  1. Angus Brayshaw has been fantastic for the Melbourne Demons. Not only has his disposal and decision making improved out of sight, but his leadership qualities are fantastic. I also think he is a brilliant clubman and you know that he loves the Melbourne Football Club. He is a vital component of our new "Demon Spirit" winning culture and I genuinely hope he stays with the Melbourne Football Club.
  2. Fingers crossed we can get to 65,000 Demons members. We are tracking along nicely. Just gotta keep winning! If we get over 70,000 members I will be over the moon!
  3. We basically suffocated Port Power. Keeping them to no goals for a half! Just wow! I remember games where Melbourne didn't score a goal for a half. Port Power were humiliated. Was a very clinical but ugly win. Would of been a good percentage booster if we didn't muck around with it so much going forward. I felt they were a bit too cute with the handballing at times. Nevertheless, a win is a win! Max Gawn played a brilliant game. Sadly Sam Weideman didn't grasp his opportunity and I expect Ben Brown to be back in the side against GWS.
  4. Sorry but I gotta put in my 3 word comment for Sam Weideman. Disappointing effort tonight. After last week kicking 4 goals against Essendon I held high hopes he would contribute. I barely noticed him tonight.
  5. I agree. Sam Weideman's performance was underwhelming tonight.
  6. I was just wondering what fellow Demons supporters thoughts are on who from the Melbourne Demons are a good chance to win the Brownlow Medal this year? Personally, I think Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver would definitely be strong chances. I am slightly in favour of Christian Petracca due to his current line of form. However, the sad fact is, the last time we had a Brownlow Medal favourite in Cameron Bruce back in 2005 he ended up with a brutally injured shoulder from a tackle by Brent Guerra from St. Kilda. Anyway, as much as I would like to see another Melbourne Demons player win a Brownlow Medal (our last one being Shane Woewodin in 2000), I would much more prefer to see the Melbourne Demons win another Premiership. Nevertheless, I am interested in hearing other people's thoughts on who they think is likely to win the Brownlow Medal in 2022.
  7. Wow! Well done Jake Bowey! 9 games and 9 wins so far. His calmness under pressure and his foot skills as well as his decision making is a pleasure to watch. He also has 2 NAB Rising Star nominations now and a 2021 AFL Premiership medallion to go with it! The most exciting thing is he will continue to get better and better as a footballer as he gains more AFL experience. Bluey Bowser has been fantastic for the Melbourne Demons so far! However, we definitely shouldn't forsake the profound impact (my favourite) Mark "Choco" Williams has had in developing these young players at the Melbourne Demons.
  8. I am still hopeful the Luke Jackson stays with the Melbourne Demons. He could get paid more elsewhere at West Coast or Fremantle. Although, we will pay him reasonably well too. I am a bit annoyed at David Schwarz saying he is worth $1 million a season though! While Luke Jackson could be worth that much in the future. To say he is worth that now puts undue pressure on him and the club. Especially as we need to take into account that Angus Brayshaw's contract finishes at the end of this season and I think Clayton Oliver's contract finishes next year or the year after. However, if Luke Jackson wants to win more Premierships and create a Chicago Bulls or Los Angeles Lakers or Boston Celtics style dynasty at the Melbourne Demons (kinda like we did in the 1950s and early 1960s) then he will stay. In the end, he will need to decide between money and extreme scrutiny as an individual or a bit less money and sustained team success. My tip is he will re-sign with the Melbourne Demons. How long his contract will be I have no idea though.
  9. We should not have any sympathy for Essendon. They have humiliated us many, many times before. They should be despised with a passion! In recent memory losing to Essendon by 18 points in round 3 back in 2019. I remember a horrible, mean old man who was an Essendon supporter laughing at us and saying we would be wooden spooners (he wasn't off by much to be brutally honest). Then there was the utter disgrace and ineptitude of losing by 148 points to Essendon in round 2 back in 2013. Mark Neeld had well and truly had his papers stamped to be sacked after that. Then there was the 5 point loss in the elimination final to Essendon way back in season 2004. Ironically the last time Essendon actually won a final. Plus who could ever forget the belting we received when a juggernaut Essendon side beat us in the 2000 AFL grand final by 10 goals (60 points). Luckily I don't have nightmares about that horrific day anymore (breaking our Premiership drought in 2021 cured that!). Lastly there was the massive embarrassment of losing to Essendon by 1 point in round 6 of 1992 when Melbourne were up by 47 at the start of the last quarter! I don't forget those painful losses and neither should any other Melbourne supporter. Fingers crossed the Demons players are focused on the job at hand against Essendon for this Friday.
  10. Hopeful that Lever will be back. But only if 100% fit. Same with Hibberd and Petty. Too early for me to make any other suggestions on who could come in until after the Casey Demons VFL match. Jayden Hunt was poor with his decision making and his disposal at times against the Gold Coast Suns. But I think he should be playing on the half forward line to utilise his speed rather than as a defender. But with our injuries we must make do with what cattle we have available. All I do know is that the Melbourne Demons players should get plenty of rest. They looked totally exhausted at 3/4 time. I would only have one main training session either Tuesday or Wednesday this coming week. Nevertheless, I will put my faith in Selwyn Griffith to know what is best to manage the players with a short turnaround to playing again next Friday night.
