  1. I've always rated Jayden Hunt when he plays forward. There's been a few games where he's kicked 3 or so goals playing either half-forward flank or forward pocket. I remember against Essendon twice he kicked a few goals. He also kicked that massive torpedo goal against Adelaide that time in Darwin. While his pace is a weapon, I tend to agree with others that he often fumbles and turns the ball over too much in the back line. At AFL level you definitely cannot risk too many turnovers in defence and Jayden Hunt is sadly a culprit of this. If we lose him to West Coast then so be it. I would rather play Jake Bowey in defence as at least you can trust his elite kicking. Anyway, that's just my 2 cents on Jayden Hunt.

Exactly! It isn't about "stamping feet" and having a tantrum. We are adults here. I don't expect our home ground to be built in 12 months. I am realistic that things take time. Dealing with the Government is never an easy or swift process. All we want is to see some progress!
  3. Just wanted to ask people's opinions on who will win this year's Keith "Bluey" Truscott Trophy for 2022? There's an article about it found here: https://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/1229898 Personally, I think it will be either Clayton Oliver or Christian Petracca with Steven May as a dark horse to win it. I definitely think it will be pretty close this year! My top 5 for the Demons Best & Fairest would be: 1) Clayton Oliver 2) Christian Petracca 3) Steven May 4) Max Gawn 5) Jack Viney Anyway, please let me know who you think will be your top 5 in the Melbourne Demons Best & Fairest for 2022 ok?

All I will say is that I expect many Melbourne members to ask the hard questions to the MFC board about our home base being built in the MCG precinct and what the timeline will be. I am sure a number of us will do this at the upcoming MFC members forum (if it is happening?) as well as the MFC AGM. We must demand results and hold those MFC board members on the home base committee accountable. All we want is honesty and transparency about what is happening.
  5. Yes, absolutely. It all depends upon if a retired AFL player has the desire to coach as well. Garry Lyon probably would of become a brilliant AFL coach but he chose the media route and I don't think he regrets it. You gotta want to be an AFL coach.
  6. Lots of learnings for the Melbourne Demons. Hopefully, Simon Goodwin has a good break too and recharges his batteries. I want him and the rest of the coaching staff and players fully focused on having a successful season in 2023. GO DEMONS! 🔴🔵👹
  7. Ideally I would like to keep Adem Yze at Melbourne. But he will get a senior AFL coaching job at another club eventually and we need to accept that. As long as we get good quality assistant coaches to replace Adem Yze then I won't be too worried.
  8. There are definitely a few retiring champions at other AFL Clubs that could become assistant coaches at the Demons. It will also be interesting what happens to some of the assistant coaches at Essendon depending upon who gets the vacant senior coaching role there. Both Blake Caracella and Daniel Giansiracusa are highly regarded. Additionally, there are lots of options for the Demons... 1) Stevie J aka Steve Johnson 2) Josh Kennedy from the Swans 3) Josh Kennedy from the Eagles 4) David Mundy from the Dockers 5) Gary Ablett Junior 6) Shaun Higgins from the Cats 7) Robbie Gray from Port Power 8) Shane Edwards from the Tigers 9) Jarryn Geary from the Saints 10) Liam Shiels from the Hawks Here are 10 suggestions of recently retired players we could at least consider having at the Melbourne Football Club as assistant coaches.
  9. With Ben "Truck" Rutten rejoining the Richmond coaching staff we will need to look at other options. Particularly, IF we end up losing Adem Yze if he is successful in getting the Essendon senior coaching role. As much as I am sure some here would disagree, I would definitely like the Melbourne Football Club to look to approach someone like Nathan Buckley. He would be an excellent midfield coach and could still do at least some of his media commitments. It would definitely be a tantalizing offer to get the chance to coach Clayton Oliver, Christian Petracca, Jack Viney and Max Gawn in the Demons midfield. Anyway, I guess we shall have to wait and see what happens during the off season. Additionally, I wouldn't mind asking Nick Riewoldt if he wanted to help out as a forwards coach either. Are there any other suggestions on who the Demons should consider pursuing to enhance our coaching staff?

