  1. That sounds like an awesome idea! Just get a few of the former coaches along to tell a few stories and turn it into a MFC fundraiser! I'm sure that John Northey and Co would have quite a few interesting stories to tell. I suggest Emailing this idea and any others to the MFC here: [email protected]
  2. Fantastic initiative by Dean Bailey and those involved with the MFC. Quite a number of Melbourne players have died in both WW1 and WW2 (such as Ron Barassi Senior and "Bluey" Truscott) so it makes a lot of sense for Melbourne players to go to the shrine of rememberence and pay their respects to those Melbourne players that lost their lives in those wars along with all those many others who also did so. It's just a shame that Essendon Vs Collingwood match seem to "own" ANZAC Day and the AFL can't have a match between say Melbourne Vs Sydney (or whoever?) or something like that in the evening, which they did a few years ago.
  3. I also hope we get up to 30,000+ members! For those who know any people out there that barrack for Melbourne but are not yet a member I encourage them to go and do what Hamish Blake says and "Dob in a Demon" and go to this link: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=Hes3...20take%20survey
  4. I agree with your line up Yze_Magic. I think Maric needs to be given a chance. Although hopefully Robertson will be back in the next week or two as well.
  5. I will give Dean Bailey the benefit of the doubt. I realise it will take a very long time to improve....I just get frustrated and angry after a big loss (as I'm sure we all do!). I just would like the Demons to remain "competitive" throughout the entire game and at least WIN a few matches during the year!
  6. Well all I can say is that we better have some more improvement and the MFC better get some wins on the board otherwise Dean Bailey will be lucky to last his full contract. Does anybody know what Dean Bailey's game plan is yet....???
  7. I'm hoping we beat either Richmond or Adelaide or even both in the upcoming games at the MCG. As much as we need to rebuild and get draft picks...I wanna see a few wins this year too!
  8. Hmmm...the Cranbourne Junior Football Club needs new jumpers eh? Seeing as the Melbourne Demons are setting up grassroots support in the Casey area then this would be a FANTASTIC idea! Here is the link for those who wish to Email the club: Ideas and suggestions - [email protected]
  9. I'm glad to hear this fantastically good news! The MFC and the MCC have been linked for a lot longer than they have been apart and it was about time they re-joined forces. It will put the MFC in a stronger position in the long run. In my opinion, that is another box ticked off in a long list of things that needed to be done to get the Melbourne Football Club in better shape. Congratulations Jim Stynes and Cameron Schwab. Keep up the good work! All we need to do now is sort out our 30 year partnership with the City of Casey down at Casey Fields and then once the club is financially stable then we can start concentrating our efforts on winning AFL Premierships! :D
  10. I remember reading about this and saying this is very much why we NEED a tall marking forward! Brad Miller does provide a "contest" but his kicking is terrible. As for Michael Newton...well he can't even seem to play a decent game in the VFL for the Casey Scorpions at the moment. What other options do we have? Bring back David Neitz? However, we do have Jack Watts...but it will be quite a wait before we see him in action. Personally I think we need to follow Hawthorn's long-term model. They took both Franklin and Roughhead in the AFL National Draft a few seasons ago and it is now paying dividends. Hawthorn now have a powerful forward line with 2 tall strong marking forwards who are hard for opposition defenders to match up on. That is why at the end of this year we should be looking at taking another tall strong-marking forward in John Butcher from the Gippsland power. It's all about short term pain for long term gain (a Premiership) in my opinion.
  11. Yeah I really enjoyed reading that article too. Let's hope that Paul Johnson has a good year for the Demons.
  12. Just wondering who the second major sponsor shall be for the Melbourne Football Club and when it will be announced? Anybody have a clue on who it may be and when?
  13. Dammit! You beat me to it with this post. Anyways, I reckon that there would be ALOT of people at the MFC angry at Colin at the moment. He needs to "pull his finger out" if he wants to seriously play AFL football.
  14. G'day all, After the good news with getting Hankook as one of our major sponsor's today it seems that it has been ruined by the news that Colin Sylvia has broken team rules. Here's the link to the story: LEADERSHIP GROUP SUSPENDS COLIN SYLVIA Colin Sylvia was having such a good pre-season too! What was he thinking?!
  15. At least this gives me a good reason (for a change) to actually watch the Footy Show tonight. While I am very, very happy that the Demons now have this new (co-) major sponsor in Hankook tyres I won't be totally satisfied until we have our 2nd major sponsor signed up before Round 1. I wonder who the 2nd major sponsor could possibly be.....???
  16. Currently we have 21,986. C'mon lets get over 30,000!
  17. G'day fellow Demons Supporters! I sent an Email to the MFC a week or so ago and got a reply the other day. In my Email I suggested a few ideas for sponsors etc and also getting in contact with the actor Matt Damon who the MFC gave a jumper to a few years ago. The main point I'm making is that the MFC does genuinely take into account any ideas and suggestions that you have. So if anybody here has any great ideas then I suggest sending an Email to the club here: [email protected] We can all make a difference to help the MFC no matter how small. GO DEMONS IN 2009!
  18. Yeah, I really like the idea of having MFC est 1858 on the back of the jumper. Maybe something about being the oldest and proudest club in Australia?
  19. How about Virgin and Club-X? :D But seriously, I'm hoping Virgin, Telstra, Holden, ANZ or Crown Casino.
  20. Yeah Dunn is now a tagger and a part-time forward. In fact, I hope that he spends a bit more time up forward this season (when he's not tagging) and kicks a few goals. About 30+ goals would be a happy return from him.
  21. Well if the AFL helped the Tigers get LuxBet then WHY cannot the AFL help the Demons get BetFair or some other Major Sponsor? Nevertheless, I hope that the Demons are getting close to now signing up a brand new Major Sponsor. I was a bit worried that they never had a Major Sponsor for the NAB Cup but giving away our sponsor "space" to the Red Cross Bushfire Appeal was a fantastic idea. However, once the real AFL Season starts we will definitely need to have our Major Sponsor on board with us. If anybody has any suggestions of who could be possible Major Sponsors for the Melbourne Football Club I think we should Email our ideas to the Club. What about Melbourne's Crown Casino? I notice that the Sydney Swans now have Star City as their sponsor on their shorts? Or how about the ANZ Bank? Or even Telstra? I know that somebody half-jokingly mentioned them? Maybe even Virgin seeing as Richard Branson is currently setting up a Gym Franchise in Australia? There are heaps of companies out there that I'm sure would be keen to sponsor ANY Club in the AFL.
  22. Here is another quite positive article that I found in 'The Age' about how the Melbourne Football Club will help the Kinglake Football Club after the devastation of the bushfires. This is the link: http://www.realfooty.com.au/news/news/demo...4633066863.html I'm sure the donations by the Demons will be greatly appreciated by those involved at the Kinglake Football Club.
  23. Just found quite an interesting article in 'The Age' for those who wanna have a read. Here's the link: http://www.realfooty.com.au/news/news/mave...4633066866.html
