Great to see the Melbourne Demons President Kate Roffey barracking hard with the Demon Army! Fantastic stuff! I also loved seeing the old school 1980s Demons logo signs in the Demon Army!
-
I was quietly confident that Angus Brayshaw would re-sign for the Melbourne Demons. He definitely loves the Melbourne Football Club. The interview with Garry Lyon last year in the player rooms after the Premiership win when he proudly said "Our Club" was incredibly significant. This just goes to show how vital it is to have a positive culture and to win games regularly. A Premiership has definitely invigorated not only the entire club but the players. I genuinely wish Angus Brayshaw the very best and hopes that he has further Premiership success as a long-term Demons player and also ends up playing 300+ games for the Club.

Fingers crossed that Angus Brayshaw does indeed re-sign with the Melbourne Football Club. He is vital to our culture and the overall leadership of the team. Angus is a pretty talented and inspirational player too!

I am still hopeful Luke Jackson will sign a 2 or 3 year contract to win another Premiership with the Demons. Why leave when you have the chance to win another Premiership or more? I under home sickness is a factor but what about loyalty to your team mates? However, the longer this drags on the less likely this will happen and he will return to Perth. If we are to lose Luke Jackson to either West Coast or Fremantle we need to be fairly compensated. This means either a good quality player and a first round draft pick or 2 first round draft picks. Remember, it cost us 2 first round draft picks to Adelaide to get Jake Lever so I see that as being the ideal trade deal for us to ask for from either Fremantle or West Coast.

Exactly! Stage 1 now complete. Time for Stage 2! We now need our home base built with administrative and training facilities. Ideally a social club too. Paint the buildings red and (dark) blue and put up a statue of David Neitz out the front of it. I certainly won't be satisfied until our home base is finally built for the Melbourne Football Club.
-
Would love for Sam Weideman to seek out some help with his aggression and marking. I am sure there are people out there he could ask? Whether it is our own David Neitz, David Schwarz or Garry Lyon. Otherwise, he could even try Jonathan Brown (who I think offered his help previously?), Wayne Carey or Matthew Lloyd. I want Sam Weideman to succeed but he has definitely gotta change his attitude and become a lot meaner and attack the ball more.
-
Incredibly angry about tonight's performance. We need to do better than that! The Demons had their chances to win but made far too many mistakes. Not hungry enough attacking the ball either. I cannot help but call out Steven May's absolute howler of a kick which was one of the main factors why we lost the game to the Bulldogs. In the end the Bulldogs were more desperate and wanted to win the game more. The Demons players certainly need to pull their fingers out if they expect to be any chance against Fremantle next week in Perth.

Between the Flags - a great new book on the MFC
Supreme_Demon replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
This book sounds fantastic! I was very much hoping someone would write a book about our 57 year long drought! I am incredibly relieved the Premiership drought is now over. I will definitely look to purchase a copy of this book. -
Wow! Just amazing! I am glad to be proven wrong. I didn't expect us to get past the milestone of 65,000+ Melbourne Demons members. This really is an absolutely fantastic achievement by the Melbourne Football Club. To think that 10 years ago we were lucky to get to 30,000 members and we were striving for 40,000 members which, at the time, seemed almost impossible. The late and great Jimmy Stynes would be incredibly proud! It brings a tear to my eye thinking about how far we have come after so many years of pain and misery. 🥲 We now need to have sustained success over the next few years with more Premierships so that we can compete with the bigger clubs and look to have 80,000+ Melbourne Demons members on a regular basis in the near future! 😎👍
-
Was hoping for 65,000+ members. But nevertheless 62,813 (so far) is an amazing effort for the Melbourne Football Club. Congratulations to all those loyal Melbourne Demons supporters have have signed up! As I mentioned previously, I remember the days when we were happy to get at least 20,000 members. How times have changed and it just goes to show that you not only need to win Premierships but you must have sustained success over many decades to compete with the likes of Collingwood, Richmond, Essendon, Carlton and Hawthorn. I am hopeful that we are on the right track to eventually have over 80,000+ members in the future. But it will take time and more Premierships!