Hope that the feeling of disappointment and frustration burns in the guts for Max Gawn and the rest of the Melbourne players. Remember....as Ricky Bobby says in Talladega Nights..."If you ain't first, you're last!" Winning Premierships for the Melbourne Demons on the MCG is what really matters! 🏆🔴🔵

I think the May Vs Melksham fight out the front of the restaurant definitely soured things within our culture a few months ago. May should never have been there drinking and also saying the nasty things which he did. Not that Melksham should be knocking people out either! Nevertheless, I am of the view that it has all been reconciled and they are all friends again....hopefully. Let's hope the humiliating exit from the 2022 finals in straight sets will galvanize the entire team so that they are determined to make a mends next season in 2023. Fingers crossed the Demons come back fit and firing for their first day of preseason in November or whenever it starts?

Ok fair enough. Hopefully Judd McVee shows more improvement in 2023. I found most of the matches that I watched him playing for Casey Demons in the VFL a little underwhelming but time is on his side. Needs to get super fit and more of the ball.

Isaac Keeler from North Adelaide definitely looks like an exciting prospect. Perhaps he would be a suitable replacement for Luke Jackson?
  14. Supreme_Demon replied to dazzledavey36's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
Is Darcy Tucker a good kick? Personally, I would rather that the Demons chase after Hayden Young as part of a trade to Fremantle for Luke Jackson.

Well we know that Majak Daw retired earlier in the year. Furthermore, we now know that Luke Jackson has sadly requested a trade back to WA. The question is....who else will be leaving the Demons in 2022? I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Sam Weideman is traded. I think his time is up at the Demons and it is time for him to have a fresh start at a new AFL Club. Whether or not Jayden Hunt stays is also an interesting scenario as I think he is now a free agent? In my view, I believe that Oskar Baker, Fraser Rosman, Mitch Brown and Judd McVee will all be delisted.
  16. Fantastic to hear! Let's hope he plays well but not too well. We don't want another Mac Andrew situation to arise with another NGA player for the Demons. I still feel we were definitely cheated by the AFL in what happened there! 🤬
  17. It looks like Lachie Neal from the Brisbane Lions is slight favourite with Clayton Oliver a very close second. I am happy for a tie with Lachie Neal but it would certainly be nice for Clayton Oliver to win the 2022 Brownlow Medal outright. Anyway, here is an interesting article about it: https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/brownlow-medal/brownlow-medal-2022-stats-preview-analysis-predictions-winner-favourites-odds-clubbyclub-best-chances-to-win-chances-of-a-tie/news-story/18524184fdd052236ef150723014cbc6 Good luck Clarrie! We hope you win the Brownlow! We all love you here at the Demons! Photo of Clayton Oliver with his "Checker" Hughes Medal from an ANZAC Eve Game against Richmond.
  18. My 7 ideal players that the Demons should look to possibly consider drafting (if we get 2 first round draft picks for Luke Jackson and keep them both) in the 2022 AFL National Draft would be the following young players in no particular order. 1) Aaron Cadman - Because we need a tall forward and he looks the best in the draft. 2) Matthew Jefferson - If we miss out on Aaron Cadman and want another likely tall forward. 3) Harry Sheezel - Just for pure talent and the goal kicking x factor that he has. 4) Bailey Humphrey - You simply cannot say no to a powerful goal kicking midfielder. 6) Isaac Keeler - An Indigenous forward-ruckman who could be an ideal replacement for Luke Jackson. 7) Lachie Cowan - A hard running defender-midfielder from Tasmania who could be a long term replacement for Michael Hibberd.
  19. Hmmm....I did not know about this. Quite disappointing to hear that Jackson Callow has injured his ankle. Nevertheless, I think that the Demons could at least offer him a rookie spot. He has shown he has the talent and I think he would provide a better option than Mitch Brown in the future.
  20. What an absolute disgrace! Clayton Oliver could of been blinded! It was a despicable act by Jarrod Berry from the Brisbane Lions gouging at Clayton's eyes. Did you see Clayton's eye during the game? It was severely bruised with blood in his eyeball! I feel sorry for Clarrie he cops it every week from opposition midfielders trying to tag him. Let's hope he wins the 2022 Brownlow Medal this year to show the rest of the AFL why we rate him so highly. Shove it up the haters Clarrie! We love you here at the Demons!

