  1. why don't you make one trade thread with all your trade theories in it? would save a bit of room, it's still a month before october rolls around
  2. i think it will be up to the new coach, who it sounds like could be named next week... although if bailey or hardwick get the gig they may hold off until hawthorn or port's season is over... but if the new coach is named next week, lets say sheeds... do you think he's going to want to put off players' surgery so they can play at sandy? i wouldn't think so...
  3. it is frustrating that we did have him, but he's only come good now at adelaide... but not much you can do about it except be happy that he's made it...
  4. here is how the team has been named... curious that garland, bizzell and warnock have all been named as emergencies, all seem to be key backs... and godders couldn't even get a go in the emergencies, is he injured? MELBOURNE B: Nathan Carroll, Ryan Ferguson, Nathan Brown HB: Chris Johnson, Brad Miller, Cameron Bruce C: Brad Green, Travis Johnstone, Daniel Ward HF: Byron Pickett, Russell Robertson, Michael Newton F: Colin Sylvia, David Neitz, Paul Johnson FOLL: Jeff White, Brock McLean, Nathan Jones I/C: Mark Jamar, Simon Buckley, Jace Bode, Lynden Dunn EMG: Colin Garland, Clint Bizzell, Matthew Warnock and here is our injury list at present... MELBOURNE: Matthew Bate (thigh) - 1 week Daniel Bell (back) - 1 week James Frawley (ankle) - 1-2 weeks Brent Moloney (groin) - 1-2 weeks Clint Bartram (knee) - season Aaron Davey (hamstring) - season Ben Holland (shoulder) - season Ricky Petterd (lung) - season Jared Rivers (groin) - season Matthew Whelan (ankle) - season Adem Yze (hernia) - season James McDonald - 1 week? Paul Wheatley - 1 week? that's 13 injured players... giving us 28 players to select our side from... with only neville, weetra and godfrey not making the team or the emergency list... fair to say we're in pretty bad shape
  5. this shortlist just goes to show how much the media really know, and how much they think they know... what this shortlist tells me is that the club is really going through a solid, thorough process... from what i can tell so far, i'm pretty sure whoever the club does select (won't be connolly i would hope) will do a good job...
  6. from what i've heard on SEN today it seems the five coaches in the mix are Sheedy, Riley, Connolly, Hardwick and Bailey as i said earlier in the thread, those 5 named in the article were a result of media hype, not of what is actually happening...
  7. to me this doesn't mean that these are definately the final 5... this is the 5 that the media expect will be on the shortlist, however the media think they know more than they actually do... don't be surprised if a smokey or two have made it onto the short list... bailey from port is rumoured to be in the mix, and don't discount sumich either...
  8. He was in great form the last month, but was still one of the players under the pump to keep his spot on the list... if his shoulder is bad, or even a fractured collarbone, have we seen the last of the big fella? i hope not, but i've got a feeling that will be the case...
  9. i agree... that is the proudest i've been of our team when we've lost... the fact we came back with only 1 fit player on the bench... the boys tried their guts out tonight... too bad the first half of the game was horrible...
  10. did anyone hear Mark Doran's segment on Allan Jackovich yesterday? they reminissed on the short but eventful career of Allan Jackovich... as i'm sure most people know, he was the fastest player to kick 50 league goals, in 9 games... however he didn't kick any in his first game, and only 1 in his second, so he kicked the remaining 49 in 7 matches... also for his debut season combining his tally in the reserves and the seniors he kicked 130 goals... they tried getting his contact details of brother Glenn but he told them not to bother, he doesn't like doing interviews or anything anymore... currently lives in Coffs Harbour, enjoying life according to Glenn... he still has problems with his chronic back, the back injury which ended his career... living in the warmer climate of coffs harbour makes it alot more managable... they kept mentioning the extraordinary talent he had which was never completely fulfilled due to injury, keeping jacko to only 50 odd games... he's ranked 13th of all time for average goals per game... could have been one of the greats...
