  1. I can't see it happening at all. His career is over. This is how the PSD will play out. 1. MELBOURNE - obviously not 2. PORT ADELAIDE - Josh Carr 3. ESSENDON - Just drafted Hurley, not going to happen. 4. CARLTON - Stealing CJ with this selection. 5. BRISBANE - Nick Davis 6. RICHMOND - Surely not?
  2. I think Jack is going to have his work cut out for him, keeping his teammates away from his two sisters won't be easy...
  3. I agree, most of the phantom drafts had us going tall at 17 and 19, but I'm really glad we went for mids after taking Watts @ 1... did well to get blease at 17, would've liked swift @ 19, but strauss sounds like a player... will be interesting to see in time how we stack up against west coast this draft... we seem to have taken the safer selections in Watts and Strauss, while West Coast have taken some more risks in taking Naitanui and Swift...
  4. here's a writeup from the bigfooty phantom draft on James Strauss...
  5. Tom Swift still available @ 17... Lets pull the trigger... Schoenmakers gone...
  6. I'm surprised Burgan still doesn't have us taking Swift when he's available at 17. I'd be very surprised if we passed on him if he's still available at this selection.
  7. I was just thinking he'd be a good fit for the Reach foundation. Again, this is all a futile exercise, as we won't be drafting him.
  8. Personally I'd like us to look at getting him. Not much else doing in the PSD except youngsters who were overlooked in the national draft. Can't see Bails and the recruiting staff doing it though.
  9. a player on some of those drugs on match day would definately be performance enhanced... cocaine especially...
  10. surely not? earlier in the season we were headed for a $1m loss which blew out to $2m, which would've resulted in our debt reaching $5m... however you add debt demolition of $3m to our $2m loss, and you have a profit of $1m, and a remaining debt of $2m... our operating loss couldn't have blown out past $2m could it?
  11. from memory accounting standards would dictate that the debt demolition funds be included in the year's profit... therefore we should be headed for about a $1 million profit... with $2 million of debt remaining...
  12. a comment from Bailey that makes me even more certain we'll take Jack Watts out of what i've heard and read about the leading candidates for number one, Jack seems to show great character as a person... not saying that Naitanui doesn't, but this is just something I've noticed about Watts...
  13. here is the list of delisted players we could pick up in the PSD... anyone worth drafting? a couple of names worth considering, but no body I think we'll take... Adelaide: Bryce Campbell, Luke Jericho, Kris Massie. Brisbane Lions: Wayde Mills, Matthew Moody, Chris Schmidt. Carlton: Luke Blackwell, Ryan Jackson, Aisake O'hAilpin, Darren Pfeiffer. Collingwood: Chris Egan, Sam Iles, Toby Thoolen. Essendon: Tom Hislop; Courtney Johns, Andrew Lee, Damien Peverill. Geelong: Jason Davenport, Hawthorn: Tim Clarke, Zac Dawson, Luke McEntee, Gary Moss. Melbourne: Jace Bode, Nathan Carroll, North Melbourne: Leigh Brown, Blake Grima. Port Adelaide: Greg Bentley, Adam Cockshell, Fabian Deluca, Ryan Williams. Richmond: Danny Meyer, St Kilda: Aaron Fiora, Charlie Gardiner, Brad Howard, Michael Rix. Sydney: Luke Brennan, Nick Davis, Peter Faulks, Kristin Thornton. West Coast: Steven Armstrong, Chad Jones, James Thomson. Other: Ben Cousins
  14. i think if the club was able to get another more experienced midfield coach, Mark Williams will happily step back into his former role... would be great if it's true and we get scott west... I doubt we'd announce a press confrence to welcome a ruckman to our coaching staff, where ruck coaches are usually part time... and even if it is a ruck coach, no way Luke Darcy... he's doing way to well with channel 10 to head for a coaching career at this stage...
  15. Official word hey YM? I hope you're right because it would be a great appointment for the club, but is that all your giving us?
  16. earned all australian honours in '94 was it? named on the wing

    Trifecta

I think Gardiner should've been delisted and been replaced by our own Jeff White. Surely he has more to offer than Gardiner does?
  18. Thanks for coming on here Luke. I didn't hear the interview, but for those who did how certain were the presenters that they had Peter Summers on the line? Luke, you and your football club should follow this up with SEN, as it's pretty poor form from SEN letting a caller impersonate a VFL footballer and cause problems like this.

  20. she rarely writes an article about an actual game of football... it's always about the behind the scenes issues when it comes to Caro... boardroom spills, players taking drugs, coaches getting sacked, anything off field she's all over it and does a good job... but she rarely comments about what actually happens on the field... i'd be interested if you could find me an article written by her that's about a game of football...
  21. She's the best 'political' football writer in the business. It's a shame she actually has no idea about what happens on the field...
  22. confirmed by the herald sun website... Mike Sheehan to write a tribute to his life, appearing in tomorrow's Herald Sun... does anyone know if he was in ill health? was this completely unexpected... thoughts are with the family...
  23. as I said I feel this is a much easier aspect of the game to develop for a young player... the way he attacked one of those balls in those videos shows that he's not scared and that there is something to work with there... he's a lot less risky than Naitanui that's for sure... for mine he has a lot of nick riewoldt about him... if he can become as couragous as Riewoldt, then we have a real player on our hands... the Lion is the most likely to come off for me, not sure if the scarecrow will learn as much as he needs to...
  24. oh, and after watching that first video tell me Jack Watts doesn't have a physical side to his game... watch from 1m 25 to 1m 46...
  25. sorry Freak, but you seem to have no idea whatsoever on a couple of things... he is not a basketballer first, footballer second... he was an elite basketballer but chose to pursue a football career... just because he was good at basketball doesn't mean he is not a a natural footballer, the two are not mutually exclusive... the videos i've seen of Jack on youtube show he is very much a natural footballer... he knows how to read the flight of the ball, plucking marks from packs 3 or 4 deep... he is clearly a natural forward who knows how to win the ball... watch these two videos and tell me Jack Watts is not a natural forward in aussie rules football... http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=wjuXc1SM-l8 http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=nGzqCIRgJLw I completely disagree... I find more often that the more physical players, especially early on in their careers, are those who naturally have trouble winning the ball... they don't lead or present to the right places to get the ball, so they compensate for this by bringing a greater physical side to their game... I've got no doubt this is the case with Nick... He struggles to win the football the way a Dean Cox or Jeff White does, so he just chases it, and with his great speed he makes an impact this way... But he's going to need more strings to his bow at AFL level. Further on in their careers players tend to develop the weaknesses in their game... Whether it be the physical side to their game, or their ability to find the footy, or their skills, whatever it may be... However it's much easier for a player to become more physical than it is to learn how to find the footy... Remember when Neita started becoming a lot more physical with his hit on Luke McCabe in '02. He increased the physical side of his game without much problem at all. On the other hand, look at John Meesen, still hasn't learned how to find the footy, after 3 or 4 years in the AFL system? I have no doubt as he gets bigger and stronger, Jack will become a more physical and couragous footballer... However I have some doubt whether Natanui's football smarts will improve as much as they need to for him to realise his potential...