Jackson Callow was delisted by the Hawks a few weeks ago. He will be a delisted free agent who I think the Demons should at least consider recruiting. Was originally a Tasmanian who was overlooked in the draft and then played for Norwood in the SANFL. He is a tall forward who is about 195-196cms in height and still only 20 years of age. Was apparently a Melbourne Demons supporter as a kid growing up in Tasmania. I don't know what his deficiencies are seeing as the Hawks did delist him. However, I think he is worth another chance on an AFL list and we are desperate for young tall forwards to develop. We should definitely look to recruit him and let him play in the forward line for the Casey Demons. That way we can watch him closely and see if he can make it on an AFL list ourselves. Here is his highlights reel at Norwood playing for the Redlegs in the SANFL. https://youtu.be/48RR72CzVh8 Here is Jackson Callow taking a massive mark at full speed while at Norwood. https://youtu.be/__RNFgjfcy8 Here are highlights of him playing in the Under 18s competition for Tasmania and NAB All Stars back in 2020. https://youtu.be/fM2kOFJywvg Anyway, I hope MFC Recruiting Boss Jason Taylor has a look at possibly picking up Jackson Callow as a delisted free agent.
  22. If we get pick #2 from West Coast I would split that into two separate first round draft picks. The first one (ideally a top 5 pick) we use on someone like Aaron Cadman from the North Ballarat Rebels. The second first round pick we give to Collingwood for Brodie Grundy and for them to pay half his salary. That would be the best ideal scenario.
  23. Disappointed that Luke Jackson is leaving the Demons. I guess the longer it dragged on the more likely it was going to happen. I was hopeful he would stay...but the pull of family and big money won out. At least he helped us break our 57 year Premiership drought. Nobody can ever take that away from him. Glad he just said a WA Club as that gives the Demons more bargaining power. I would expect either 2 first round picks or a first round pick and a good player in return. Let's now enjoy seeing Fremantle and West Coast fight it out to give the Melbourne Football Club the best trade deal for Luke Jackson.

I think all of us as Melbourne Demons members and supporters need to be focused on the issue of a home base in the off season. I encourage every one of us to keep the pressure on the Melbourne Football Club board so that this matter of a home base is resolved. This means ringing the Club, sending emails to the Club and asking these questions about a home base at Club functions as well as at the AGM and other Melbourne member forums. If we keep up the inquiry and the demand of a home base....hopefully it will indeed happen. Eventually!
  25. I was just wondering who we could add to the Melbourne Demons coaching staff to help us next year in 2023? I definitely think Simon Goodwin would like to improve our line coaches. I know a lot will depend if Adem Yze ends up getting the Essendon coaching job or (hopefully) stays with us. Nevertheless, I think the Melbourne Demons should definitely look to consider pursuing Ben Rutten and Nathan Buckley. I do not like to compare with other clubs. But if you look at Collingwood they definitely improved their coaching staff for 2022. They brought in Brendon Bolton and Justin Leppitsch who have definitely helped Craig McCrae in his first year as senior coach at the Magpies. Obviously we still have Mark "Choco" Williams who has been absolutely fantastic for us. As has Adem Yze in supporting Simon Goodwin. We also shouldn't forget the efforts made by Troy Chaplin and Greg Stafford. Not to mention the Casey Demons VFL coach Mark Corrigan. Alan Richardson does a brilliant job as Football Manager and I am sure Sam Radford contributes immensely too. Nevertheless, I just would like to see improvements made for our forward line connection and if we can bring some more talented coaches in to help improve team performance then that would definitely make a difference. I also still think we need a proper goal kicking coach at the Melbourne Football Club. Anyway, please let me know your thoughts on whether or not we should consider pursuing Ben Rutten and Nathan Buckley to join our coaching staff at the Melbourne Football Club? I think anything we can do to help us improve for season 2023 needs to at least be considered.
