue to recruit good people and good players as well. We are very fortunate with those we currently have at the Melbourne Football Club, but we need to be constantly seeking to improve and get better. I am optimistic we are on the right track.
