  1. CHRIS CONNOLLY SAYS MELBOURNE FC REMAINS VERY EXCITING This is a really good interview with CC in today's Herald Sun. I found the two quotes below particularly very interesting and exciting ...
  2. http://www.afl.com.au/tabid/208/Default.aspx?newsid=64159 much more positive than anything else he's said about our club this season...
  3. if aussie was out then Maric was the obvious in... looking forward to seeing him have a run...
  4. would be a good get, however I'd like to see us chase Todd Viney... help develop our kids like he has done with the Hawthorn midfield... and all for his true love, the red and blue...
  5. Good point made there that board member Peter Spargo will be doing the job for free, so we will not be paying a CEO for the next two to three months ... therefore we're the money we pay out to McNamee was going to be paid to him anyway, except we have an interim CEO who sees eye to eye with the board. What I make of all this ... McNamee was a great CEO, but at the wrong time for the MFC ... he'd be great for a club like St. Kilda who have financial stability, and help them become an even stronger club. While McNamee had a great vision for the club, it wasn't realistic at this point in time. What the club needs now is consolidation of it's financial position, something McNamee didn't seem to have on his agenda so much.
  6. Seems like the members are getting some answers. I did say some answers UPDATE FROM THE BOARD
  7. took some balls from stynes to make this call... it was a call that obviously needed to be made... backing the board on this 100%...
  8. if it's true that Connolly was doing a lot of the work that McNamee should have been then it's not a surprise they've reviewed his position... McNamee was always going to be a risk... he'd previously been CEO of the Australian Open and assigned to promote some of the major events for Golf Australia... both gigs would be much easier than being CEO of a football club, an environment where fierce competition exists, and the job is demanding all year round...
  9. according to Greg Denham (i think) on SEN PMac cleared his desk out last night... he's gone...
  10. has plenty of upside, still tends to blaze away, needs to learn to lower his vision and spot up a target... it's almost as if his legs are too fast for his head, so he's moving too fast to be able to spot up and hit a target... hopefully it will come with time...
  11. i would've thought a game of football would be worse for a groin injury than return airfares to perth... but it is interesting that a co-captain of the club is named as an emergency, and not in the starting 22...
  12. didn't have a great game, but was hardly the only one... write him off at your own peril...
  13. will be interesting to see how Jones goes if Crowley tags him again... gave him a bath last time we played them... hopefully he deals with the tag better this time around...
  14. AFL rules require clubs to keep clash strips for at least 2 years... however we've been given an exception and will be able to change our clash strip at the end of this season... and yes, we'll be wearing it tomorrow, I think freo is our biggest clash
  15. great post... thanks for the info... very insightful...
  16. Melbourne Team Backs: M.Whelan, C.Garland, M.Warnock Half backs: C.Johnson, P.Wheatley, L.Dunn Centreline: C.Morton, C.Bruce, S.Buckley Half forwards: C.Sylvia, M.Bate, A.Davey Forwards: P.Johnson, B.Miller, A.Wonaeamirri Followers: M.Jamar, C.Bartram, N.Jones Interchange: D.Bell, M.Newton, S.Valenti, S.Martin, Emergencies: J.McDonald, J.White, A.Yze White and Yze will play with Sandy, so it would apear Junior is going with the side to Perth...
  17. a thread using a slogan made famous by 50 cent as a title reduces its cred
  18. Very candid and honest interview ... a lot more honest than I would've expected. I wonder if anyone will pick him up next season.
  19. Newton Miller Robertson Bate Wonaeamirri Davey davey could obviously play in the middle, perhaps maric to take his spot?
  20. been backing wheels in... when he was in the 2's junior was playing his role in the backline... but we all know that wheels will always be a better back pocket player than junior... plus wheels is a couple of years younger than junior, so i think he'll hold down that back pocket spot for a little while longer...
  21. i had something on today, so couldn't get to the game, and only saw bits and pieces of it on the TV... from what I did see I thought Juice played really well... presented well, took some good marks and had a few shots on goal... given we didn't kick many i'd say he had a pretty good game from what I saw... and Dunn giving Cooney a bath was great to see again
  22. surely it's a bit early to be calling him the steal of the draft when he's yet to play a game?
  23. Bazza, are you surprised to see Tmac dropped? From what I've been reading his form in the 1's has been good.
  24. That's the side pretty much everyone wanted ... We'll all be pretty happy!
