  1. i think that would rival the side we sent out against geelong in the NAB cup...
  2. from what we're hearing it sounds like it's going to be a good result... lets hope it comes through...
  3. looking at the players melbourne players listed in the seniors for sandringham, you'd suggest that the only players who possibly wouldn't be selected in the best 22 are cheney, mcnamara and zomer... and even on pre season form you'd think mcnamara would be up to the standard... and you forgot to put shane valenti in red... can't let go Bazza?
  4. this match will give us an indication of where we are at i think... more than any of the other pre season games played thus far... our weakness will be our backline i think, and will continue to be until rivers and whelan are on the park... out of the middle and forward lines we're only missing valenti(rookie anyhow), bruce, plus any new draftees who are good enough to get a game...
  5. this is by far the strongest side we've fielded... forward line looks full strength, missing a few from the middle and down back... bruce, rivers, whelan, wheatley the only ones i can think of that are missing... valenti has been rested, and we're only playing 2 ruckman... does this indicate that Paul Johnson gets the nod round 1? from the sounds of things so far he's probably been the best performed of the other 3 ruckman...
  6. i think the written assessment is about right... then you watch the video on the herald sun website, and he doesn't seem as generous... thinks we will finish bottom 4, but at the same time says we could easily win 8-12 games... i don't think he's really formed an opinion about us at all... he seems to think like everyone else we'll finish bottom 4, but when he analyses our list says he could see us doing quite well... it seems like he has to talk himself into the fact we won't do that well...
  7. channel 9 showed a shot of brock at the press conference... he looked completely devestated and disappointed, which is a good thing... hopefully he can come out and play some good football...
  8. Courtesy of Quarters, Channel 10.
  9. i think i'll set the dvd recorder, hopefully it's reasonably comprehensive...
  10. i think you'll find Bailey wasn't concerned with the result of the match... the reason for the training session was the number of undisciplined free kicks that we conceeded... i have the feeling even if we had only just lost, the session still would've happened because of the lack of discipline...
  11. good to hear miller is playing well down back... would be fantastic if he could slot in down there and do a good job for us...
  12. pretty much spot on, i'd drop bartram and bring in dunn for the best 22... and to be honest valenti would be in there too if he weren't a rookie...
  13. well this is what we wouldn't have if we still had those players... Farmer - We got pick 17 from Freo. Traded to Geelong with pick 41 (Henry Playfair) for Clint Bizzell. Thompson - Traded for Pick 12, which we traded to get Brent Moloney from Geelong. Jolly - Traded to Sydney for Pick 15 (Lynden Dunn). Armstrong - Delisted. Still wouldn't get a game with us I wouldn't think. Johnstone - Traded for pick 14 (Jack Grimes). Obviously a disadvantage this year, but a trade for the future. so effectively: Out: Farmer, Thompson, Jolly, Armstrong, Johnstone & Pick 41 (Henry Playfair). In: Moloney, Dunn, Grimes, Bizzell (retired).
  14. http://www.realfooty.com.au/news/news/head...2760495699.html it sounds as if we're leaving no stone unturned...
  15. i'm not sure exactly what an innovations coach does, but i like the sound of more investment in the footy department... http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/sport/afl...8-19742,00.html
  16. that would be very good for the club if it happens...
  17. just thought i'd share the dream I had last night... i dreamt that the draw was changed and we were playing essendon in round one... there was 10 minutes left in the last quarter and we were beating the bombers 433 to 17... bruce was barring about how good a job Dean Bailey had done...
  18. while this doesn't comply with accounting standards, hence the dispute from EY, it makes sense to write it off next year I think... i'm surprised it's taken this long for an article to pop up... i noticed the qualified audit report when the annual report was released...
  19. did anyone go tonight?
  20. thanks craig... good luck in rebuilding that rabble down at tigerland... love your work for the red and blue the last 11 years, and wish you all the best in the future
  21. wouldn't be the most original nickname, i know people who go by TMac... i like the sound of this kid though, liked the video i saw of him on the AFL website, do agree he could be a real steal... him and rivers holding the backline together...
  22. i disagree... we have no one else who is qualified like he is to sit at the selection table for the rookie draft... we've paid him for the last 7 months to watch football, football and more football and now some of the result of that is coming uo, the rookie draft and we don't get his input? it would be like effectively having paid for half the salary of richmond's head recruiter for the season, and not having one ourselves... i think CAC will be professional enough to sit at the MFC table next tuesday and round out a fine stint at the melbourne football club...
  23. when does he head to Richmond? i gather it's three months from now? will he still be with us for the Rookie Draft? it would really annoy me if we've paid him all year to watch kids play football, then he uses the knowledge he's earned to go and draft some kids for richmond in the rookie draft... so surely he heads to Richmond after the rookie draft?
  24. I thought I read somewhere that CAC said Cale Morton was unlikely to play for us this season... he is only 17, so we've drafted him young, and I think he will need a bit of time... however if he's ready, from what we've heard him say already I have no doubt Dean Bailey will give him a go... however I think we're going to have to wait a while to see his talents... Addam Maric will be the first to play for us i think... the way he plays will translate well into AFL quickly, he's already used to being smaller than everyone else and getting knocked around a bit, so i think we will see him feature quite early in the season... Grimes would also be a chance you would think, however I think Maric will be the first new draftee to wear the red & blue.... meesen is always a chance to play too...
  25. i've never seen the bloke play, just read the hype and profiles on websites such as this... but from what I've read if he grows a little more and fills out, he could become a matthew pavlich type player? or is he more of a genuine midfielder?