  11. i was in at crown last night and i saw a bunch of aboriginal boys wearing some sort of team sport jacket, i assume it was these kids... might roll in a little earlier on friday to have a look
  12. that would be pretty good magic, only thing this time is that it's an away game, so we won't have the exclusive melbourne members area to spread the banner in like we did in 2005... i remember that day, with the banner being right above me, was pretty awesome... the other thing is, if we beat them are their finals over? they still could make it as they're 6 points clear of the next closest team...
  13. really impressed with dunn's game tonight... to say he had little impact, you need to think before you put these 3 word analysis threads together
  14. frawley and robbo late withdrawals... jamar and buckley into the side... brad miller tagging goodes...
  15. well this is good news... i wasn't initially keen on sheeds, but the more i think about it the more it appeals to me... although as stated in other friends, Craig Cameron must still head the recruiting department, as that is one area where sheedy has let down the bombers... if there are 12 on the shortlist, then i'd imagine it will look something like this... Sheedy Connolly Riley Ratten Bond McKenna Viney Longmire Harvey (perhaps?) O' Donnell there's 10, there's a bunch of other blokes who could also be doing it, but it's hard to say if they'd be in the 12 (jarman, rehn, liberatore, crosisca)
  16. Surprising ... although Jamar isn't in the 22, so at least that would mean PJ will play in the ruck, where he plays for the Demons ...
  17. bye byron... thanks for coming... the first player to go...
  18. B: Whelan Carroll Bell HB: Petterd Rivers Wheatley C: Green Jones Sylvia HF: Bruce Bate Davey F: Robertson Neitz Newton R: White McLean McDonald I: Moloney, Johnstone, P. Johnson, Dunn E: Frawley, Bartram, Brown i'm sure you all think i'm an idiot putting brown ahead alot of others for the emergency list, but his pace and recent good form gets him there... however if blokes like buckley continue to improve then he might fall back further... tall line a little forward, dunn to play as a half forward/wing when he gets on...
  19. there is no way we delist 6 players... the point of playing all these guys is to help decide which of these players gets another crack, and which gets dropped... it's a bit hard to delist blokes when they've spent the whole season in the VFL putting in good peformances... we need to work out whether these guys have a future at our club or not, and this is the best way... i would imagine ward is dropped to sandy from the look of that extended bench... the fact we've dropped PJ suggests he's safe and we need to make a decision on Jamar... given that holland and fergueson have been included at bizzell and carroll's expense tells me that these blokes are in the gun, and that 1 or perhaps both will be delisted... I think Holland will hold on for one more, while we will be saying bye to fergie... frawley is always going to get a game ahead of him in the same position... miller will play all season and i think we will trade him, and brown has been showing plenty in the last couple of weeks... we're going to get belted, but we need to look at these players before we can make a call on any of them...
  20. i think sheedy would be good, but there is a risk he could become st. kilda's malcolm blight... and we don't want that to happen...
  21. good to see B. Moloney named as an emergency too... can't be far away from a senior return... B:Daniel Ward, Nathan Carroll, James Frawley HB: Lynden Dunn, Clint Bizzell, Nathan Brown C: Paul Wheatley, James McDonald, Cameron Bruce HF: Simon Godfrey, Russell Robertson, Aaron Davey F: Colin Sylvia, Brad Miller, Matthew Bate FOLL: Jeff White, Brock McLean, Nathan Jones I/C: Paul Johnson, Chris Johnson, Michael Newton, Simon Buckley EMG: Colin Garland, Brent Moloney, Ben Holland In: Bruce Out: Petterd (punctured lung)
  22. i agree... unless we look at drafting another ruckman i think we will try and trade Jamar to a club where he will get a game, and elevate neaves to the senior list... bode is done i think...
  23. To be honest I think that's it for this season... the next player to debut will be one of our high draft picks next season...
  24. i think there were some positives in CJs game yesterday... as many people have said his strength is that he's skillful and effective by foot... if anything his problem in the past has been his ability to win enough of the ball to be effective... he got 13 disposals yesterday, and he spent only 66% of the game on the ground... if he can get those kind of numbers, but use the ball the way we all know he can then he will be a contributor... and once he gets his confidence up, i'm sure he will get more of the ball...
