In his presser, Goody seemed both phizzed off and also very confident. Shootouts don’t suit us. we can win, but not like that. That won’t happen too often. time to get this stuff sorted and line ourselves up for a finals campaign. We can win it from anywhere in the 8.

Tonight we see if we have been ‘loading’ or we are loaded with BS. Training footage looked intense and contested. Boy oh Boy! Really want Sam Weid to have a great game. Interesting to listen to Goody’s presser this week. A lot of repetition re the challenge is in front of us and 6 weeks to go. I have a feeling this is when we start our run to the finals. We might be a bit rusty, but I can see us squeezing the life out of Port today, being better through half forward and creating space for forwards by faster ball movement. Port are no slouch, so we will have to play well. We were within a kick mid way through the last quarter against the cats, then got run over, Can’t see them applying that level of pressure, but we will! Dees to kick 80+, port to kick under 60. That’s a 4-6 goal win.

If either if these players win us games, then they should be selected. They are on our list this year to help us win the flag. We dont need to blood players unnecessarily, or hold out players because they wont be around next year. We just have to pick the best team from who we have, reward performance and effort.

They seemed to allow us Forst possible from the stoppage with manic tackle pressure from behind. Max couldn’t get off the ground. Too slow to execute basic skills under pressure. One or two steps too many. Harmes is not Dusty. A loss we deserved. Poor across the board, lots to work on, If that is their best, we can break it down in finals. Cats supporters are flogs.

Win, lose or draw, that umpiring was so biased. Im glad we took the points, but thre umpires worked hand to get them over the line.

Fwiw, i watched the replay with a focus on our talls. They all did well at crashing packs, halving contests knocking the ball to advantage. Weid put his body into contests like we haven’t seen before, he competed cleverly in most ruck contests. BBB looked better and worked harder too. jacko is doing fine at plumping his value. I suggest wer go unchanged until MAx is right, the smaller forward setup with different use of the talls seemed to work well for us.

If all this loading theory is true, then we had season 1 (first 10 matches), loading phase (11-13 plus bye). Now we are at the season 2 (last H/A games) before the final action. It all begins again this week. We really need to get back to kicking winning scores and winning games THIS WEEK, and create the dominance that sets us up for the finals. We have been poor going forward the last 6 weeks, this has to change. If we are serious about going back to back, then no team should scare us anywhere.

Don’t think we’d beat either of these teams atm. Got a lot of work to do, about 20% off where we need to be.

We are off right across the board: poor explosive link up run is gone. we bomb it to the top of the square (making Cox look like superman) midfield not winning the contest or clearance not committing to really hitting the contest mitch brown is not the answer, or if he is I don’t like the question we lack forward pressure and allow turnovers out too easily we don’t kick to space we have lost our mojo. Confidence looks shot (there may be heart, but with no confidence it ends in slow play and fumbles) if we don’t fix this, we will be mid table.
