I fully get how some, as yourself, feel about this and Oliver. I do agree about him being a mess. I can't concur that he's OUR mess. And that goes to the heart of the predicament. He's his own mess. He's an adult. ( according to some ) I know some won't agree with me ( that's novel ) and certainly won't concur these sentiments. He's a very lucky lad. He is without doubt a very talented footballer. But he's a flawed genius in being so. If only half the tales are true then he's been the epitome of high maintenance. He's commanded a high coin. That of itself isn't a concern ( if returned in kind ) . His role is to play as team member not as some head billing star of a show. He owes it to his employer to do what's reasonably asked. The proper reaction to being asked to change his role is to comply if its within ability. If he thinks it isn't then he ought to think how he can and discuss concerns with his mentors and instructors. This isn't something the club has set out to do. Over the years tge club, and fellow team mates, especially his captain have gone out of their way and way above duty to look out for a mate. That's commendable and really totally unecessary. You have to wonder about the calibre of character that someone who you would think owes so much for chaperoning his career would return the favour by abandoning any moral debt and buggering off. Some will.cry ... but... but.. but we forced him out. No we may have forced his hand but he , and only he is responsible for his decisions. So whilst I certainly understand your position Jaded, indeed that of anyone who is essentially grieving I dont share it. I really feel for the likes of Max . Clarrys not perfect. Who among us is. I fervently hope anyone with problems gets the help they need but this doesn't in my view excuse his behaviour. I'll miss the Clarry of old.... couldn't give a rats about the current version. And generally GC have been a good trading partner over the years. This probably the first time the stakes are so high. It'll get done... not today, doubt the weekend.. but we'll get there. A deal thats pretty ok whilst not satisfying everyone but palatable to the club(s) We can only see what is in play.. bound to be elements that are far move forward looking as well. My view about trading is holistic...I.e. over all did we accomplish much of what we set goals for as opposed micro critiquing every trade. Go US !!
