The Run Home
If all this loading theory is true, then we had season 1 (first 10 matches), loading phase (11-13 plus bye). Now we are at the season 2 (last H/A games) before the final action. It all begins again this week. We really need to get back to kicking winning scores and winning games THIS WEEK, and create the dominance that sets us up for the finals. We have been poor going forward the last 6 weeks, this has to change. If we are serious about going back to back, then no team should scare us anywhere.

NON-MFC: Round 14, 2022
Don’t think we’d beat either of these teams atm. Got a lot of work to do, about 20% off where we need to be.

Soft cap to increase by $500,000 - where would you spend it?
I’d spend it on a pie and a beer at marvel stadium

CHANGES: Rd 15 vs Brisbane

The Road Back to Success -June 2022
We are off right across the board: poor explosive link up run is gone. we bomb it to the top of the square (making Cox look like superman) midfield not winning the contest or clearance not committing to really hitting the contest mitch brown is not the answer, or if he is I don’t like the question we lack forward pressure and allow turnovers out too easily we don’t kick to space we have lost our mojo. Confidence looks shot (there may be heart, but with no confidence it ends in slow play and fumbles) if we don’t fix this, we will be mid table.

Practicing my Collingwood jokes on Mrs Nekkid. I hope for a better response at the ground…..

Bailey Smith is the New Story
They are spinning this so hard Im getting dizzy. Wants to be the victim here? Sheesh. An overpaid, overpampered, overexposed, badly coiffured young man that did something illegal (at minimum possession). Own your mistake and stop trying to bump your insta numbers. #free kick bulldogs extends beyond the boundary……

TEAMS: Rd 13 vs Collingwood
What I would like to see in the forward 50: Not everyone pushing up so high all of the time - leave at least one player in the zone to offer a target. have four target zones - 20 out, 40 out (straight in front) and 30 out each side on a 45 degree angle. Instead of bombing it to 4 v 4 10 m out, spread to pre-designed leading zones ands give the kicker target options. Better pressure in our forward half - lock it in and win the territory battle

We will murder the filth on Monday.
The May saga does not break our culture - it allows us to reinforce it by calling out what breaches standards with honesty and clarity (Max and Goody’s pressers) and setting it to rights. What busts culture is Bailey ‘Sniffer’ Smith - where bad behaviour is condoned, covered up or excuses are made. This game for me comes down to handling and seeing off the Pies attempt at pressure, and fixing our structures and method forward of the ball. We need to move it from contest with precision and create space forward, rather than allowing flooding back in our f50 because we are too slow to move the footy. hope we see a glint of steel in our game and we win by 50+. Happy with 1 point win.

TEAMS: Rd 13 vs Collingwood
It may be bad that May is out suspended, however I think the team has been dropping off defensive actions further up the ground and expecting May and his backline minions to repel most attacks. With him out and lever off a bit, whole team defence is even more important. This ‘forced out’ might encourage players to get back to the system, rather than letting the back line do the heavy lifting. i would like to see Turner come in as he has had some good games for Casey. Maybe Weid for Brown, M? ANB not the centreman. Should have enough to beat the pies, if we get the forward line working and match their pressure at the contest.

POSTGAME: Rd 12 vs Sydney
`We were beaten by continuous intense pressure in the contest, and winning the post contest possession. Rather than use the extra in the contest, they seemed to pressure the player and all potential outlets. This created the turnovers and lack of forward drive. We failed to control the tempo, and our basic skills were below standard. We wanted to do the flashy when we needed to execute perfectly the basics first. Our method into f50 was a joke. We bombed it in, allowed therm to flood and double and triple team us. Even plugger Lockett would have struggled. We were down on defensive personnel, May out, Petty banged up and Tommo still getting the rust off. Their movement i50 further enhanced the problems. We have some work to do. Right across the board but mostly in our approach to the contest and basics.

GAMEDAY: Rd 12 vs Sydney
Rain predicted. Whose game holds up better in the wet? Think we will bounce back. Swans will try Freo method, then revert to their usual style, then simply not keep up. 28 points.

What They Are Saying at Moore Park
Tom Papley came out and said they are going to train “what Freo did” - which is great news. Not playing their own ‘brand’ to beat us means 1) they don’t think their brand is good enough 2) the Dockers formula will work on a fully fit Dees outfit and 3) when it starts to fall apart for them, what do they do? The Dockers way or their own?? Sends a powerful signal that we should capitalise on. Blood(s) in the water for a rebound.

GAMEDAY: Rd 11 vs Fremantle
I see today going this way: freo bring manic pressure and two way running, which we match. they break first we come home over the top for a reasonable win. the game wont be won by the stars, but by the system and skills. Our pressure will eventually be too much. dees by 35

POSTGAME: Rd 10 vs North Melbourne
I go to every home game that I can, and selective away games (as many at the G as I can, though, and I hate Marvel with a passion). I have a COVID impacted household and important family events that cut across my footy when they are at the ridiculous twilight time slot like last weekend and this coming. Give me 2:10 or 7:30 and I will be much better at getting to every game that I can. Public transport is also a concern (if I miss my bus after a night game, its a long walk or expensive Uber). We all have different backstories, and do the best that we can. Lets not berate those who don’t but still put money in the tin via memberships etc. It is an AFL wide problem, too.

CHANGES: Rd 11 vs Fremantle
I think it is because our focus is forward defence, and we always have the option of Gawn/Jackson being down there too. That means we would lose a Kossie/Nibbler/Spargo type player who is critical to our system. I would suggest we have 2 key talls plus resting ruck as our blueprint, with a mid forward (frittata) and the smalls.

POSTGAME: Rd 10 vs North Melbourne
Good point re the adaption to what we meet. It looked like North stacked the backline to make it a slog, and attempted to use the corridor without the skill to pull it off. We kept turning them back and hitting their flood. I guess it means there are those who try and win against us and open themselves up (like the saints) and those who try to minimise the damage and turn the game into a slog (like yesterday). We seem to keep doing our thing either way, trusting and resetting where we need to. All teams in the AFL have good players and are capable of scoring. We kept them to about 2 points from 10 minutes to go in the third quarter. That is a hell of an effort.

POSTGAME: Rd 10 vs North Melbourne
My take: we smashed them in shots on goal and inside 50’s. Our poor inside 50 marking (we dropped way too many markable passes) and our goal kicking accuracy cost us a bigger win, but didn't cost us anything else. They had 13 shots, we had 14 goals, plus 16 points. our system stacks up, and our ability to keep at it until the game turns to the demon way is impressive. Role playing for 4 quarters is a tough thing to do. Gus had a bad start, Brownie tried too hard and let himself down in his 150th. Lingers was missed. We seemed to play Gawn forward a lot tonight, too. Dunstan shaky early but got cleaner later. Oliver was simply brilliant. Lots of touches, but unlike a [censored] like Mitchell, they were at the coalface and were high value. Strangely muted feeling for such a dominant display and a big win. I think we let ourselves down on what could have been a parade. i love being NARRM and all that this says about our club. Go Narrm, go Dees.

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs North Melbourne
Already voted. have a wedding tonight so cant make the game. Best team in the league getting the worst time slots, WTF? Anyway, hope the boys switch on, knowing there are many hungry players at Casey if they dont. Today is an opportunity to work on inside 50, forward leading patterns and front half defence. Hold them to under 24 points and put on a cricket score would be my goal, with continued forward connection development.
