Wow! Just amazing! 60,000 Melbourne Football Club members! What a wonderful milestone! It almost brings a tear to my eye. I remember when we were struggling to get to over 20,000 members back in the late 1990s. Well done and congratulations to all those paid up Melbourne Football Club members! Let's get to 65,000 members! That's the next achievement! GO DEMONS!!!

The Veil of Negativity is gone … forever?
Supreme_Demon replied to DubDee's topic in Melbourne Demons
After 57 years of pain and misery the "veil of negativity" is still somewhere deep in the lowest confinements of the Melbourne Football Club basement. A Premiership drought of that long scars you psychologically. The amount of times I had been disappointed and frustrated in the past really affected me. At times I thought we would never win another Premiership. I was over the moon to be proven wrong. Nevertheless, we still need to win a Premiership here at our spiritual home ground the MCG so we can all really experience it in Melbourne. After that, as others have said, we need to have long-term sustained success. Going on my own personal calculations we need to win at least another 5 Premierships (1 for each decade) to make up for 57 years. I think that's only fair. HAHAHAHAHA! 😁😆😂 -
Angus Brayshaw played a magnificent game against the Saints. Probably one of his best ever games for the Demons. Fingers crossed Angus Brayshaw signs up with us soon! 🤞

As much as it's fun to speculate I am going to continue to be humble and just take it one game at a time. As Simon Goodwin says...we need to respect the game and respect our opposition. The Demons now need to focus on West Coast and deal with a new challenge playing over in Perth at Optus Stadium. No point looking further than that.

I don't expect any changes. If Jake Lever isn't 100% fit from his corkie we can always slot Adam Tomlinson back in who has shown good form in the VFL at Casey. If Max Gawn isn't 100% fit we can always play Majak Daw alongside Luke Jackson in the ruck. I know Majak Daw has been playing well in the ruck for Casey in the VFL too. It will be a case of one soldier out and one soldier in as long as that player follows their assigned role in the team. Anyway, both Jake Lever and Max Gawn have a few days to recuperate until our match against West Coast next Sunday evening in Perth.

1980s logos on cheersquad flags? Should we have them too?
Supreme_Demon replied to Supreme_Demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
I am definitely still curious as to where the Collingwood, Essendon and Western Bulldogs cheersquads got their 1980s logos flags made. Frustratingly, I don't have a clue how to find out? I guess I could email the cheersquads and ask? I am assuming it must be a flag making company in Melbourne somewhere?- 29 replies

Premiership Coach Simon Goodwin extends until 2024
Supreme_Demon replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Excellent news! A 2 year contract is reasonable considering the upcoming CBA. Now Simon Goodwin can focus on helping the Melbourne Demons achieve even greater heights! Let's hope that this inspires both Angus Brayshaw and Luke Jackson to also sign up. Time to build a new Demons Dynasty! -

1980s logos on cheersquad flags? Should we have them too?
Supreme_Demon replied to Supreme_Demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
I used to love the early 1990s Demon mascot when I was a kid at primary school. 🥰 I remember having it on a jumper that my Parent's bought for me way back then and wearing it all the time. Those were the days! 😁- 29 replies

1980s logos on cheersquad flags? Should we have them too?
Supreme_Demon replied to Supreme_Demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
That's a good point. Did discussion amongst rival AFL Club cheersquads actually happen or did the AFL fund it? I imagine it was just done independently by each AFL Club cheersquad? I can't imagine the Essendon, Western Bulldogs and Collingwood cheersquads coordinating together to be honest. It wouldn't be very civil! 😂 Nevertheless, I am definitely curious as to where the 1980s logos flags were made? Who was the printer/flag-maker? If we can find out who produced the flags then we can look to obtain quotes and find out how much it would cost to get them made. 🤔- 29 replies

I am just going on what the previous quoted figures were to build a Home Base for the MFC. I would think $100 million would be enough.

Will be interesting if we keep Luke Dunstan in the team against his old side the Saints. I am sure he has a point to prove against his former Club.

1980s logos on cheersquad flags? Should we have them too?
Supreme_Demon replied to Supreme_Demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
No comments? Didn't think my suggestion of 1980s logo flags was that horrible?! 🤔 Either way, I would love to see the Demon Army grow in numbers and have more flags being waved at games.- 29 replies

Congratulations on 200 games Tommy "Macca" McDonald! Fingers crossed he gets the nod to play this week against St. Kilda? "Macca" has definitely done it the "hard way" to reach 200 games. As he said himself, we were a "rabble" and we were able to turn it around. We are now reigning Premiers! I want to say a massive THANK YOU to "Macca" for his hard work and loyalty as a Demon. Hopefully he gets to play 250+ games for us by the time he retires!