Carlton Draft: Nathan Jones at Port Arlington
Supreme_Demon replied to DEE fence's topic in Melbourne Demons
Great to see Nathan Jones playing footy still. Especially for a Demons team! -
Fantastic news! I definitely rate Daniel "Disco" Turner. Lets hope he gets another chance to play with the Demons AFL side some time in the near future.
-
What a pleasant surprise! I didn't expect this to happen this year with Clayton Oliver signing a long-term contract. It shows that Clarrie has a lot of faith in the Melbourne Demons and wants to be part of long-term success. Let's hope this signing inspires both Angus Brayshaw and Luke Jackson to follow suit with signing their contracts. Time to build a Demons Dynasty with multiple Premierships!
-
No changes unless there are injuries. Toby Bedford is starting to play with confidence and realising he can be an AFL player!
-
Excellent news! 🙂👍 The sooner our permanent base is sorted out and scheduled to be built the better! Time for the Melbourne Demons to finally have a home base for both administration and training.
-
Glad to get the win. I enjoyed it. Jack Viney probably played the best game he has ever played for the Melbourne Football Club. Absolutely inspirational!
-
Losing to the scum in Collingwood always angers me more than anything. Their vile supporters think the "still time to go to the snow" insult is going to work. 🙄 Anyway, we are definitely out of form and the bye will hopefully be a good chance to refresh and reset for the 2nd half of the season.
-
Congratulations on Big Benny Brown reaching 150 AFL games! Well and truly deserved! Would love to see Big Benny Brown kick 10 goals against his old side North Melbourne! Which will probably be more than their entire team kicks.😁 But I will settle for 6 or 7 goals.
-
Not surprised. I did think Jake Melksham would be likely to get a chance this week to replace James Harmes. They both play similar roles as midfielders and half forward flankers. However, I would of thought Toby Bedford would of been more likely to get the nod though. But I guess he will probably be the medi-sub again?
-
I had a massive smile on my face watching that video snippet about the Demons. 😁 It really is incredible how the culture and the attitude of the Demons players has changed. You have to take your hat off to Simon Goodwin, the coaching staff and the entire team. What an enormous turnaround from the dark days when we would be regularly belted by 100+ points in a game only a few years ago.
-
Jack Viney is definitely as tough as nails and more inspirational than ever. He doesn't have the burden of shouldering the entire team on his shoulders as he thought he needed to in his first few years at the Melbourne Football Club. Jack Viney is playing with a lot more freedom and you can tell he definitely enjoys his football now. Probably the best thing is how much his kicking has improved (probably thanks to Mark "Choco" Williams) over the last 12 months.

Welcome to Demonland: Jacob Van Rooyen
Supreme_Demon replied to MadAsHell's topic in Melbourne Demons
I would definitely like to see Jacob Van Rooyen have his debut for the Demons soon. Not sure if it will be this week against the Kangaroos (especially as Sam Weideman also kicked 6 goals) though. Nevertheless, I think he will definitely get a chance this season if he continues to kick bags of goals for Casey at VFL level. The wonderful thing is that there is no pressure on him to come and play AFL when he isn't ready yet. As others have mentioned, it is certainly a far cry from the days of when Jack Watts was "thrown to the wolves" against Collingwood in this debut game on Queen's Birthday Monday back in 2009. I remember receiving the text message from the Melbourne Football Club announcing the debut of the 2008 number 1# draft pick as they were desperate to have Demons supporters attend the match at the MCG to get a decent crowd. How times have changed! -
What They Are Saying at Arden Street
Supreme_Demon replied to Lucifers Hero's topic in Melbourne Demons
After losing to North Melbourne for 14 games in a row (as I recall?) from about 2007 until 2018 I think it is about time we inflict a bit of pain back upon them. Fingers crossed for a 100+ point win just like the Casey Demons did against the North Melbourne reserves in the VFL over the weekend. Would love Big Benny Brown to kick 10 goals against his old side too!- 84 replies

PARKIN: Short Priced Dees Could Learn From ‘95 Blues
Supreme_Demon replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I remember Carlton in 1995 were a very dominant side. Was easily the best team all year and destroyed Geelong in the Grand Final. I think they were fired up after losing against us in the 1994 finals series. As for David Parkin, I always remember the veins in his neck bulging as he was screaming on the phone in the coaches box back in the day. 😂 Apparently he used to be a Melbourne supporter growing up as a kid before being recruited by Hawthorn. I cannot confirm this though just remember hearing about it. 🤔 -
Disappointing to lose James "Chompers" Harmes. He has been in good form and his kicking has certainly improved over the last 12 months. I would love to see Bailey Laurie get a chance against the Kangaroos even just as a medical substitute. We definitely need to give our younger players a taste of AFL experience. However, I think Toby Bedford, Kade Chandler (if he isn't suspended) and Jake Melksham are the front-runners to replace James Harmes.