  11. Relieved to win ugly. I thought it may be close and we would have a win between 10 and 20 points. The Gold Coast Suns have certainly improved from last time we played them. The Melbourne Demons players looked absolutely cooked at 3/4 time. The heat and humidity really took it's toll. Kicking 5 behinds and no goals in the 4th quarter was a little disappointing. However, we got the win and that's all that really matters. I would definitely only have one training session this coming week and give our players plenty of rest before we play next Friday night against the Essendon Bombers. Fingers crossed Jake Lever returns next match too.
  12. I'm really looking forward to seeing Taj Woewodin develop for the Casey Demons in the VFL. The great thing is that he won't get thrown to the wolves and will get plenty of time to mature and develop in the VFL. Fingers crossed he earns a senior debut in the AFL later this season, but there is absolutely no pressure and it's such a huge asset that we have (my favourite) Mark "Choco" Williams as our development coach!
  13. I am hopeful Luke Jackson will extend his contract with the Melbourne Demons. In my view if Luke Jackson wants to win more Premierships he will stay with us. There is also the opportunity to be part of a dynasty at the Melbourne Demons.
  14. It will be interesting who gets a senior debut for the Demons later this season. I think Woewodin, Laurie, Howes and van Rooyen are all possibilities if they perform well at Casey. Nevertheless, we shall wait and see.
  15. Any further updates as to when Simon Goodwin will sign his contract extension as coach of the MFC? I still think it will be a 5 year contract extension. But we shall wait and see I guess?
  16. A great post! It is definitely a fantastic feeling to be able to wear my Melbourne Demons merchandise almost every day since winning the 2021 AFL Premiership! The more loud and proud Demons supporters out there the better! Go Demons! 🔴🔵👹
  17. The Bulldogs 30 free kicks compared to the Demons 17 free kicks is absolutely ridiculous. Incredibly biased umpiring. It was like the Demons were playing against two teams! But the Bulldogs are well-known for being the umpires favourites.
  18. What about Nathan Jones? I reckon he wouldn't mind playing a few extra games. I understand he has retired....but...never say never!
  19. Unfortunately I missed the documentary due to work commitments. Hopefully, it will be available on Kayo or even on YouTube? We really have suffered more than most our football club. Now, finally, after 57 years of pain, our beloved Melbourne Demons are reigning Premiers! But it still feels a little hollow until we can repeat the glory at the MCG with another Premiership. Fingers crossed we can achieve this at our spiritual home ground the MCG and as many of us as possible can be there to enjoy it with family and friends. GO DEMONS IN 2022!!! 🔴🔵👹
  20. I was just wondering if there has been any news about who will be unfurling the 2021 AFL Premiership Flag for the Round 1 game against the Bulldogs at the MCG? Who will be unfurling the flag for the Melbourne Football Club? I'm assuming it will be Ron Barassi? Or perhaps Nathan Jones? Or even Neale Daniher? However, it is my view that the honour should go to Ron Barassi due to him missing out at the Premiership celebrations in December 2021 due to unfortunately catching COVID-19. It will be wonderful to see Ron Barassi hoisting the Melbourne Demons first Premiership Flag since 1964! Our Premiership drought of 57 years finally over! GO DEMONS!!! We are the reigning Premiers! 😁
  21. Yes, of course. I just like the WEG artwork. The 1988 grand final was a horrible day! I was too young to remember it but it's not something I would ever want to re-watch either. The 2000 grand final was terrible enough! Nevertheless, the 1958 losing grand final poster has now been re-used by the WEG family. Time for the 1988 and 2000 losing grand final posters to be re-used as well....hopefully!
  22. I would love a 350 game player, a 400 game player and a 100 goals in a season forward line player for Melbourne. I would also like another team to lose by over 190+ points in an AFL game. However, I will choose more Premierships over all of these records every time. After a 57 year Premiership drought finally over I think we all would like to see a bit of sustained success by the Demons. Winning Flags is all that matters.
  23. Good news! I was kindly given a copy from a person on Big Footy of the image of the WEG 1988 losing VFL Grand Final poster for Melbourne. It's a ripper this poster! I highly recommend people save this image as it is very rare!
  24. I unfortunately have work commitments and cannot attend the 2022 MFC AGM. Can someone who is attending please ask some questions at the AGM on my behalf? They are combined questions. But I think it is important that they are asked. 1) What is happening with the progress of the Home Training Base? Is it still a priority for the MFC? Why is it taking so long? How much will it cost and can a fund raising campaign be initiated so that MFC members and supporters can financially contribute? 2) Why were MFC members not sent their MFC board election papers earlier? Why were some MFC members not sent their MFC board election papers or they were sent to the wrong address? How is a democratically fair and transparent election process supposed to be conducted in these circumstances? Who is going take responsibility for these incompetent mistakes? Anyway, hopefully others here on Demonland feel the same way that these questions need to be answered with a full explanation by the MFC board or CEO Gary Pert (who I think is doing a fantastic job). I am not asking these questions to cause "trouble". I totally support Kate Roffey as President and who ever else is elected on the MFC board. I simply love and care about the MFC and want to have some answers.
  25. I will always have a soft spot for Jesse Hogan. I used to love watching him play for the Demons! He was incredible in his breakout season for the Demons in 2015. I would definitely welcome him back at the Melbourne Football Club. However, we are Premiers without him, and as harsh as it may sound, we don't really need him anymore.