Yeah, I saw that too. I think we are better off funding it ourselves. We are probably going to need $500 million for a training and home base though..that's going to take a while to save up.... 😔

Firstly, this is merely a suggestion and by no means do I wish to annoy the Demon Army who do an amazing job and who volunteer huge amounts of time and effort to support the Melbourne Demons. I have a lot of admiration and respect for them. Especially as it would be a lot of hard work preparing banners and all the other things they do to support the club. As for my suggestion, I am sure a fair few of us do, being fans of Australian Rules Football in general, often watch other AFL games on TV besides our beloved Melbourne Demons. However, has anyone else noticed that quite a few of the other AFL cheersquads have large flags with the oldschool 1980s logos on them? I have definitely seen the Western Bulldogs, Essendon and Collingwood cheersquads with flags using their 1980s logos. I think they look brilliant! I am a big fan of the Melbourne Demons 1980s logo, as shown here: My question is, where did the other AFL cheersquads get their 1980s logo flags made and would it be worthwhile seeing if people are interested possibly getting them made for the Melbourne Demons cheersquad perhaps? People could possibly chip in a little bit of cash to help pay for one or two of them to be made maybe? However, that's only if the Demon Army are interested in this suggestion though? They may already have plenty of flags for the time being as I am not part of the cheersquad and don't know if they want more flags or have enough people to wave them? Anyway, I am just putting the idea out there as I would hope that with our recent Premiership success more people would like to be part of the Melbourne Demons cheersquad and have flags to wave? Especially younger supporters? Plus I think it would be great to see the Melbourne Demons 1980s logo being waved on large flags like other AFL cheersquads are doing.

I was there at the MCG on Saturday evening against the Hawks. The crowd figure was definitely 39k something. We should still be tracking well to get close to 60k MFC members signed up soon.
-
I also heard about this news. A $1 billion dollar upgrade of the MCG. Here is the link: https://www.triplem.com.au/story/a-1-billion-upgrade-of-the-mcg-is-on-the-table-194831 I don't know how just a 5 star hotel and an upgrade to the newly named Shane Warne Stand with an increase in the amount of seating at the MCG will cost $1 billion dollars?! Are we putting a roof on the MCG too?! Anyway, I understand that the money will belong to the MCC but you would think some of that could go towards the MFC too? We are supposed to be realigned with them afterall? In the end, I am just hopeful we can eventually get a training and administration home base built that we don't need to share with anyone else at Gosch's Paddock. If that means that we as Melbourne supporters have to chip in and pay for it ourselves then so be it. Particularly as it looks like nobody else will!

When was the last time you watched Melbourne lose?
Supreme_Demon replied to Big Col's topic in Melbourne Demons
Last game was the horrible GWS match in 2021 at the MCG where we should of selected Ben Brown to play but we didn't. I have seen Melbourne lose far too much over the years. It is never a fun feeling on the long train ride home. As strange as it is...we need to get used to winning now! After 57 years of pain (as Max Gawn said) we deserve a bit of joy and happiness. Long may this new successful era of the Melbourne Football Club continue! -
If we keep winning we should reach 60,000 soon. Fingers crossed we can reach 65,000! 🤞 I think it will take another Premiership in the near future to break the barrier of 70,000+ MFC members. In the end, we need to focus on sustained success for the next 10, 20 and even 30 years. If we can do that then our future will be very bright indeed.

I always had the impression that Nathan Buckley was a fanatical Collingwood supporter and that is why he left the Brisbane Bears and went to Collingwood? Either way, I think Nathan Buckley will definitely get another senior coaching gig at an AFL Club. Whether it is at Port Adelaide, Gold Coast, GWS or even North Melbourne we shall have to wait and see. 🤔

Adem Yze has been absolutely fantastic since coming back to the Melbourne Demons. He is most certainly appreciated! I hope that we can keep Adem as an assistant coach at the Melbourne Football Club as long as possible. However, I am pragmatic that he will eventually want a senior coaching role at an AFL club very soon. Let's hope that when he does take on a senior coaching role it is not until after the completion of a Melbourne Demons finals campaign .

I try to forget 2012. We were awful that year...although 2013 was worse. I remember when we had all these high hopes for Mark Neeld as the new Melbourne Demons coach. Lol! 😅🤣😆
