  1. thought so... final side, out jamar in holland... MELBOURNE v HAWTHORN MELBOURNE B: Matthew Warnock, Colin Garland, Daniel Bell HB: Clint Bartram, Paul Johnson, Cameron Bruce C: Brad Green, Brock McLean, Matthew Bate HF: Cale Morton, Russell Robertson, Brent Moloney F: Aaron Davey, Brad Miller, Austin Wonaeamirri Foll: Jeff White, James McDonald, Nathan Jones I/C: James Frawley, Simon Buckley, Ben Holland, Shane Valenti Emg: Adem Yze, Chris Johnson, Jace Bode In: Holland Out: Jamar (omitted)
  2. Jeff Kennett Tells Us To Relocate, what an arrogant ... he said this in a talk at a charity footy panel tonight... this was reported by hutchy on the footy show... who also reported that within the next 6 weeks we should see a move from Jim Stynes with a ticket to take over the board, planed to be a non-hostile takeover... not sure how much good it will do us...
  3. if i was dean bailey my bench would read... B.Holland, C.Johnson, S.Valenti, J. Frawley J.Bode, S.Buckley, A.Yze however i think he'll play buckley ahead of johnson...
  4. i think the issue with these venues is that they're not meant to be social clubs for the members... they're simply meant to be an external source of revenue for the club... the club may hold functions and things there, but this should only be secondary to running them as profitable businesses...
  5. and yes i heard him on hungry for sport this morning... not good to hear if what he said about leighoak is true... however his opinion is that of a passionate supporter... that's all... it doesn't carry any more weight than any other passionate melbourne supporter....
  6. he's been in the media off and on for a while... his expertise is in racing, but he's also a passionate melbourne supporter... appeared a lot on the fat when it was on the abc... now has spots on SEN on tuesday with KB and saturday morning on hutchy's show... always been passionate about the club, but never in a position to provide solutions... he gives us his opinion, but it's just that, an opinion... as valid and informed as yours and mine I would dare say...
  7. campbell brown was a father/son selection wasn't he? i also doubt we would've had a top 5 pick in 2003 to get mclean with all those players in our side...
  8. no! don't curse him! look what happened last time...
  9. there maybe a young player who neita likes who he wants to have his number...
  10. and bjgc, thank god you don't coach our club... you shouldn't even be let near a football...
  11. paul johnson played full back on tippett... if rivers isn't back from injury i'd keep the three ruckman in... PJ did a good job on tippett even though he kicked 4 goals... think he'd match up okay on roughead... i'd give Chip first crack at Buddy... i don't think it's going to matter who we play on him to be honest... it won't shatter his confidence if he gives him a bath, he's the best forward in the comp... In: Rivers, Whelan Out: Jamar, Bell i'd like to see chris johnson getting a go ahead of buckley, as I think bailey's gameplan really suits him... but there's no point playing buckley for one week and then dropping him, so he keeps his spot for another week... if whelan and rivers aren't fit then no change for me...
  12. good points, but what is causing buckley's poor disposal? is it that he is simply not a good kick? or does he lack the composure to be able to look up find a suitable target and deliver accurately by foot at AFL level? just because he's fast doesn't mean he can keep up with the speed of the game... when he makes these poor kicks, it looks like he's rushed and unsure of himself rather than just a bad kick... and composure is another thing that is very hard to learn... you either have it or you don't...
  13. i think when you're called simon godfrey by the commentator you're future in footy isn't looking too good...
  14. http://www.vu.edu.au/About_VU/Marketing_an...exdl_81935.aspx not a bad job... i wonder if/how much he gets paid to play at Sandy... i've always wondered why he hasn't played local footy... he would make a bucketload... clubs would fork out a lot of cash for him as he'd take a side a long way toward winning a flag...
  15. i'm sure there was a reason, and carroll would've been told that reason and told to work at it down at sandy... as for a reason for the supporters the coach doesn't have to come out and justify every decision he makes to us... we would like him too, but it wouldn't be good for the team for him to do so...
  16. adelaide had 8 players score > 100 supercoach points... we had none... shows how much we were outplayed in the end...
  17. this isn't an answer to the question, but hypothetically if sautner was on the list, would he be good enough to get a game for melbourne at the moment? I think he probably would... ignoring his age and just picking the side on the best available players, he would get a game comfortably with neitz and newton both injured...
  18. the logic behind it isn't that Sautner isn't a good full forward who will win Sandringham games, but as others have said his presence in the side slows the development of other players... we all believe juice will probably be our next full forward... but when has he played there? if our alliance was with say box hill for example, rather than juice playing a season in sandy 2's at full forward, and a season in sandy 1's playing all over the place, he would've had 2 seasons at full forward at VFL level... which option would be better for his development? i think it's pretty obvious...
  19. anyone know why we're not wearing our clash strip today? would've thought we have a pretty bad clash with the crows...
  20. poor 2nd quarter... not much more to say really... umps are looking after the crows, not effecting the result though...
  21. while we're down 20 odd points i'm pretty happy with that quarter... as spud pointed out on the tv adelaide are very efficient going forward... they haven't missed yet with the one behind being punched through by warnock... you're always going to struggle when this is the case... don't think we will win it, but the game plan looks like it's working... valenti has also been good, laid a couple of good tackles and hit aussie with that good pass... shame he missed that shot at goal...
  22. confirmed... PJ in for rivers... interesting to see PJ came in ahead of carroll given we lost a key backman...
  23. yes, as previously stated that would be Chris Johnson... Given Spencer and Meesen played (listed as goal kickers) you would imagine that Paul Johnson didn't play and has gone with the side to Adelaide... good to see CJ find some form, although I'd like to see it happen in a more even contest...
  24. good reason for him to perform then...
  25. final sides are in... In: S. Buckley, S. Valenti Out: P. Wheatley, N. Carroll as expected carroll was dropped... Jamar just manages to keep PJ out of the side... Backs: Frawley, C.Garland, D.Bell Half Backs: C.Bartram, J.Rivers, C.Bruce Centreline: B.Green, B.McLean, M.Bate Half Forwards: C. Morton, R.Robertson, B.Moloney Forwards: A.Davey, B.Miller, A.Wonaeamirri Followers: J.White, J.McDonald, N.Jones Interchange: S.Buckley, M.Jamar, S.Valenti, M.Warnock Emergencies: J.Bode, N.Carroll, P.Johnson
