  1. i thought wheatley and beamer had a real crack... robbo was dangerous when he had the delivery... weetra can find the footy, just needs a little more composure... cale's kick to green in the last quarter was a gem, shows he knows how to use the ball... i don't think it would've mattered who played on Buddy Franklin, no one could've stopped him...
  2. positive..? we're only going to get better...
  3. i'm not sure how much good this would do... as much as i understand it, north have really been pushing the AFL to play on good friday for the last couple of years, however the AFL haven't allowed it... Pmac would have to bring something extra to the table for the AFL too allow it... perhaps link it in with the good friday appeal or something? perhaps the two clubs involved could agree to donate the gate receipts (or a percentage of) to the good friday appeal? would cost us cash, but be good for the profile...
  4. i think garland will line up on buddy, and i think he'll do a reasonable job too
  5. thought so... get me on the selection panel
  6. i've only seen him play once against geelong in the NAB cup, but garland seemed to move pretty well for a big bloke... after being named down back, could he be given the job on buddy? out of all our defenders he seems to be the best match up... could be an inspired move from bailey...
  7. or Dunn... i think the bench should be... Paul Johnson, Brent Moloney, Cale Morton, Isaac Weetra
  8. yeah, it is... although the entire afl.com preview is a bit silly... they had different people previewing different teams... i looked at all the reviews and worked out how they predicted the afl ladder would finish up... it looked something like this... pretty poor work from AFL.com 1-2. Geelong 1-4. St. Kilda 4. Collingwood 4. Port Adelaide 4. West Coast 5 - 8. Melbourne 6. Brisbane 6. Hawthorn 7. Adelaide 7-10. Kangaroos 7. Bulldogs 8. Sydney -------------------------- 9-12. Essendon 9. Fremantle 11. Carlton 14. Richmond
  9. Matt Burgan has done a season preview for each club. Has predicted for Melbourne to finish in the bottom half of the eight. http://www.afl.com.au/News/NewsArticle/tab...px?newsId=56569 glad to see someone in the media has actually thought about their pre-season predictions...
  10. channel 9 just had a go at making that up... there's no way the team will look like that... only the sides playing tomorrow have had to release any type of official squad, we will name a squad of 25 tomorrow i would think, with the 22 named friday night/saturday morning... i mean they've named whelan on a half back flank, carroll holland frawley and miller all in the one backline? don't think so
  11. this is great news... will be great for the profile of our club... what i'd love to see the club do now is poach fox from Geelong as their 2nd in charge... his AFL experience coupled with macnamee's skills would be a great partnership, in a similar fashion to the way we recruited Chris Connolly to work with Dean Bailey...
  12. you're right, mcnamee has the biggest profile, and seems to be a great administrator, but he's never worked in AFL football before... Fox has seen the great things Cook has done down at Geelong, and the most important thing, he knows what's required to run a successful AFL club... the way I see it, McNamee is Kevin Sheedy, high profile in the media, would create some positive spin for the club, however Fox is the Dean Bailey, the one who seems to really know his stuff, knows what needs to be brought to a modern AFL club... this is all speculation, but i think this is how it will pan out...
  13. i thought the pres was good... spoke well... but we're certainly in the media's sights at the moment... a complete rabble, on and off the field... looking forward to us proving them wrong, we may not be that great, but we're definately not as bad as they make out... CEO recommendation given to the board, which the board has endorsed... package to be negotiated with the nominated person tomorrow, with the announcement to be made before round one...
  14. correct weight kieran... while he isn't as good as he used to be, he's still at least in the top 10 ruckman in the comp, and would be close to top 5... who is better than him? cox sandilands lade ottens mcintosh wouldn't be many more ruckman out there who are better than jeff...
  15. i think both of these players would make a contribution to our side... aussie would give us some x factor in the forward line, with davey playing up the ground... while valenti just knows how to find the footy, especially in the centre square... valenti for me, as i feel he would be a more consistant contributor, and would be a welcome hand in the midfield...
  16. venue barry? i assume it's going to be played at beach road?
  17. while we still have a way to go to get our club in the shape we want, we are still a long way off from being forced into relocation...
  18. To be honest, getting 100 people to something like this in the middle of the week, at a location not in the CBD, I think this is a reasonable turnout. music to my ears, I'm glad we're both on the same page... this is great news, if he can improve these areas of his game he will be a much better player...
  19. well when big neita retires it's gonna be all up to you then mate!
  20. well it would only be the 1 summer if everything goes to plan, but if it helps us now and in 2009 then i'm all for it...
  21. i've always enjoyed your posts Yze_Magic... always good for a read, and I know you care about the red and blue as much as anyone... but this is poor from you if you do it mate... but it's not even round 1, the clubs 150th birthday, and you're going to jump ship... you know what you need to do... this is something i'd expect from supporters of richmond or the filth... not the MFC
  22. given that whelan, bate, bruce and sylvia are unavailable this is my round 1 side... B: Bell - Carroll - Miller HB: Wheatley - Rivers - Yze C: Buckley - McLean - Green HF: Davey - Newton - Petterd F: Robertson - Neitz - Dunn R: White - McDonald - Jones I: Johnson - Moloney - Morton - Bartram
  23. that's a horrible idea... one comparison they made this morning was to collingwood last year, and they way they dealt with Alan Didak... while they heavily sanctioned Didak, he didn't miss a match, as this would've penalised the team... by suspending Col they're not only penalising him, but they're also penalising the team, and that's something i don't agree with... i would've thought the fine, and some other type of sanction would've been appropriate, but let him play round one...
  24. sydney have lost every game for 4 years... although this year they've had some close margin games, which we unfortnately haven't...
  25. very disappointing result... while our backline was missing some players, our midfield and forward lines were almost full strength...
