  1. the crows actually on-traded pick 37 to north melbourne for Brad Moran, who used it to draft Scott D. Thompson
  2. that's it... Melbourne should've moved into the Lexus Centre, and Victoria shouldn't have privatised everything...
  3. the club can only bid once... they essentially go around the table and ask the clubs about each father son player, and which selection they would be willing to give up to draft that player... they are then committed to use that pick on that player, unless another club outbids them, or the father/son club agrees to use their next selection... they don't have the option to bid again...
  4. i believe we were offered to move into the Lexus Centre before Collingwood. Unfortunately our board decided we couldn't afford it, so it was then offered elsewhere, namely Collingwood.
  5. how old is he? there was talk of reducing father/son requirements now that the bidding system has come in... could be as low as 20 games to qualify...
  6. Jamar will ruck and PJ will play forward, giving us that target that we lacked against the tigers last week... i would've brought in Valenti for Bode as well, but at least he's giving bode a real crack at finding his feet...
  7. give him time... he hadn't done a whole lot at adelaide either... was pretty poor for norwood... a lot of crows fans happy to see him go... he played 2 games at the end of last season, when adelaide were short of ruckman... didn't have great games, but apparently beat cameron wood when the crows played brisbane... given that he didn't set the world on fire in the sanfl, there must have been something that craig cameron still saw in him... lets hope we can find it...
  8. the thing with valenti is that if we're not sure on him at the end of the season, we can keep him on as a rookie, and he won't be taking up a senior spot on the list... not that i want this to happen, i want valents on the senior list, but there isn't the urgent issue of giving him some games throughout the rest of the season to help decide whether we ditch him, or keep him... jace bode on the other hand may very well be playing for his career over the next 10 weeks, because if he's going to hang around, he needs to show us why he should... there will be a few spots on the senior list that need to be vacated and he will be in the firing line...
  9. because his disposal has been poor under pressure the last 2 weeks... a run at sandy will help his confidence... Jamar coming in suggests PJ will play forward and give us that target we really lacked last week...
  10. whelan and valenti in, bode and morton out is my prediction... this coming from Bailey suggests Cale will get a run at Sandy... i'd like to see juice come in for someone like yze too, but i think just the two changes will take place...
  11. we're going to have to win more games than them before this game takes place for it to have any real impact... not only are we 1 game behind them, but we also have shocking percentage, so we're effectively 2 games behind them...
  12. why didn't we look at him when he did pre-season with us? i remember hearing he didn't have the attitude for AFL footy... but that can change, and it did change... surely he was worth a rookie selection...
  13. we're looking to sell just 1 more game to canberra next year for a total of 2, which will bring in another 300,000 like the game this weekend is doing... http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/sport/afl...3-19742,00.html play freo there whilst we only broke even against them this year, 300 grand in the sky rocket
  14. not good numbers to have next to your name if past experience is anything to go by...... at least warnock and garland seem to be doing the job down back in his absence...
  15. well i voted for Dunn, even though i think the Army award is a crock of BS... it's just advertising...
  16. i say we need a midfielder because I can't see any of our forwards or backs being up to the task... I hear what you're saying on Green... i do remember reading somewhere that he only just missed out on the leadership group... he and another player, I can't remember who were both right on the edge... i think it came down to Bailey and the coaching staff deciding how many players they wanted to have in the leadership group, and they didn't want to have too many, so Brad missed out... from memory every player voted 3,2,1 and green missed out by 1 or 2 votes, so there was nothing in it really... it is a call for the coaches to make, and if they feel he doesn't have the support of the players then he wont be picked, but from the way he plays and carries himself on the field, i think he's the best candidate... on brock if he continues the way he's going this year, by the time next season comes around he'll be ready to take it on i think... has been very very good for us this year...
  17. i said this in the bartram captaincy thread... your captain needs to be consistant, can't go missing... while brad has developed a lot this year, he's not up to captaining an AFL club yet... still doesn't impact games enough every week... he tries, but doesn't always have much effect... your captain can't be a key forward and average one goal a game... neita was great as skipper, but one problem with him was that if we were in trouble he was stuck at full forward, would have to throw himself to centre half back to help his side out... we need a midfielder to be our skipper next year... and it will be one of Brad Green or Brock McLean... I wanted Brad Green to be our skipper this season, but I'm all but certain it will be one of those two next season...
  18. still a long way to go, but there has been progress... there's no way he would've kicked those goals from 50 near the boundary like he did on sunday... the way he kicked them actually did remind me of neita a bit, bending them back in toward goal... was great to watch... this is a great example of Bailey and his team working on developing our players... something we haven't seen much of in the past...
  19. while he's only young one thing you need from your captain is consistancy... clint does go missing a lot, and his disposal can let him down... i'm sure he will improve in this area, but other players at his age are much more consistant than he is...
  20. it may be something we need to do to ensure our future in the short term... a 30,000 seat stadium isn't going to appear at casey overnight... if the hawks can do it in tasmania, then we can give it a go in canberra... we might not be as successful as hawthorn, but if it brings the money in, all well and good... much better than relocating to western sydney...
  21. don't forget his brother's and sisters... Dogma is a very clever movie..
  22. what was that? i couldn't quite hear you??? Dunn has been playing as a tagger and doing a reasonable job... Played on Foley yesterday and kept him to 16 posessions, which is below his regular output. Would be interesting to see how many of these were in the 2nd quarter burst they had... shouldn't be dropped and won't be dropped...
  23. He said in the press confrence that we lacked a big target up forward, and it would've been interesting to see what the result would've been if we had a Neitz or Robertson in the forward line. So hopefully this is an indication he'll bring Newton in...
  24. only played in the reserves, but we needed someone tall up forward, so it's time for a Juice... In: Newton, Whelan, Valenti. Out: Bode, Morton, Yze. Give Cale a run in the VFL for a few weeks, get his confidence in his kicking back. It will be the best thing for him.
  25. i agree... especially with the way we play football now under Bailey that dash is all important... doesn't have the blistering speed of Buckley, but still pretty quick and tends to use the ball better... good point on the kick ins too... looked much more confident taking them than bell has all season... managed to spot targets outside 50 pretty easily...
