  1. thought i'd bump this one... he's in the final 22 with Whelan, Jamar and Carroll the emergencies... expect a good game from Chris this Weekend...
  2. that's the key here. he left the club in a better position that what he found it... the media don't seem to think so, we're just their kicking boy at the moment...
  3. i agree it's good to give some kids in the middle some experience... but I think we should still be playing him in the middle... it's ridiculous that Junior gets a run in the back pocket ahead of Matty Whelan... Wheels is a much better back pocket, younger than Junior I believe, and should be getting a game ahead of him if junior is playing in the back pocket...
  4. also i think the title is slightly incorrect... he is the chairman is he not? he is on the board now, and is chairman of that board... so he is not "chairman elect" but the chairman?
  5. apologies... i just read the first line and the last of that first paragraph... and jim's press confrence was great, the short snippet they showed of it... shows just how much he loves the club...
  6. you're kidding right? we've improved out of sight since round one... have shown when it works we can match it with the better sides in the comp... it isn't about winning a few games this year, it's about winning a flag! and good to hear jimmy got in... obviously impressed the remaining board with his intentions going forward, as they said they wouldn't make way if they weren't satisfied with what he was bringing to the table... they obviously were satisfied...
  7. there's no way we'll trade our first round selection, a top 4, probably top 2 pick... if we get a priority pick then you'd think that'd be around the mark of what st. kilda would accept... is he worth a pick somewhere between 17-20? for us? at the stage of where our list is at? no... although i disagree with YM on Tim Boyle... i'd consider a 3rd rounder (pick 33-36) and an upgrade of our next pick, given we'll have 3 top 20 selections and one or two players to come off the rookie list onto the senior list...

generally that's the rule, but Bailey hasn't been sticking to this at all... bringing players in from outside the 25, dropping players who are listed in the starting 18... and naming Frawley at Centre Half Forward, next to Bode and Bartram... well i don't think Richmond would have much idea right now about how we're going to line up from the way the team was named tonight, given the way we've made changes in the past...

hahaha, i know... there's a much better half forward line sitting on the bench... A. Davey M. Bate A. Yze i'm not even going to try and pick the 22 given that extended bench and the way the players have been named, esp. that half forward line... bails is clearly playing funny buggers and will drop someone out of the 18... great to see CJ named though, Ruck Rover!
  10. on the radio today neita talked about how having the development coaches has been great this year, as it's allowed the club to develop the players much better...
  11. this is my idea, a bit more radical, but I think it would be amazing for the competition once gold coast and west sydney enter the competition... 17 rounds, everyone plays everyone once... season ends for the bottom 10 sides, with the top 8 sides all playing each other again in what I call the "post season"... top 4 sides then play off in prelims followed by the grand final... benefits of this system: everyone plays everyone once sides languishing at the bottom don't have to stagger to get to the end of the season the "post season" would feature blockbuster football for seven weeks... only the best sides playing the best sides... would result in increased tv rights... i'm sure the free to air channels would pay extra if they got top of the table clashes every week for seven weeks... it would be like an 9 week finals series... and you have the same amount of weeks of football...
  12. he's one of my favourite young players too... to be honest i probably haven't be paying enough attention to who he's been playing on, and how good a job he's been doing of stopping them getting the ball... but i wouldnt write him off as a forward just yet, he presented well when he went forward in the last quarter, and if the delivery was a little better he would've taken a couple of marks... seems a natural there, but could still learn to be a great midfielder... a player we just need to have some patience with i think...
  13. But he's never had form like his form over the last month. And I think his game is much more suited to Dean Bailey's game plan. I believe once he gets his spot in the side, he won't look back, and will give us some much needed class on the half back line in amongst the likes of Bartram and Bell.
  14. Rivers strained his abdomenal muscles... strange injury... hope it's not code for OP... as for beamer, not good news, his form had been better... should see Valenti come back into the side to replace him in that inside midfielder role... gives zomer the opportunity to claim a spot... if he can kick some goals in the sandy 1's there's no reason he can't be promoted and get a game... if this happens CC did a great job with his rookie drafting last season... would any club have elevated 3 rookies all in the one season before?
  15. how much of the ball did bucks get once moved onto him? it's fine to get him to play tight, but his asset is to run and rebound... what he needs to learn to do is know when to run off and attack off half back, and when to man up and become accountable... he also needs greater composure when he has the ball, tends to blaze away pretty quickly...
  16. out of all our young players, he's the only one who hasn't shown anything in my opinion... just haven't seen any sign of potential in him... the only reasonable game he's played was in the tank match against the blues last season... not sure how long his contract is, but if it is only one season, he's out the door at years end...
  17. no longer injured, played for sandy reserves on the weekend...
  18. they love to have that pause, then they slowly pass their hands by their knees, increasing the speed they move their arms as they go through the motion... i'm sure razor ray practices this at home...
  19. The player shouldn't be making the play shouldn't be penalised. The umpires got the holding the ball calls right, 100%. Too bad they didn't umpire like this earlier in the season where we were getting tackled left, right and centre. Rest of the umpiring was nothing special, just average. But definately a step in the right direction as umpires love to ping blokes for holding the ball, and do it far too often, penalising the player trying to get the footy.
  20. we are lacking a big body up forward as you say, but our forward line looked dangerous on the weekend, quite unpredictable... so do we need to rush him straight back in? dunn presented well there in the last quarter and I think we should throw him back down forward for the entire game next week to give us another marking target... so no need to rush juice in for mine... I forgot about Chip Frawley. So I'd bring him in ahead of Carroll/Martin as I said in the first post. Which would give me the same changes as you with the addition of: Whelan for Bartram
  21. where the socialism comes in is the TV rights... what does it cost the AFL to put on a game of football? nothing, yet they are the ones who get all the TV rights money... if socialism was truely removed from the game, then every club would be able to sell their home games to television providers themselves, or would receive the TV rights money directly... then affiliation fees would be paid back to the AFL... to answer your question I think both... it is protecting us from folding/merging/moving while the AFL choose to protect us, whilst it is also stopping us from growing by not giving us access to funds we generate for the AFL but never receive...
  22. unless they sneak in these fans would pay extra money at the gate to buy a reserved seat, a seat that hasn't been reserved by a melbourne member... shouldn't bother us too much, as they would be forking out extra cash which goes into our clubs coffers to sit there...
  23. he was just reported for wrestling, so he shouldn't be suspended i wouldn't think...
  24. it was great to hear "ooooooooooooooozzzzzzzzzzzzzzzeeeee" echo around the G again... it seemed like a long time since i last heard it... he did do the wrong thing at the end there, but Yze is the type of player who can kick those goals... he took it upon himself to do it, and didn't get there... but they both could've easily gone through and then he's the hero... i'm sure he'll be told during the week he did the wrong thing, but he certainly did enough to keep his spot in the side... one thing i really noticed he injected some pace into the side... something we've lacked a little of...
  25. thanks for the report barry... CJ must come in! any chance we can convert you to a scorpions fan next season ?
